But basically this meeting is a musical meeting, a meeting where we exchange repertoire, score, have the experience of rehearsing together.

What we want with Encoros is a deeper proposal, in which we can share ministerial visions, promote an experience of exchange of experiences in relation to worship, liturgical practices, repertoire, and also leadership and training. So we will have in this Encoros some moments for the main choir, first because it is an internal event, it begins internally between the choirs of the Black Barre Church and also the main choir of our church.

So, in this internal moment, we will have training. We have teachers who come from there, who work at the Municipal Theater of Belo Horizonte. Look how cool! And our teachers here too, like teacher Andrea. Wonderful too! The singing teacher. And they will be promoting there a training and training moment. More than numbers, this represents people committed to a vision that surpasses our generation and that will impact many lives for the glory of God. We are currently in the first phase of the project, which consists of acquiring the necessary properties for the realization of the entire planned complex.

Brothers, family, friends. Joseph knew this pain. This pain caused by the closest. Joseph, he was betrayed by his brothers, taken out of his house, forgotten in prison. Joseph knew what the pain was, coming from those whom he trusted the most. The betrayal, the fear, the insecurity.

And twenty years later, when Joseph was sold by his brothers as a slave. Twenty years later, having been taken from his house, from his father's house. Twenty years later, his servants are kneeling before him. Twenty years later, his servants are pleading for mercy to the governor of all Egypt, without recognizing that the governor was Joseph.

And Joseph, he is in a position of power. Joseph is the second most powerful person in that world. Below only the Pharaoh. And he has his brothers, his alcoves, crying for mercy, for food, with their knees before him. The scenario of the payment, of the account, was set up.

How many people have not dreamed of having their elbows on their knees, in a different situation, in a situation of total weakness, in a situation of complete vulnerability, because now Joseph had the power. And the moment to make the right decisions had arrived. And the construction of the narrative of Joseph with his brothers.

It is a construction that you and I need to understand, internalize, about what forgiveness is. And let us untie these knots that inhabit our history and our soul. Because the first truth that we learn from Joseph is that forgiveness does not erase pain. Forgiving is not denying pain.

The forgiveness does not erase the pain. Let's say this together? The forgiveness does not erase the pain. Because Joseph will start by saying to his brothers the following, I am Joseph, your brother, those that you sold. You sold. I am Joseph, your brother.

The interesting thing about this text is that Joseph does not suffer from amnesia. Joseph does not pretend that nothing happened. Joseph does not erase history. Joseph does not enter into oblivion, because forgiving, my dear ones, is not forgetting.

Nomear, saying, you sold me. You remember, 20 years ago, you sold me. You caused me harm. Forgiving is not denying the past. The teachings of the Bible about forgiveness are not teachings of denial. Joseph gives name. Gives name to evil. Forgiving is not forgetting. And it's interesting because the biblical teaching about forgiveness has nothing to do with forgetting, with denial, but has to do with liberation and redemption. Because the wounds continued there. It's impossible to erase from memory. It was impossible to erase from memory of Joseph what it was like to have been a slave, people, in those days. To have gone through prison.

This is forgiveness. You talk about the scars, but these scars no longer govern your emotions. These scars no longer govern your decisions. Because you talk about them, and when we talk about our scars, we show liberation. Joseph speaks, Jesus shows. Forgiving is not to eliminate history, but it is to say that suffering no longer governs my life. I show the scars.

But I tell a much more beautiful story about them. I don't tell about the scars and how they affected me. But I tell what God did in these scars that I'm showing. You can put this text. There are people who spend decades trying to pretend that nothing happened. But the cure begins when we have the courage to say, it happened. It hurt. It was unfair.

Christian forgiveness does not begin by denying pain. Christianity is not about denial, but about forgiveness, about redemption. Yes, it hurts, yes, it hurt, yes, you sold me, I will never forget these scars. But they no longer govern my life.

They no longer govern my story. They no longer determine my choices. They no longer determine my memories. They no longer control my feelings. They no longer control my emotions. To forgive is not to deny the pain, but to say that the pain no longer governs my life. There is a second truth about forgiveness that we learn from Joseph. Forgiveness sees the sovereignty of God above wounds. Let's say that together?

God made him well. Do you know why Joseph refuses to look at his life from the betrayal of his brothers? But he makes a re-reading of his story, looks at God, because when we concentrate on looking only at our wounds, we become victims and our identity becomes our wound and Joseph did not want to say, I am a victim. This was not Joseph's identity. The brothers did wrong.

And he says to them, you did me wrong, you sold me. But God made him well. Because the identity of Joseph would not be connected to his wound, to his trauma, to his pain, to his abuse, to the betrayal he suffered, no. His identity would not be his wound, his identity would be what God did powerfully in his wound.

In the wound they caused him. And Joseph tells another story. Joseph will tell him a story of the power of redemption that exists in the name of God, even when we are the target of the clutches of other people.

Joseph is going to tell the story of what God can do even when people abused you, betrayed you, forgot you, demanded too much, demanded less, because we are not the result of what happened to us. The pain is not sovereign, the suffering does not have the final word. We are the result of what the Lord does in our history, even in the face of injuries and abuses. Can you put this text, please? There are people...

that were defined by what happened to them. But our identity cannot be built by our traumas. It is built by the grace of God. You are not just what they did against you, with you, in you. You are what God is doing in you. The history of our scars points to the history of God's redemption.

God's power. You don't deny your story. And you refuse to look at your life from the lens of your wound. You look at your story from the mercy of God. God was sovereign. Not suffering. You planned wrong. You tried. You caused me pain. But God made me well.

God transformed into good, because it is God who transforms the evils of our lives into blessings. And Joseph, sold, betrayed, slave, forgotten, is the second most powerful man of that time, raised by God. There is a third lesson about forgiveness that we learn from Joseph, that forgiveness frees more the offended than the offender. Let's see this together?

"Forgiveness frees the offended more than the offender." And then Joseph will say something wonderful. Look what Joseph will say: "Get closer, get closer." Guys, only those who forgive can say: "Get closer." Because as long as we don't forgive, we want... I don't want to see this person painted in front of me. If I see... If I find this person,

who did this to my son, my husband, my friend, I don't answer for myself. I don't want to see anyone painted here in gold in front of me. I don't want to see anyone anymore. I don't want to know. Only forgiveness breaks the distance caused by the evils, traumas and wounds. And Joseph forgave to say, get closer.

Come closer. I'm not afraid of you anymore. The Lord has already freed me from this fear. You can come closer. The forgiveness only provides that. The breaking and the detachment that the evils bring upon us. Because Joseph, he won something very important. And that is a knot that hinders the forgiveness, which is the bitterness. The bitterness.

Because it seems that while we don't forgive, we are causing suffering in the other. And it seems that if we forgive, the other will stop suffering. And he will stop paying for the evil he caused. Joseph was freed from this prison. Joseph overcame bitterness. Because bitterness is what contaminates, what takes away the flavor. When we don't forgive...

We live the bitter, and the bitter, people, it will contaminate everything and everyone. You can put this phrase, please. Bitterness is an invisible prison. Bitterness is an invisible prison. It occupies space in the soul. It steals joy. It poisons new relationships. It transforms wounded into people who hurt. In wounded women.

But you have wounds that are not treated. You have wounds that have formed pus. And this knot is already confused with the rope. You don't know what a knot is and you don't know what a rope is. Because bitterness does that. And bitterness is contaminated because hurt people hurt. Wounded people hurt. But only healed people heal and forgiven people forgive. And Joseph defeated bitterness.

Joseph broke this border in his life. He will say: "Get closer." How do you allow a man to get closer? You don't want his distance? You don't want distance? And Joseph will say: "Get closer." Joseph was free. Joseph had overcome the prison of bitterness. But there is another truth about forgiveness. Forgiveness produces reconciliation, but pay attention: it doesn't always restore everything immediately.

Let's say this together? Look what verse 1 says.

The Lord did not call us to live in toxic environments. To forgive is one thing, to live in toxic environments is another. You can put this text. Jesus sent to love the enemies, but never sent to ignore wisdom. There are relationships that can be fully restored, others may never be as before. This does not mean the lack of forgiveness. To forgive is not to remain in abusive environments.

Forgiving is not allowing manipulation. Forgiving is not canceling healthy limits. Grace and truth walk together. And Joseph only managed to live with his brothers after he saw that they changed. You need to change. It's not pretending. No, nothing happened. Some cases that are taken to the pastoral office are cases of occurrence.

abusive environments, toxic relationships. Joseph will only react to the relationship with his brothers after he saw that all that by which the evils were caused, that stopped. They changed. Joseph did not want to enter an abusive relationship again. He would not tell who he was and that's it, it's over. And he would go back there and continue his life.

But he allows us to get closer, because he saw the difference between the brothers. He noticed the change in his brothers. You can put this last sentence: "Forgiving is not saying that the wound did not exist. Forgiving is declaring that it will not have the last word."

Looking to the past explains a lot in our history. But only when we look to Christ, we find redemption, we find grace, we find forgiveness and we find hope. And Joseph was saying, hey, you sold me, you hurt me.

But the Lord made them well. And today I can talk about these scars that happened in my life. That caused these scars, these pains, without them determining my choices and attitudes. Because these scars are healed. These marks on my hands are precisely to show that the Lord won.

It was what Jesus did. By showing the thorns, He was trying to show that victory belongs to the Lord. It doesn't belong to the thorns, it doesn't belong to the marks, it doesn't belong to the wounds. Because the Lord, He is sovereign. To forgive is not to deny the pain, but it is to prevent it from governing your story. And close your eyes at this moment. Maybe you need to start a forgiveness, and forgiveness you can give this morning. Reconciliation is a process, people.

I refuse to look at myself as a victim from my weaknesses.

I am the target of your sovereignty and keep writing this story. Do you need this forgiveness? Do you need this affirmation before God? You can pray where you are, saying: Lord Jesus, I cry for this, for the Lord in my story. I will ask you for just one gesture, that you stand up, if you are praying this way. That you put yourself humbly, humiliating yourself before the Lord, saying:
