How do you look confident when you're giving a presentation,

0:03

even if you're faking it?

0:11

Some people, when they give a presentation,

0:13

will walk up and down in front of the audience,

0:15

and they might be looking at the audience or they might be looking

0:18

at their PowerPoint, but they just never stop moving.

0:22

Don't do that.

0:23

Tip number one is to anchor your feet.

0:26

Imagine that your feet are fixed to the floor,

0:29

and your body weight is distributed evenly between them.

0:32

If you're going from one side to the other, you just don't look very confident.

0:37

So keep your feet hip width apart,

0:40

and don't move them during the presentation.

0:42

Tip number two is about your hands.

0:44

People always worry about what do with their hands during a presentation.

0:47

And if you find yourself thinking this, I have a really good trick for you.

0:51

Just take the thumb of each hand and the middle finger and put them together.

0:55

Then you can put your hands by your sides, and forget about them.

0:58

This is a really good thing to do because it's not doing nothing with your hands.

1:02

It gives you a plan.

1:03

You're going to put the thumb to the middle finger.

1:06

It's also something that some people do when they're meditating or doing yoga,

1:09

and they argue that it makes you feel calmer.

1:12

So, thumb to middle finger, and then just let your hands drop by your sides.

1:16

And the final one, if you want your audience to think that

1:19

you're really confident, is to slow down.

1:23

Remember, the information that you're sharing might seem old to you,

1:26

but to the audience it's new. They need time to digest it.

1:30

Try watching this video in double speed,

1:33

and you'll realize that it's way too fast.

1:34

Sometimes when you do a presentation, you end up speaking in double speed,

1:38

even if you didn't plan to.

1:40

Slow down and give your audience time to absorb what you're saying.

1:44

So there you go.

1:45

Even if you're only faking it during your presentation,

1:48

you can look really confident.

1:49

And when you look confident, you'll feel more confident too.

1:52

Don't forget to anchor your feet,

1:54

put your thumb and middle finger together and slow down

1:58

so the audience can take in what you're saying and really enjoy the presentation.
