the hero of the Proclamation and the first vice president of

Indonesia who was famous for being honest,

straight and modest during his life.

This man who was born in Bukittinggi on August 12, 1962

has made various contributions

and fighting spirit for

Indonesian independence in his youth. Bung Hatta

received his education at the Handels Hoge

School in Rotterdam, the Netherlands starting in

1921. While studying in

Rotterdam, he joined the

Indische Vereeniging youth organization

which later

transformed into the

Indonesian Association after returning to his homeland

in

1932. Bung Hatta focused on various

political activities both in

organizations and literacy in early

1945 when the Preparatory Committee for

Indonesian Independence was formed. Muhata was elected

as Bung Karno's deputy on August 16. In

1945, a small committee was formed to

draft the text of the proclamation, which was then

read by Soekarno and Hatta to proclaim

Indonesia's independence. Hatta was then

elected as the first vice president of

Indonesia, accompanying Bung Karno during

his term as vice president. Bung Hatta

was known as an honest figure.
