Hi, my name is Tomáš Golej and welcome to the next part of the series "How to edit videos in DaVinci Resolve". Last time we presented the program, I showed you where to download it, we looked at the user environment and finally we imported and distributed individual video files to the Media Page.

Today we will go straight to the very three videos. Before I start putting the shots on the timeline, I will explain the basic environment. This is the basic resolution that you should have. If you don't have it, you can tap workspace reset UI layout. This means that the setting of the windows will reset to the original settings so that we

and I switch the single view mode to the top right corner, there is a tab, when I click it, there is only one screen and that is the timeline. When I click it again, there are two screens and that is the first option I explained to you. This single view mode is more sophisticated in my opinion, because it is so hybrid, I would say.

because if I need to have a timeline preview, I have a timeline preview. But if I need to have a media pool preview, I have a media pool preview. It automatically switches to the media pool. If I double click on the shot, I have it here. And if I want to have a timeline preview, I just have to click on the timeline and I have a timeline preview. Which is perfect in my opinion. Okay, let's move on to

First, Media Pool. I think it's clear. Media Pool is basically the whole thing we've moved. Media Pool is clear. Let's move on. We have the panel effects. When I tap it and I have Media Pool on, it will split into two halves.

We can turn off the MediaPool. If we want to work only with the effects panel, we turn off the MediaPool and the effects are stretched all over the height. Here we can set different types of transitions. Video transitions, audio transitions, titles. Then there are generators, which are also when we want some colors or background color.

effects, audio effects. But what is very important within this panel is the inspector. It is divided into several positions. Not all of them are highlighted now, I'll explain. The first position is video. Here we can make various changes in terms of image zoom, change of position, change of rotation of the shot,

different angles, we can flip the image, i.e. mirror rotation. This is a little more advanced thing, I will not deal with cropping now. This is also a nice thing sometimes. Then we have dynamic zoom, I'll show you that later in this video. Composite mode, speed change, image stabilization,

So, a lot of things that can be done with this shot. If you decide it like me, you don't have to follow the same path you have worked on, but you just need to turn this "Master undo" button, which will return all the changes you have made here. Then we have audio.

This is something like an extended mixer because the mixer is basically a layer and we can make some changes here. We have more options here in the audio edit. Then we have effects, I have it now grayed out because I don't have any effect on the shot, but I can throw some. I can throw some Open Effects there. What do we put there?

Zoom Blur is the zoom in and out function. Now we have active effects and we can set parameters for them. Then we have Transition. When we have a transition, we can edit it. And the last part of the route.

The next one is Timeline. As you can see, we can put some shots and video. It is divided into upper part which is video and lower part which is audio. We can move these parts, we can reduce and increase them.

and we can also switch them even if we have more layers. Let's say we have two layers of video and two layers of audio and we want the meat to be on top, so we can change it to Move Track. Ok, I'll put this aside. Let's start with a clean floor and let's go.

I would start by playing some music. So let's play some music and move it to audio 1. Personally, when I'm shooting a video, especially this type of video, I first listen to the song, the composition and I try to close my eyes and visualize

I will try to put the scenes in my head, so that I can see what would be in the individual passages of the song. I see that the rhythmically repeated parts of the song are evoked in the video.

I can shorten the composition if it's too long. It's a nice thing. It's almost finished. It takes about a minute. I'll cut it here. Then there's the second part of the song, which is either a different version or the same again.

So I will cut it here and use Blade Mode and here we can see the top panel. The red arrow is basically the normal mode with the arrow as you have. This arrow is Blade Mode, normal mode is keyboard shortcut A and the arrow is

B. So we'll put the "Glass" and when I go through this audio stop with the "Glass" you can see that I have a thin red line here which tells me where the cut will be. So I'll tap on that spot and I've already cut it. I'll tap "A" to get back to normal mode and I can separate this part and erase it with "Backspace".

I would like to make it more quiet at the end. I'll let the end slide. It can be completely finished here. We'll move it like this. We'll grab the end. You see those two like a play on the lock against each other. When we grab it, we can shorten the composition like this. Or it also applies to the video file.

And here we have a white dot on top, which when I pull, I can silence the end of the song in this way. So it ends nicely, without any problems. So we have the song here and we can start putting video files. I'll turn off this effects panel, because I won't need it now.

Let's open the camera function. Let's open the camera function and I'm going to think first which shot would be suitable as the first. I'll let it go again. I'll let this go again. OK. Good. So before this first bit starts, I would like to give a starting shot, which is 2 seconds. What could we put there?

I thought that I could also add the diamonds. I thought that I could show you that we can adjust the shots according to the time they were created. Let's click on this icon up here.

Now we have them arranged according to the title of the file and we can arrange them according to the date they were created. Date created, but we have it in the default and I want it in the default, so here I have ascending and descending, so like this. And now it's arranged exactly according to how we shot it.

which helps a bit in this orientation because you just remember what and how you shot. And I would like to put the first shot, there was a shot as I moved the bowl with the needles, where was it? This, no, this is already a cut, this. I'll make a look at the mouse, so this. So I want to use this shot, so I'll click on it twice, it will automatically transfer here.

and I can work with it here. I could do something like this, that I would move it here. I will set it like this, but we have it long, we have to shorten it here, we have to move it here and it is not very practical. A much better option is to move it to this window and shorten the shot right here. So

We move this slider to the place where the shot should start. OK, this is it. It could start here. Here I want the shot to start and I press the shortcut key "I". It means "in point". It means I will mark the beginning of the shot. If we don't want to use the shortcut key, we can use the mouse. We click on this "mark in" icon. OK, backspace on. I'll play.

and here it could end. We press O as Outpoint. So we have the start and end of the shot marked and now we have several options again. We can simply grab the shot and move it here, which is fine, but before we do that, we will explain what these two icons mean. Because we may not want to use

audio from this shot but only video shot in this case we use this icon we tap only on the film icon and we'll move it here to the beginning if we want to use only audio shot audio stop so we tap on this icon and we use only audio stop now we would like to slow down the shot because as you can see

is very short and doesn't fit at all. Since it is shot in 100 frames per second, we can slow it down to four times. We slow it down by right clicking on the clip and we select the option Change Clip Speed. There are more options for slowing down, this is the easiest one in my opinion, so I'll show you this one.

Clip 100% is the normal speed in which it was shot and we want to slow it down by 4 times so we set 25% change and that's it. Now one thing has changed and the Outpoint has changed. We have set the time from when the shot should go until when it should go.

but by slowing it down, the shot ends here. So we simply pull it, we pull it up if we want to have it. And according to the sound wave, I want to have it up. Now I don't know if you noticed, but this way we can zoom the time axis, zoom and zoom out.

There is also a shortcut key and the option. We hold the option button or... How is it in Windows? I'll find out and put it in the title. But on Mac it's an option and a mouse wheel. Zoom in, zoom out. We also have other icons here. For example, this first one is the view of the entire time axis, which we have cut.

and the second middle icon is that it zooms in on the place where we are cutting. So we have the first shot in, we can also do fade in, which means that just like with the sound, we pull this white dot, we set how it should be from dark to light at the beginning of the shot. Let's do it.

but we wanted something different so here we have beats and we wanted to add another shot so we'll put it like this, like this ok, let's play great, good in the next part of the song we have some beats that we would normally use and tune into the beats so let's listen so here we have 1, 2, 3, 4

4 beats and it would be ideal to keep the cut at least for 3 minutes. It doesn't have to be on every beat, but at least here at the beginning I would like to keep it. It doesn't have to be on every beat, nor should it be cut so that each beat of the song would be a cut. It will then make the video quite boring.

Ok, let's choose which shots could go to the beats. It could be some short things like pulling the knife for example. And yes, that's good. Ok, so we'll click twice again. We'll click twice and see which shot time we'll use. Ok, we can put in point here. And here we put out point.

so we will use this shot. Again, I will just move the video stop and move it here. And we will let it go. Okay. The second bit is in this place, so I'll move it here. Okay. Great. We'll take another shot that will be... that will be... there could be something with a rainbow, I would put

I know, I made a shot somewhere that I scattered them. But I don't know which one it was. This was very difficult to shoot. We shot about 8 times while we were hitting. Yes, good. So we want to put it like this. In point, out point. We'll put it here. Good. Now the sketch.

OK, so far we have it. We still have the beat. I'm zooming in here. Option ball. I zoom in and I can cut it nicely like this. So that we were right at the end of the beat. And then we have another beat here. To the third. I'll let it go. Well, I think that

It doesn't look that good, it would be better to slow it down in real time. So we click again with the right button, change clip speed and try the 25, what it does. Change. Now I thought I wouldn't put this shot here. I think it's too good to get rid of it so quickly and then try to use it later.

I will use it somewhere else so we can use it all because I think it's too good I would put it here so I will work with it later we will see if I use it or not it's about cutting you can't just go and try it out you try which shot works where more or less you still lose what you already have

It's a bit more complicated. So let's try to replace the "Rajčinky" with something else. Maybe I could add the "Rozrezanie žemle" . We have a knife there, so we can add another shot of "Rozrezanie žemle" . Because it actually links together nicely. OK, so let's go with "I" and "O" . We'll pull it here. We'll let it go. Once again. OK, I'll shorten it to "Na".

Now I want to use a different part of the shot in this place. I'm on the shot and I press the T or trim edit mode icon. In this mode, if I run to the shot, we have a lock and two arrows opposite each other.

I press the left mouse button and I can move the shot nicely. The upper two images are in the top right corner. The top right corner is the beginning of the shot and the top left corner is the end of the shot. I want the beginning of the shot to be the beginning of the cut and the end of the shot to be the end of the cut.

Great, but I would slow it down a bit more. That would be... Now we will switch from T to A so we are back in normal mode. Right click and we will change Clip Speed to 25. Change. Good, that was too slow, so... Command + Z and we will change Clip Speed to 50. 50, change. OK.

It's not perfect yet, because I need to have the cut-out. So let's try again. T, trim, edit. And let's try it there. End of shot. Like this. OK, that's it. That's it. Great. OK, it can be. I'm satisfied. And now we could put something green, some salad. Some salad. I have a shot of falling.

I don't have it very well shot, this salad, which I will use. It's just worse and worse. This will probably be the best. We'll see. OK, so we have a salad, we put it nicely here, in the beat, we let it go. Of course, we slow down too, because it falls there very quickly. But here I would slow it down, in my opinion, only 50%. Change.

So great. Good. And now we put one more in there. We have jam here, we have a salad and we'll put something else in there. We'll put something with butter, some bacon or something. We'll put butter on the bread. Let's see how it works for you. Come on now. OK. In out. That's a long one.

I don't have to slow down because the movement was quite short. I don't know if the edges are in the right place, but we can let it go from the beginning. OK, I like it. It looks good so far.
