Welcome to our lesson

on the ideology of the New Age... The

objective of this lesson is to

understand three things by the end. I

intend for everyone to understand these

three things:

first, to

know the history of this movement

called the New Age or New Ex. So,

where did it originate? What are the

intellectual roots of this movement?

Second, to understand the

pillars of the New Age doctrine, what

they propose, and how this has

an influence that we often

ignore on our current lives,

on

political issues, and on

agenda decisions, including at a global level.

And the third objective is for us to understand

why a movement that may sound so

absurd

has a relevance

ignored by so many people,

to the point of being a tool for

political manipulation.

So, these are the three things we will

seek to understand today.

Initially,

all the investigation we have to

do

must seek the origin of the idea

and

understand what

historically originated the

New Age movement. This

will lead us down a path

that begins

somewhere, of course; there

are earlier origins,

evidently, but for the purposes we

intend here, we need to start

from some point, and we will start from the

Protestant Free Examination,

as proposed by Luther. This

establishes a new

trend of thought

that will have repercussions in philosophy because, as

you know, the thesis of free examination is that

sacred scripture does

not need a magisterium of the

Church

to say what it means.

Sacred scripture does not need to be

interpreted; it does not need authorized interpreters.

We know in Catholic doctrine

[Applause]

and in the Gospels that our Lord instituted

the Church and the College of the 12 apostles,

presided over by the first

among them, who has the primacy of all of

them, which is the apostle Saint Peter,

to interpret

the word of God, to teach the

truth that should be taught. And

the thesis of free examination says the following:

we no longer need this constraint;

now we can all do it. The Bible is

a patrimony of all, so

everyone can do it. Every Christian is

filled with the Holy Spirit to be able to

make the interpretation that God

inspires them to make about sacred scripture. So

the examination of scripture becomes a

free examination; that is why the thesis is

called free examination. Now, the moment

you establish that

the examination of sacred scripture can be

free,

this immediately

has relevance in philosophical terms

because that is

exactly where the philosophical trend begins.

Subjectivism, that

is, if all people

individually considered are

authorized interpreters, eliminates the

need for an institution,

an institution legitimized to make this

interpretation. If everyone can do it,

then the truth that matters is the Truth

of Each One, not the Truth of Each

Person.

Each individual can formulate their own

interpretation, not only of scripture

but of any other reality. Because

if it is possible to freely interpret the

word of God, then it is possible to

freely interpret anything else.

And if this free interpretation is

authorized and legitimate

simply because it is a mind

imbued with the Holy Spirit that is

doing it, then this interpretation can

be made in relation to any other

reality of human life.

Any truth can be

freely defined by the subject. Therefore, free

examination also establishes the free examination of

reality.

This is subjectivism.

However, subjectivism immediately leads

to another philosophical tendency that

will also become very famous during the

Renaissance and

later in the French Revolution, which

is rationalism.

Because, notice, one thing is a consequence

of the other:

if everyone can freely examine

scripture, then any person can

freely examine reality.

So, from free examination, we went to

subjectivism. Now, what makes it

possible for all people to have... The

legitimacy to

interpret scripture and all of reality

lies in one's own reason. Therefore, the

only thing that confers reason upon

subjects is their own reason;

they are right because they are

supported by human reason. They are no

longer supported by superstitions taught

by the Vatican or the Holy Faith.

They are no longer bound by the

dogmas of

antiquated and retrograde institutions. No, now

human reason is the only one; individual human reason

is the only pillar of truth.

And if this is so, then this

reason is legitimate and guarantees

any interpretation that is made. So

this is exactly the

current that we

call rationalism.

Rationalism will generate all this

kind of thing that we are used

to seeing in our society. Scientism

is a fruit of rationalism, right? So if

human reason is the

ultimate interpretative pillar of truth,

right? Individual human reason, that is, what

each person thinks, then it

is necessary to have a criterion to

separate what each person thinks.

What is the criterion? The criterion will be the

scientific method.

So, what people can measure, what

can be measured and proven

by the scientific method will be the truth.

You keep pulling one thing over

another,

and then you arrive at this question of

rationalism,

and rationalism leads us to another

trend

that will be dominant from then on, and which is

dominant in our current world,

which is

the ideology of the recreation of the world.

Because who is the lord of Truth?

If I ask any person,

any Catholic, they will say that the

lord is actually God the Creator, the

God who created all things. So,

since He created all things,

He knows and understands everything that was

created. Therefore, He is the lord of Truth.

He defines the rules of things, which

we call the divine Logos,

the divine order. Or He is the one who defines them.

Now, in rationalism, we see that

the lord of Truth is each person

imbued with thought.

So, where is the real world? It's

not outside of people, it's

inside their heads.

So,

everything I think,

being rational,

must be true.

Truth is not outside of me; there is no

criterion of truth external to

me. Truth is defined by myself, who

knows what method is applicable;

everyone will invent one, but truth is

defined by myself. Therefore, the world

is in my head.

And then you will see... It's fair to

say that we don't know

things, but only impressions of them that are

in our minds. We only have

impressions of things, and then you'll see

DK saying what his famous phrase is, right? That

if he thinks, then that's why

he exists.

He must exist first

to think, right? If he didn't exist, he wouldn't

think. So

I think, therefore I exist. Therefore,

existence

now depends on thought,

and knowledge of reality is never

knowledge of real reality; it's only

knowledge of an impression. So, if

the world is in my head,

if the impressions of reality are in

my head,

and if I am the one who defines what truth is,

what can I do from

then on?

Recreate the world,

no longer in the image and likeness of the

Creator, but in my own image and

likeness.

Man then becomes God of himself,

and this world that was created

by God the Father,

by the Divine Word that was in the

beginning of all things—this

world that was created by God is

insufficient. Now we can

modify it, we can

create something else, we can invert the

law of nature, we can subvert

man, but we can perfect man

and perhaps create a new man

because... What truly creates a new man

is the redeeming sacrifice of Christ.

But in this idea, you don't need

a Christ;

each person is their own Christ,

each person is their own creator and

redeemer.

So, notice that here we've made several

leaps in history, but I think the line can be

understood from free examination: we

arrive at subjectivism; from subjectivism we arrive

at rationalism; from rationalism

we arrive at a

trend that proposes the recreation of the entire world,

the subversion of nature and its replacement

with a new nature

perfected not by a Redeemer,

but by the work of man himself.

And in this tendency,

man

fits. So, as a new God,

he is the idol instituted by himself

to be

idolized and worshipped by himself.

This is where the search

for alchemy comes in,

to change

the constitution of nature, the

constitution of human life, to

achieve immortality—

not the immortality of the soul,

but immortality in this world,

material immortality—through

magic, the mastery of the secret powers of

nature.

Besides alchemy, we will also see

an emergence of everything around this time, right? The

17th and

16th centuries. Throughout this modern period, there was the

emergence of

societies

of philosophers, which were actually

secret societies,

clubs where

various types of esotericism and

paganism were studied.

For example, Isaac

Newton, the father of modern physics,

was an alchemist.

A fact that people didn't know

about him was discovered by Lord

Keynes,

the economist, who bought

his papers and found

a series of

writings on chemistry.

So, the father of modern physics was an

alchemist.

The rationalists of the French Revolution

were members of secret societies. The

French Revolution was entirely planned

within clubs, clubs of philosophers who

practiced precisely this type of

study, as did

Freemasonry, for example.

So, all of this revolves around

a search for hermetic wisdom, that is,

wisdom reserved

for a few enlightened people,

enlightened by reason,

creators of the world.

And they will begin to seek this

wisdom that is not

accessible to most people in the

world because most people

are ignorant and still believe in

religion.

But What matters is not the religion that

binds people to the dogmas of the institution; what

matters is finding for these people the

wisdom that can recreate humanity,

recreate the entire world, and this wisdom

is hidden somewhere

in magic, in alchemy,

in ancient paganism. That's where

Christianity becomes the great

villain of the story. That's why

Christianity burned witches;

the church burned witches because it

was to prevent people from

learning that ancient wisdom that

would make them

immortal, and the church didn't want that

because it would break its dominion, the

dominion of dogmas.

The church persecuted

the

Druids, or whoever they were. And that's how

all the harassment of stories is created. It

persecuted them because it was to prevent

people from accessing the

ancient wisdom that these groups

reserved.

So when the church went to the

barbarians, it destroyed the barbarian idols

because there people had access

to this secret doctrine, and now the

church has put an end to that. So

Christianity becomes the great villain of the

story from then on. And then,

immediately in that same period,

an idealization of paganism begins,

which is something... Even today,

everything that was Pagan, everything that was Barbarian,

everything

related to

ancient religions,

ancient mythologies—

all of that was more valid than

Christianity

because those secret doctrines that

were lost, that were practiced

by the Druids, that were practiced by the

Witches, that were practiced by, in short, by

all those types of groups that existed at the

time or before it—these

secret doctrines had the capacity to

transform man into a more

superior and perfect being,

and Christianity doesn't allow that.

Christianity is very laborious; it

demands that you worship something

called virtue, not that you

strive through great

effort to overcome sin

and work to develop

human virtues, the excellence of virtues, to

mirror the Redeemer.

This is very difficult, while there was

an easier way to make

man perfect

without needing all these difficulties

imposed by the cross of Christ.

This way, one could resort to magic, to

actually perform magic to

recreate the human being. So the

transformation of man ceases to be

an inner transformation of man

through virtue, through salvation, the

search for the salvation of the soul,

and becomes... It's about recreating human nature

through

magic,

and here I mean all types of

esotericism that are sought, like the one

I presented, to be able to

activate what they

call the quantum energies

of Atlantis.

Because the people of Atlantis were

far more elevated and superior to the

current world, so we have to

rediscover how the Atlanteans

connected with cosmic energy.

So you have the recreation of man

through magic,

but also the recreation of man

through a new type of magic,

which is the machine,

technology,

the recreation of man and nature

through technology. So the binomial

magic and machine

will become the determinants of

modernity,

and that's why, at the same time that you

find in the current world

this search for these

esoteric doctrines, for the wisdom of Atlantis, and

whatever the

cosmic quantum energies and everything else may be,

at the same time you will find alongside

this the search for the

transformation of man into a machine. The

synthesis of man and machine,

transforming man into a cyborg—that's what

transhumanism is. Transhumanism

actually has an alchemical root

because in alchemy, what they

sought was precisely to modify

human nature to make man more perfect

through man's own strength.

So, through two formulas,

possessive tears, etc., and

all those kinds of rituals,

man had to become more

perfect through his own strength.

And what is sought with the machine is

exactly the same thing,

with this idea that technology is

the determining factor of everything,

transforming technology into an idol

and

exalting its

undeniable benefits, but exalting it to the point of

being worshipped

and of a man becoming a Machine Man.

So all this, transhumanism is

exactly that. But we'll come back to

this subject. So, with this, we

already understand a little about the

philosophical roots of

what becomes the New Age Movement.

But to truly understand the New Age,

we will need to

understand some

specific characters

from

this

historical moment we are outlining here,

and specifically talk about an

association that emerges. In 1875, in

New York City, in the United States, there was what is

called the Theosophical Society.

I don't know if you've heard

of the Theosophical Society, but it

was founded in 1875 in New York by

a colonel named Harry Allcott.

He was a lawyer and journalist who had

served in the American Civil War.

He

initially founded the Theosophical Society

with an academic objective. What was

his objective? Look at

Theosophy, what does it mean? Theosophy is the

wisdom of God.

So,

Harry Allcott's objective was to study comparative religion. That's what

he wanted. So, the purpose

of the Theosophical Society he founded,

which at that time had about 12 or

14 members, was to conduct an academic study.

Its statutes were based

on the statutes of other

academic societies in the United States, in the

fields of geography, of

people who studied the

humanities.

He wanted to do a comparative study of religion

to find the common points

between them. What was his thesis?

His thesis was that all these religions

that exist

actually derive from a previous religion,

which was the religion of... The entire world,

and then this religion of the entire world

separated and generated several

branches which are the traditional religions.

So there was a primary religion of

humanity, where was this

religion?

Some will say it was in Atlantis, it

was the religion of the Atlanteans.

Then after Atlantis

disappeared, the continent disappeared. So the

heirs of Atlantis each went

their own way and then they took a

piece of the tradition to each place.

And that's how other branches of traditional religions opened up.

Others will say that

this primary religion was the only

language spoken before the Tower of Babel.

scripture happened, like the Tower of Babel,

people started speaking

different languages ​​because they were trying to reach

heaven,

right? They tried to reach God, to be like

God.

So this primary religion was this,

this language, this culture that existed

before the event of the Tower of Babel, and

after the Tower of Babel,

everything got confused, everyone got confused, each one

only took a piece,

only a piece remained for each side. So

the idea of ​​the

Theosophical Society was to do a comparative study of

religion to... To verify if there

was a common point among all

religions,

they wanted to

base their study on

sacred texts, the oldest religious texts known to man.

What were these oldest texts? The

oldest texts they

considered primary sources of

religion

were

the Vedas of the Hindus,

which are truly very ancient,

and the Hermetic Corpus,

by a mythical author named Hermes

Trismegistus. The

Hermetic Corpus was a compilation of

esoteric and Gnostic doctrines that were quite

popular in Asia and Africa.

He compiled them, a

compendium of these things. That's where the

word "hermetic" comes from, referring to

these closed, esoteric, hidden doctrines.

It was believed in ancient times that the

Hermetic Corpus was an ancient text, dating back to

the time of the pyramids

or the time of Moses.

When people read the

Hermetic Corpus, they saw many points that

resembled the doctrines of Plato, which

are much later, and the

doctrines of Christ in the Gospel, which are also much

later. So, what did people

conclude when they read it? Hermetic bodies.

Look, you're talking about a

document from the time of the pyramids that

says things very similar to what's

in the Gospels and what Plato says, so

it's a sign that Plato and the Gospels

came from a common source

because if... This thing here is

piercing Plato, it's piercing the

Gospel, it's piercing other things

that only emerged later, so it's a sign

that there was a primary source common

to all things that later

separated. But then

in

1614,

a Calvinist theologian

named

Isaac Casal Bon

conducted a

linguistic, historical, and all

sorts of studies

to see if this dating of the

Hermetic Corpus of Hermes Trismegistus really

made sense as being from the time of the

pyramids,

and he proved it in 1614.

This was one of the reasons why

this document fell into disrepute.

He proved in 1614 that it wasn't,

through the linguistic study of the

document itself. It's possible to see

that it was written between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD,

so it wasn't from the time of the pyramids.

Therefore, what was seen as a

prefiguration of Plato and Christ was

actually a figuration because it was

later.

But this dating error, which was

common for a long time for the

Hermetic Corpus, is what led

to the thesis that there is a

primary source common to all religions. It was

a dating error.

But the idea was already widespread,

the idea was already widespread, there is a

primary religion, an ancient wisdom,

because understand, it's a fact that truth is

one thing and that human reason

has the capacity to find the truth

if it observes things sincerely.

So, we will indeed find

elements of truth in various cultures,

but does this mean that they all come from a

primary source,

or that all people are looking

at the same thing?

Because these are two different things.

One thing is something—a video, a primary photograph—

that later differentiated itself for

everyone. Another thing is several

different people looking at the same

truth and saying, "It's like this."

So, if I look at a stone, you look

at a stone on this side, and a person

looks at another stone, at the same stone on the

other side, and both say, "It's a stone,"

in different languages, in different ways,

but they say the same thing, which is that

they are announcing a

truth that is outside of themselves,

the truth of the real world. So they are

looking at the same thing, that's why

they can announce the same truth.

So, recognize that truth is one

and that it is possible to find elements of

truth in various places,

to follow that advice of Saint Paul

and observe everything and remain with... What's good about this is that it's

different from saying

that everything that exists came from a primary source,

a primary source that precedes and surpasses

all these religions that exist today,

right? And that they are only a very

faint reflection of that ancient religion that is the

true one,

whether it's the religion of Atlantis, the

religion of Babel, or whatever it may be.

But as I was saying, the dating error

was discovered, but the idea was already

circulating, and many people already

believed in it,

and the document fell into disrepute. That's a fact;

the thesis itself

fell into disrepute, but not in restricted circles,

precisely in

those clubs, in those

philosophical societies that

brought together philosophers,

revolutionaries, politicians,

scientists. Because what

united these people? What

united them?

The minds of these people who were associated there.

What united them

was the attempt to escape

the Truth

that was proclaimed by the church. That's why

they had so much anger towards the church;

they wanted something different.

So, this society ends up becoming

the place where these people go to

discuss these issues, and in them, this

idea survives—

the idea of ​​ancient primary wisdom.

It survives, it's disseminated

through Masonic lodges, right, through

the Rosicrucians, a series of

secret societies that will emerge

or consolidate during this period and will

spread throughout the world, and it will remain there,

remain there. So

we are heirs to what we are

heirs to from the Egyptians; we

preserve here a wisdom that came from

the pharaohs or from the

Tibetan monks who are hidden in the

mountain range.

So we preserve here the wisdom

of these people, that's why we have to keep it

secret, it has to be very well

guarded; it's a treasure that has to be

very well guarded. This will remain, it will

survive in this society, and in the

19th century it

will re-emerge as a philosophical idea.

An

American philosopher

named Harry

Emerson

created a movement

called transcendentalism.

Transcendentalism is the idea that

people

need to

grow in self-knowledge

so that their individual self can

immerse itself in the transcendental self of

humanity. In other words, there is a

higher Self, which is the self

of all humanity,

and the individual self—I here,

I am just a tiny particle of it. A small

fragment of it, so I need to

immerse myself

in myself to be able to rediscover the

path to transcendence. This

is something that goes from subjectivism

to another ascendancy in a leap. But

this transcendentalization

is

the idea that there is a

superior collective intellect, which is something

we will trace back to the voice. The voice is a

Muslim philosopher who commented on

Aristotle and who believed that

all intelligences are merely

fragments of a superior divine intelligence.

This will generate what collectivism

means: people,

individual subjects, only have value if they are

integrated into the collective subject

and into political ideologies. This

collective subject can assume various

forms: it will be the party, it will be the race, it will

be the nation, it will be whatever it may

be.

So,

transcendentalism in this period

here, right?

Entering the transcendental self of all

humanity will resume the idea that there is

a primary wisdom that is not the

wisdom of one religion or another, nor

of one philosophy or another; it is a

wisdom

of the transcendental self, a wisdom of

humanity,

a morality that is not a Christian morality,

not a Jewish morality, not a

Muslim morality, not a morality of... The ethics

of humanity, a human ethic that

transcends all these divisions,

transcends all religions and

philosophies.

Around this same time, in the 19th century,

due to this type of thinking, there was

a great dissemination of Hindu texts.

The West then discovered something

that wasn't so well-known until then:

the texts of the Hindu religion.

And you stop to think about the following:

before all this happened, if everything

we're talking about here... there was a

rationalist and scientistic moment, and

we saw that this necessarily leads

to movements of recreation of the world, and

then we arrive at these esotericisms, etc.

So, two things that seem opposite

but in fact originate naturally from

one another, don't they? So we saw this,

but

this isn't what happened with

religion in the rest of the world.

So, at the moment when

rationalism and scientism are established, what

happens is

a

new tendency to reject the

value of religion.

Secularism reigns,

laicism reigns. An

example of this is the French Revolution, right?

And then communism. So, you see, where there is no

study of being rational, where there is only

reason and science, there is no space for

religion.

So pay attention...

Ancient and esoteric wisdom was being given over

to religion, as its time has

passed. As a

result, this is destroying the

public space that religion possesses,

and once that

public space is destroyed, people

are left without spirituality.

It is at this moment that

other

spiritual pursuits, such as spiritism,

secret societies of this kind, and

other things, begin to emerge. It is no coincidence that

spirituality had been destroyed,

and where true and

real spirituality is destroyed, it is

human nature that desires it that is destroyed.

So, what else will man seek?

Other things?

Dogmas are things of the past. So,

what will we seek? Esotericism?

Wisdom?

Eastern wisdom?

Chinese wisdom?

Confucianism? Hindu texts?

Hindu texts?

So, at this time, we will see the

dissemination

of

Eastern texts in a very

ostentatious way because people were

searching for some spiritual root,

but they were already

uneducated to believe in Christianity. It had

already been destroyed for them, of

course, that wasn't the case at the time. It

wasn't a widespread trend yet. Today it's

more so, right? This continued, you see,

continuing until the present day. In

Emerson's diary

in 1839, he says exactly that: that

for him, the Bible

meant ethical revelation

considered in a general way,

including the Vedas of the Hindus, the

sacred writings of all nations, and

not just the Hebrews.

So,

in fact, a transcendental Bible

is a Bible that encompasses the

sacred texts of all religions of all

eras, and not just the Hebrews.

So, in this period, precisely here that

we are talking about, a mysterious and unusual character will enter the scene, who will be

very important to what we

are discussing here:

Helena Petrovina,

a Russian woman

known

more commonly as Madame Blavatsky.

Madame Blavatsky arrived in New York

in 1873.

We were talking about the

Theosophical Society, which was founded in 1875 by

Henry Alcott. Madame Blavatsky

arrived in New York in 1873,

fleeing from fraud.

She had already done this in other places,

for example in Egypt, where

she had conducted two

paranormal investigations, etc.,

she left for the United States. She

Harry Walking,

took the Theosophical Society to

another level

because Harry Potter founded it in 1875. The

This society. This Theosophical Society.

his concerns were academic,

but Madame Blavatsky,

according to people's accounts,

possessed

a hypnotic attraction over others.

She could control people in

a way that no one knows

and manipulate them. You can

For someone who gets involved with this kind of occult stuff, the

nature of things they

meddle with, it's not very healthy.

kind of hypnotic attraction and she began to

So she would hold a position in the Theosophical Society

and it was signed by a guy called

Tweet Bay

or Tweet Bi, I don't know how to

pronounce it, who claimed to be

a grand master of a spiritual fraternity

based in Egypt. The Luxor Mystic Brotherhood,

and he wrote this letter saying that

Helena Petrovina Blavatsky was a

highly initiated person in the mysteries of the

Luxor Mystic Brotherhood

and

that Harry should take care of her

and provide her with an apartment to

live in.

Harry was already involved with these

things of ancient wisdom,

lotteries, etc., and he thought it was

wonderful to know that he was receiving

a letter from a Grand Master of an

Egyptian Brotherhood that preserves the knowledge

of the ancients of the pyramids, etc. So

he thought this, but my goodness, a letter

on green paper with gold ink saying

that this woman I met is an

initiate in the ancient mysteries of the

Egyptians.

Of course I'm going to take care of this woman, and

then he starts paying her bills.
