hey everybody welcome to this b1 English

0:02

listening practice video you can use

0:05

this video to train your listening and

0:07

comprehension as I speak so today I'm

0:10

gonna talk about the beach this is a

0:12

subject that most people like because

0:14

most people like the beach but I would

0:16

say that I'm actually in that small

0:18

minority of people that don't really

0:19

love the beach

0:20

I'd say that I sometimes like going to

0:22

the beach but honestly I prefer other

0:24

types of terrain but I'll get back to

0:26

that later let's talk about all the cool

0:29

beach activities that you can do first

0:31

of all there are a ton of cool sports

0:33

that can be played in the sand like

0:35

volleyball soccer football etc I've got

0:39

to say that even though I'm not all that

0:40

crazy about the beach beach volleyball

0:42

is one of the sports that I love the

0:44

most

0:45

there's just something about moving and

0:47

diving around in the sand that I really

0:49

like and I'm fairly tall so I have the

0:51

advantage of being able to spike the

0:53

ball over the net which is pretty fun

0:55

soccer and football can also be fun to

0:58

play on the beach but for me I think I

1:00

prefer to play those sports on normal

1:02

grass it's just easier to move around

1:04

it's flat and you can play on a bigger

1:07

field so besides sports of course one of

1:09

the other things that people do on the

1:11

sand is sunbathe now this is something

1:13

that I could never do in a million years

1:15

because I burned super easily if you put

1:18

me out in the Sun for a few hours I'd

1:20

come back looking like a ripe tomato no

1:22

joke I'm sure some of you might say

1:24

something similar some of us get a nice

1:26

tan when we're out in the Sun and some

1:28

of us burn badly I remember one of my

1:31

all-time worst sunburns was when I went

1:33

on a pretty long bike ride wearing a

1:35

sleeveless shirt it was kind of cloudy

1:37

outside so I didn't think I needed

1:39

sunscreen and boy was I wrong

1:42

my arms were peeling for a long time

1:44

after that day okay so back to the beach

1:47

let's talk about some of the different

1:49

water activities now growing up I did

1:51

some boogie boarding which I actually

1:53

find pretty fun it just doesn't look as

1:55

cool as surfing if you've never been

1:57

boogie boarding before it's when you

1:59

have a rectangular board and you lie

2:01

down on it and when a big wave comes it

2:04

pushes you into the shore it's pretty

2:06

fun I've actually been thinking about

2:08

learning to surf recently because I've

2:10

had a few different students who are

2:11

surfers and they

2:12

talk to me about it and made it sound

2:14

pretty cool so maybe I might try it but

2:17

I don't think I'd be that good at it

2:18

besides surfing and boogie-boarding

2:20

there are also some other more exotic

2:22

looking activities like kite surfing and

2:25

windsurfing and some boat activities

2:28

like jet skiing or sailing I have been

2:31

sailing before but on the bay not in the

2:33

ocean sailing is something that would be

2:35

cool to get into but it takes a lot of

2:37

practice training and dedication and so

2:40

I don't think I'll ever go that route

2:42

alright so I mentioned earlier that I'm

2:44

not a big beach guy and that's mainly

2:46

for two reasons the first is the Sun I

2:49

burn easily and the second is that if I

2:51

have free time I prefer to go to other

2:53

places like the mountain the forest the

2:56

countryside even the desert so it's not

2:59

that I don't like the beach I just like

3:01

other nature places better but despite

3:03

that fact I've lived close to the beach

3:06

for most of my life and I know I'm lucky

3:08

for that alright so that's all for today

3:10

leave a comment and tell me some of the

3:12

things that you like doing at the beach

3:14

I'll see you next video
