YouTube quiz generator

Paste a YouTube link and YouTLDR writes a multiple-choice quiz from what the video says: 5 to 10 questions, a mix of easy, medium and hard, scored when you submit. It works on lectures, tutorials and talks, including videos without captions (up to 5 hours).

Pro costs $12/month and is required to process a new video (up to 10 transcripts and 10 summaries a day). There is no free plan; public transcript pages are free to read.

Make a quiz from a video

How to make a quiz from a YouTube video

  1. 1

    Paste the link

Paste the YouTube URL on the YouTLDR home page. YouTLDR gets the transcript from the captions, or transcribes the audio if there are none.

  2. 2

    Open the Quiz tab

Click Generate Quiz. The questions are written from the transcript, so they cover what was said in the video.

  3. 3

    Answer and submit

Pick an answer for each question and submit. You see your score and which answers were right.

What you get

  • 5 to 10 multiple-choice questions per quiz.
  • A mix of easy, medium and hard questions.
  • A score out of the total as soon as you submit, with the right answers marked.
  • The full transcript, summary and chat for the same video, so you can look up anything you got wrong.

What it does not do

If you want flashcards, NotebookLM (now Gemini Notebook) makes flashcards and quizzes for free from videos that have captions, and Recall schedules quizzes with spaced repetition. See how they compare on our page for students.

  • No flashcards and no spaced-repetition reviews.
  • No editing of questions and no quiz export file.
  • No free plan: quizzes are part of Pro.
