in this video we're gonna show you the

0:01

best settings for recording high quality

0:03

videos in OBS these settings are

0:06

suitable for gameplay videos as well as

0:08

screen recordings they apply for PCs and

0:11

laptops alike

0:12

first let's go to OBS and click on

0:15

settings go to the video section here

0:19

you will have to set your screen

0:20

resolution for both base and output if

0:23

you are using a 1080p monitor then set

0:25

the resolution to 1920x1080

0:28

if you are using a 1440p monitor then

0:31

set the resolution to

0:33

2560x1440 I have a 1440p monitor so I

0:37

will set mine at 2560x1440.

0:40

if the downscale filter is active then

0:42

leave it at by cubic

0:44

for FPS set the FPS number that you like

0:47

if you are recording a gameplay video

0:49

then set it to 60fps for Smooth video

0:52

overall if you have a low end PC or

0:55

laptop then I would recommend 30fps I

0:58

would leave mine at 60fps here

1:01

now let's go to the output section and

1:04

change the output mode to Advanced go to

1:07

the recording tab under recording path

1:09

you can specify the destination for your

1:12

recorded videos

1:14

for recording format don't use MP4 at

1:17

all costs and instead use MKV now I know

1:20

that MP4 is the most compatible format

1:23

for everything however if you chose MP4

1:25

and couldn't stop the recording safely

1:27

for example if you had the blue screen

1:30

of death on Windows or the power went

1:32

off then your recorded video will be

1:34

lost and not recovered with MKV you can

1:37

easily use the recorded video Until the

1:39

point where the power went off if you

1:41

have a problem with the MKV format not

1:43

being recognized in your video editor I

1:46

will show you an easy way to convert it

1:47

to MP4 later in the video

1:50

for audio track you should be fine with

1:52

just track number one in the encoder

1:55

section x.264 is what you would find in

1:58

most tutorials I would not recommend it

2:00

unless you don't have another GPU from

2:02

Nvidia or AMD that's because it's going

2:05

to use your CPU to encode the video and

2:08

by doing that it will hinder your

2:09

performance especially if you have a

2:11

slow CPU if you have an NVIDIA GTX 10

2:14

series GPU or older choose Nvidia and

2:18

vinc.264 and if you have an RTX 20

2:20

series GPU or newer choose Nvidia and

2:23

wink hevc this is a more efficient video

2:26

project than h.264 but it requires newer

2:30

Hardware to play back and edit I have an

2:32

RTX 37t laptop GPU so I will choose havc

2:36

if you have an AMD GPU then choose

2:39

whatever AMD encoder that you see in

2:41

this list

2:44

leave these settings as they are and go

2:46

to the encoder settings for rate control

2:48

choose cqp this is a much better way to

2:52

assign bitrate to videos than vbr or CBR

2:54

leave CQ level at 20. with this level it

2:58

will cover everything from gameplay

3:00

videos with fast motion to low motion

3:02

screen recordings all of that while

3:04

making sure you get the lowest possible

3:06

file size and that of course depends on

3:09

what's happening on the screen but when

3:11

you want even higher quality choose a

3:13

lower number like 16 or 18. this will

3:16

make the file size higher

3:18

leave keyframe interval at 2.

3:21

for preset choose best quality for

3:23

screen recordings and good quality if

3:25

you are recording gameplay videos now

3:28

it's not a rule that you have to follow

3:30

if you have a powerful GPU you can

3:32

choose best quality while recording

3:34

gameplay videos I have a somewhat

3:36

powerful GPU so I will choose best

3:38

quality for everything

3:40

for tuning leave it at high quality

3:43

now for multi-pass mode if you are

3:46

recording in 1440p or higher choose

3:48

single pass and if you are recording in

3:51

1080P or lower you can choose two passes

3:53

quarter resolution or even full

3:55

resolution I will choose full resolution

3:58

leave profile at Main don't check look

4:02

ahead and check psycho visual tuning

4:04

leave GPU at zero for Max B frames write

4:08

2.

4:09

now let's go to the audio tab under

4:12

audio bitrate choose 320 kilobits per

4:15

second and by doing that you will get

4:18

high quality audio alongside your video

4:21

finally let's go to the audio section on

4:23

the left here we will make sure to set

4:25

the sample rate to 48 kilohertz and make

4:28

sure to set the channel to stereo

4:34

with these settings you can record in

4:36

the highest possible quality in OBS

4:38

since not everyone has the same PC specs

4:41

I would really advise you to test and

4:43

see what works for you

4:45

now I will show you an easy way to

4:47

convert MKV videos into MP4 let's say

4:50

you have these recorded videos in MKV

4:53

what we're gonna do is to go to OBS and

4:55

click on file Re Max recordings browse

4:59

where your videos at and select them

5:02

click on open and click on remarks it's

5:05

going to convert them to MP4 very

5:07

quickly

5:12

if you want OBS to remarks videos

5:15

automatically go to OBS settings head to

5:19

the advanced section and enable

5:21

automatically Remax to MP4 and that's it

5:24

a very secure way to save your videos

5:27

so that's it for this video if you found

5:29

it helpful please don't forget to like

5:31

And subscribe thanks for watching and I

5:33

will see you in the next time peace

5:42

[Applause]

5:43

[Music]

5:46

thank you
