Hunting the snake that is destroying my home
Today, we are in the Everglades, in
which is home to a lot of crazy scary
creatures. And we also have Luke
McFadden with us today, the Maryland
crabber, and my buddy Python Cowboy, who
will be taking us on this trip. He is
very well known for eradicating invasive
species, and you also may have seen him
on the Joe Rogan podcast.
>> This is actually the one that bit me.
That I almost bled out in the middle of
the Everglades, caught by myself in the
middle of the Everglades.
>> But yeah, that's what we're catching
today.
>> The bites aren't bad.
>> [laughter]
>> The bites aren't as bad as you think.
I've been bit by almost 18-footer,
didn't go hospital, nothing like that. I
almost bled out.
>> [laughter]
>> And today, hopefully, nobody will be
bleeding out in the Everglades, but I
guess you never know. And after we're
done catching snakes, we're going to be
blowing some fish. Pause. Wait a minute.
Wait.
>> Okay, we are going on a hunt that
honestly can't say I'm excited for
because this is probably one of the few
creatures that I've hunted that
potentially, you know, get you. This is
hand-to-hand combat. Kayla didn't want
to come with me on this one, big
surprise, but we're going to catch some
big old snakes.
>> How big do you think these snakes get?
>> 16 ft. I think Mike has caught one.
>> It's like three of my size.
If you were 5 ft.
>> Three of me.
>> If you were 5 ft.
But you're not.
Wait, why are you doing this again
though?
>> Why are we catching snakes?
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz we're protecting Florida.
These invasive creatures got to get
through me first.
All 135 lbs of me.
>> [laughter]
>> Because these snakes eat everything
that's supposed to be here. You like
rabbits, don't you?
>> I love rabbits.
>> They're eating all of the rabbits. All
of them.
>> They're bunnies.
>> They're eating all of the bunnies.
>> How do you know the python's not going
to do that to you?
>> That's a risk I'm willing to take.
Cuz I'm honestly, I probably weigh as
much as these snakes. I did I actually
haven't thought about that till now.
>> And with that being said, well, let's
just get into it. Are you ready?
>> To catch a snake that's twice my size?
Yeah.
>> When was the last time you did this? Has
it been a whole year now?
>> Yeah, it's been over a year. But we're
trying to get turn Luke into a Florida
man at the same time, so I think we let
Luke
get on the first one and just see the
reaction.
If he can pull the Florida man and jump
jump on these snakes and
>> I think he's cut out for it.
>> I don't I've seen these snakes eat
animals bigger than me and Luke, so it's
like
And we just got to play it right. We got
to play it right.
>> So, uh, we'll be getting up on these
islands out here. What we want to do
when everyone kind of gets comfortable
and gets their bearings right, generally
these pythons are just going to lay
there and wait to see what you're going
to do. They're going to use their
camouflage. So, if you come across one
by yourself, all you got to do is yell
out, we'll come together, come up with a
game plan.
If the snake does try to run from you,
bite you, whatever, mainly if it's
trying to run from you, dive on it, grab
it, do whatever you can to stop that
snake from getting in the water. It gets
in that water,
it's got a good chance of totally
disappearing. They can hold their breath
a while like a gator. When you grab the
head, let's say this is the head of the
snake, this is the neck, you want to
grab high up on that neck as you can.
Grab back here, it can turn and bite
you. Grab too far forward, you're just
going to wrap your hand around its head
and you'll be good. If the snake does
bite you, fight all your instincts to
yank your hand away, which is easier
said than done. But when you yank your
hand away, it's either going to make
that snake latch on to you or it's going
to rip teeth out of its mouth and make
your wound worse.
The bites aren't bad.
>> [laughter]
>> The bites aren't as bad as you think.
I've been bit by almost 18-footer,
didn't go to the hospital, nothing like
that. I almost bled out.
>> [laughter]
>> But
other than that,
you'll be good.
>> [laughter]
>> I was just going to say almost bleeding
out in the Everglades.
>> If you hear the dogs barking, get to the
dog.
>> What do you do if you if it does bite
you?
>> Kind of not play dead.
>> No, kind of take it.
>> [laughter]
>> Generally, what it's going to do is it's
going to hit you and retract.
>> Uh-huh.
>> And you'll be good. You'll be bleeding a
little bit, but you'll be good. If it
latches on to you, grab it by its head,
cuz then you got it.
>> Uh-huh.
>> And then we can get it off of you.
>> All right, [laughter] great.
>> Its teeth are teeth are all facing
backwards, so that's how they can kind
of trap you.
>> Uh-huh.
>> That's how they trap prey. But again,
it's just a bunch of little needles.
It's a bunch of them.
>> Yeah, yeah.
>> But it's not like a gator where it's
going to grab you, crush you,
>> Yeah.
>> tear you up.
>> Got you.
>> Nothing like that.
>> All right, sweet. Let's do it.
>> All right, well, I I forgot about the
water moccasins. I I didn't really think
that one through.
>> And with the safety brief over, now it
is time to go catch these invasive
pythons. The reason why these pythons
are so bad for Florida is because they
are eating all the native species, deer,
rabbits, alligators, anything that they
can get around, they're killing and
eating, which is not good. So, our job
today is to take out as many pythons as
we can.
>> All right.
>> We need snake.
>> I think Florida initiation Luke's got to
jump on the first one.
>> That's fine with me, man.
>> So, we got to we got to find these
suckers, dude.
>> It's probably one of them things where
you're like you'll be sitting there for
5 minutes and then realize you've been
sitting next to one.
>> that's why you should check the same
like walk back over the same spots.
These dogs will find one before we do.
Like all of all five of us looking,
dude, is equivalent of one of these dogs
going around.
>> Kind of what I figured. I was like, if
these dogs going crazy and they're not
going
>> Yeah, they
>> barking.
>> I guess there are none.
>> And these dogs are making our lives 10
times easier. They can sniff out these
snakes, and they actually found one
within the first 45 minutes. And now
it's time to put our catching skills to
the test, without getting bit.
>> And while some dogs catch 10-ft snakes,
other dogs, like mine, well, they just
get lost. And that brings us to today's
sponsor.
>> It literally says he's still in the
house, Gale.
Dutch.
What are you looking at?
So, we let our dogs just run around
without I mean, they're pretty good
about staying around the house. When we
first got Goose here, we'd open the
front door for maybe 10 seconds and he
would dash out and sprint. We wouldn't
even know he was gone half the time.
This would have made my life so much
easier cuz I would have known exactly
where he was. Fi isn't just a GPS
tracker. That's one of the great things
about it, but it's got a bunch of
different features that I love. Tracks
when they eat, they sleep, their steps
for goodness sake. I mean, you can
literally try and make these dogs hit an
exercise goal, which And then the other
side of things, this dog right here
decides he doesn't want to eat half the
time. Fi keeps track of when they eat,
when they drink, when they bark. It'll
tell you, "Hey, you know, your dogs are
barking more than usual." Which [music]
sadly our dogs bark a lot. So, we'll
probably get that notification. My
personal favorite feature, you can link
these information you're getting with
these collars, you can link it to your
vet, right? So, if they're scratching
more than usual, which it does track if
they're scratching themselves, you can
get ahead, "Okay, they've got fleas.
Okay, they they've got some maybe they
have ticks." And it goes right to your
vet, so your vet can kind of be ahead of
the game. You can be ahead of the game.
They can't speak to you. So, this almost
gives them a voice to speak to you.
That's my personal favorite thing about
it. And the reason why I trust Fi so
much is because they are the most
trustworthy tech for dog collar on the
market. Without a doubt, no questions
asked. You can invite people to be like
collaborators on the account. So, when
we go on vacation next week and we have
somebody dog sitting, they can see
everything that we see, which is really
cool. And let's say Dutch here runs away
and we want some help, we can start a
search party, which will notify anybody
else that is using the Fi app that,
"Hey, there's a lost dog [music] in the
area near you. We'll help you find your
dog faster." What are you looking at?
You can literally go on the app, can go
to his specific breed, so he's a
sheepadoodle. Just in the state of
Florida, who has the top amount of I
mean, it's kind of like it's it's like a
cool competitive thing.
So, if you want peace of mind with your
dogs, whether they ran away or you just
want to know a little bit more about
their health, click the link down in the
description, get yourself a Fi collar,
know exactly what your dogs are up to at
all times. And now, back to the video.
>> You got two.
You ready?
>> You go grab that one.
>> Where is it?
>> On the other side. Go go where the dogs
are.
>> Good dog.
Get a little closer, dude.
Get a little closer.
Easy, get back.
>> Hey, hey, hey, don't you do it.
Don't you do it.
the back of that neck.
>> Woo! [cheering]
Yeah, buddy.
>> [laughter]
>> That's what we're talking about, son. We
got another one, though. What's this
other one looking like? Bald up?
>> Yeah, bald up staring at me.
>> Yeah, trouble was uh
>> Easy, dogs. Easy.
>> Hurt you, trouble now.
>> Get it out in the open.
>> A little bit more.
>> Easy, dogs. Easy, dogs.
>> Woo! That's a good one, boys.
>> Go easy.
>> Trouble, easy.
>> God!
Dude, they're so strong.
>> Greed is what's going on here.
>> So, the bigger ones are normally the
females or
>> And how many did we just prevent from
coming into play?
>> Uh
there ain't no telling, man. A snake
that size can lay upwards of 50 eggs,
maybe more.
>> Huh.
Dude.
>> Damn.
>> You give me a small one.
>> That's a male.
>> That's actually a male. That's a male.
>> Oh, they were
>> This may be a female.
>> Oh, I thought they were gay
[clears throat] snakes.
>> Well,
>> You never know.
>> You never know. [laughter]
>> 2026.
>> there that could mean there's a big
female here that we didn't see yet.
>> Hell yeah, dude.
>> Look at that.
>> Bro.
>> Hell yeah. [laughter]
>> Look at that. That's That's just snake,
dude.
>> I've never seen a snake that big. That
That's crazy.
>> Did you get yours Is that from the dog,
too?
>> That's from the dog.
>> So, this this one here is probably only
a year old.
>> A year old? Are you serious? They're
born out of the egg at 2 ft long and in
that first year depending on what they
eat they can reach 6 ft or more.
>> Really? That's crazy. Whatever the hell
that is coming out. What is that?
>> So these are their spurs.
It's like a little French tickler to get
the female all riled up.
>> So he was ready to make a move.
>> Very possibly. These two were like right
next to each other. They had to have
been.
>> Boy,
sounds like the same spot. And if you
thought those last two pythons were big
you're about to see a way bigger snake.
There's a nice open spot right here.
See back up.
Oozie, come here.
Careful of that dog. Keep pulling
Oozie, get back.
Oozie, get back.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Oozie, Oozie.
Trouble, get him.
Just careful of that dog. Keep pulling
it.
Oozie, get back.
Oozie, get back.
Oozie, Oozie.
You're going to only get him from there.
Trouble, trouble here. Trouble here.
Trouble, here.
Here.
Here.
Good.
>> God damn son. Trouble now.
>> It's so hard when they're coiled up like
that. [cheering]
>> Boy.
>> The three
>> That's a That's a snake.
>> That's a freaking snake.
>> Number three.
>> She's so strong.
>> That is a snake.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> [panting]
>> It worked though.
>> Look at that, [laughter] dude.
>> Uh this might be the thumbnail. This is
>> This is freaking awesome.
>> This might be the thumbnail. Look like
if I put my hand there, dude, she just
coil like tries to coil it. Look at
that.
>> Yeah.
>> So strong.
>> That's a big one.
>> [laughter]
>> That is a That is a
That is a big snake.
>> They're so strong. Holy
>> How long is this one? You think like 8
ft maybe?
>> No, that that other one was 8 ft.
>> No, that's another male.
>> Really?
>> We might not be done yet.
>> Dude, the other ones like didn't look
that mean then this one was like
>> Oh my gosh.
>> [laughter]
>> Hey, so like on the on the scale of
size, where does this lie like medium to
large?
>> Um this is on the larger side of
average.
>> Yep.
>> Larger side of average.
>> Yep, average is like 6 to 10 ft. This is
10 ft.
>> It's the biggest one you caught this
year?
>> Uh biggest one this year was just under
15 ft.
>> It's a big one.
>> All right, head to the floor. I meant to
tell y'all that on the last one. There
you go. I'll let go of him. Nice work,
boys.
>> Hell yeah.
>> Dude, that's a
>> Pretty good one.
>> Hell yeah.
>> [laughter]
>> This is freaking sweet.
>> Yeah, when we walked up to that one, he
goes, "Oh, this is the this I think this
is the big female that I want."
>> big
>> [laughter]
[music]
>> figure out cuz I want like a belt or
something out of one of these that we
caught today. And do we
>> I'll make my old lady a bikini.
>> Yeah.
>> Hell yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Sick, dude. Let me see it.
>> Hey, babe. I got you
>> It's a surprise.
>> Or you can order this stuff on his
website. You can come on these trips.
But is it pythoncowboy.com?
>> pythoncowboy.com
>> Dude, come do this yourself and
>> Heck yeah.
>> see if you see if you don't hesitate
like we did on grabbing those pythons.
>> I am intimidated, dude.
>> Yeah, there's a big difference between
the little snakes and the big snakes.
>> [laughter]
>> The big snake, I was like, grab the
tail. I was like, oh my god, this just
keeps going.
>> It keeps coming, yeah.
>> All right, three down.
>> Trouble
>> Come here. What are your What are your
thoughts of the Everglades so far?
>> Dude, it's freaking wild. It's like
crazy.
>> It's some stuff I like never seen
before. It's Jurassic Park.
>> Yeah, it really is. It's just like a
whole 'nother like world within the
world.
>> Florida is like Florida [music] is
crazy.
>> There's everything in Florida.
>> One of the things I love about Florida,
a lot of things I love about Florida.
But
>> Dude, you can go to like the Keys and
it's like Bahama clear water, catch a
million different things. There's a
thousand species to catch. And then you
can just drive get in the truck and
drive 8 hours and then you're in the
Gulf and then you drive 3 hours back and
you're in the freaking Everglades
catching snakes. There's like literally
everything to do here. It's crazy and
all year round.
>> Yes.
>> It's pretty nuts.
>> Dude, if you think about it
>> I like the people in Florida.
>> The Florida The Florida man
>> They're my people. [laughter] I like
>> You would fit in well in Florida.
>> I'm telling you, man. I think I think I
would like Florida. I would
>> Little snowboard action?
>> Yeah, he's going to be a snowboarder in
a couple years.
>> to be living in a trailer down by the
river in Steve's backyard.
>> [laughter]
>> Well, now that we've caught three
snakes, it is time to start blowing some
fish. And what I mean by that is this
thing right here. It looks like a normal
fishing rod, but actually you got to
suck and blow.
Pause. You You It's There's a There's a
sharp dart
and you blow it
at the fish.
And it's way harder than it looks.
Pause. You You It's There's a You suck.
>> Yeah, that's why you got to You'll get a
better
>> That was a good blow. It was
Oh, You jerked it up when you blew
it, yeah.
>> And remember, it's like blowfish, so aim
a little low.
>> Yeah, he didn't go anywhere.
Suck in, don't move it, blow out, and
>> Hit the rock just above him.
>> That's the same.
>> You see, I just feel like I'm barely
pushing it out.
>> Yeah, you need a bigger blow than that
one. Your first blow was good.
>> Oh, he got
>> [laughter]
>> I thought I had him.
>> I thought you did, too. You did it.
>> gas the freaking blow up.
>> He's a better blower than me. He is.
>> He is. I don't know. I should be.
>> Pause. I'm proud of him.
>> [laughter]
>> That's why I keep him around. He's a
freak.
>> I hate being the bad like the worst
person to try something, you know?
>> You're the first person.
>> He's got some steam behind that, though,
seriously. I can hear it. Mine was like
and it just like hit the water and then
sank.
>> Ronaldo, replay the clip of Steve's.
>> No. No.
>> Dude, that is a rocket.
>> Yeah, he's
>> He's got [music] the power.
>> It's not freaking even I'm not
>> I mean, the the tip on that is a little
bent, but it's like it's it should still
be punching right through.
>> a new dart on.
>> Pause.
>> [snorts]
>> Oh, good shot, man.
>> And I And I literally this is me.
>> I saw it.
>> I don't know if I'm cut out for this.
>> Let's do it like uh you got to do it to
eat, or else you got to hit them or
you're not eating tonight.
>> Then you might hit
>> Why you got to put the pressure on me,
right?
>> Oh, that looked like maybe right over
top of him.
>> We got to get one, boy.
>> All right.
Oh, I think I got him.
>> Oh, it pulled out.
>> Oh, no.
>> I seen it take off.
>> I don't believe it. I need an instant
replay.
>> That is a
That's That's some crazy power.
>> Oh, that was a freaking giant.
>> That was a dart.
>> I was under him.
>> I got him. Oh, no, I didn't.
>> Dude.
>> And he just like
>> Was it in him?
>> I don't know.
>> All right, dude.
>> Please, please finish this at this
point.
>> Now, I love to say the reason why we
haven't gotten a fish yet is because we
just weren't seeing them, but that's
that's false. We were seeing plenty of
fish and we were also seeing plenty of
gators.
Like a lot of gators.
>> All right. Now for the real initiation,
cannonball.
>> All right.
Look at you first.
>> So, I grew up in Michigan. That gator
right in front of us just went down.
>> Hey, you better get off of that.
>> But normally, like if that was an
iguana, she'd dive on it.
>> Yeah.
>> And she would have done that with the
gator, too.
But I think
>> So, she just got bit by an alligator not
that long ago.
>> She was underwater. It had her. It was I
was a second away from losing her.
>> Oh my god.
>> Like she's
Uh no, I dove in and got a hold of the
alligator and it dropped her.
>> Dude, that's the most Florida man shives
ever heard.
>> But in earlier he was telling us, yeah,
there's probably one death a year with
alligators. There's normally some dude
saving a dog.
>> Well, dude, I I've always
>> [laughter]
>> I I talk a lot of I've always said
that if I had a chance to save my dog
from an alligator, I would and it's like
I was like I don't know if I'd be about
it.
>> Oh.
>> Just my luck.
>> Saw it, dude. I thought you smoked it.
>> I did, too.
>> All right, we're we're still we're still
alive so far.
These it won't to line up.
>> Well, they never they never they're
never sitting still.
>> Yes.
>> Get him. Oh, he pulled.
>> No.
>> I saw it. I felt that one, though.
>> Did you connect it for sure?
>> Holy dude. That was a piss
missile.
>> I mean, how long can I stay?
>> Yeah.
>> Do it right.
>> Dude.
>> Probably a lot.
>> Oh.
>> After blowing this thing a few hundred
times,
I have it No, I can't even say that with
a straight face. I I got it.
Well, what I'm trying to say is is I'm
not very good at this. I I I cannot hit
the fish for some reason. So, I'm
starting to lose hope. But, I'm not
leaving until I get one.
>> Whenever you're ready.
Come on.
What?
>> Hey, on the bright side, at least Luke
isn't out here slaying. I'm not the only
one struggling.
>> Definitely harder than the
>> That's got to be.
>> Dude.
>> Oh, no. No.
>> hit him. I'm telling you.
>> I don't think we're breaking the armor.
>> Punch more.
>> Oh.
>> Got his head.
>> Yes. Yeah, baby.
>> camera.
>> Bro, what? You had the camera going?
>> You've been at this for 2 hours. Set it
down for a
>> Oh, look at that. Through and through.
>> Dude, if y'all want to know about
penetration right there.
>> That's right.
>> You just can't hit him in his head, I
don't think.
>> Got to be body.
>> Dang.
>> It's a weird looking fish.
>> Got him. That is
>> Pick that thing up, Luke. Let me see it.
We got him.
>> You got to actually shoot
>> Yes.
>> Got him.
>> Come on.
>> Heck, yeah.
>> Let's go. Dude, look at that. Barely.
God, he's still got him in the boat,
though.
>> You just grazed him.
>> Finally, dude. That took way too long.
That took way too
>> So, we got editing man.
>> We got it done.
>> [music]
>> Just you wait
>> [singing]
>> and listen for the storm.
>> He's behind him.
>> He's the only one who can pull her.
>> Oh.
>> Hold down.
>> Don't lose it, please.
>> Yeah, catch and release.
>> The motherfucker's
huge, dude.
>> Bro, he's wrapped around my legs.
>> Oh.
>> Oh, no.
>> Oh, watch it.
>> Watch it, son.
>> It's the last you'll see of me.
>> Dude, that's a grip.
>> You're going to lose your foot here,
this thing.
>> And well, that was a very successful
trip removing these three invasive
pythons out of the Everglades. And just
to top it off,
I got some pretty awesome shoes made out
of these bad boys.
