Hello everyone, I'm Terry. Welcome back to my channel. Today I'm going to share with you my first company, which is a company that I invested in. Actually, it can't be the first one, because I used to work in a startup company. I work in these startups, which means I use my time to exchange shares. For me, the meaning of work is more like investing in a company's vision, products and teams. In the US, when your salary reaches a certain number, you earn $1 more, which is almost $0.05 for the government.
For example, in California, if your annual bonus is $100,000, you may only have $50,000 or $60,000 left. Of course, everyone's financial situation is different, and the working environment is different. Not everyone can afford to work in a new company. It's really hard to give up a big company and open a company with a salary of $400,000 or $500,000. Now I want to share with you the way I invested in this company. It's actually quite special. Generally speaking, just like what I said earlier,
An investor can write a check for them or work directly there. Or you can be an advisor, which is also an investment. But because I have this YouTube channel, in general, the way YouTube channels make money is to take business classes or sell around. But many new companies don't have so much cash to work with YouTubers to advertise. Especially the new project, maybe they haven't even got the money from the investors yet. Just survival is a problem.
Let alone the extra money to pay for the business So a few months ago, a company's founder wrote me an email asking if I could help them with their products After a few emails, we decided that instead of letting them pay me for the business I can be an angel investor and help them promote their products on my channel to obtain the same value investment In fact, this exchange of equal prices is the same as me writing a check for this company
Because it's like I go to a business and make cash and then put this cash back into this company. In fact, I don't know if I will make money or not. Because investing in a company in the early days is really like gambling. But I know I will do this sooner or later. It's just a matter of time.
I originally thought that after I make enough money, I would save so much money, and then I would not have to worry about spending my life anymore. The extra money is "fuck it money". I can use it to invest in new products, or some coins. Even if I lose all of it, I would not feel sad at all. Then I thought, since I will be doing this sooner or later, why not take this opportunity to get in touch with it? I will do some homework first, and have a preliminary understanding of what I may need to learn in the future. After that, when I really start doing this, I can make fewer mistakes.
And my current cost of trial and error will be much lower than the latter. And for me, it's a milestone. I've always wanted to help the new startup company that just started with my own experience, support, and wealth. Although I'm actually doing this myself, I've always invested my time on companies that at least have a capital of the seed wheel. The company I invested in this time is called Flood AI. The company has no external investors yet.
which means I'm the investor who joined the company before the end of the year which is considered the most risky But if the company is doing well in the future whether it's acquired or continued financing the relative return rate will be the highest Then you may be curious about how the companies that have no funding are operating specifically There are many new companies in the stock market such as Y Combinator which is a very famous company here They have invested in a lot of famous companies that have already been listed such as Airbnb, Coinbase, Dropbox
The contract they signed with the founders was called SAFE. SAFE is a abbreviation for Simple Agreement for Future Equity. The most important purpose of signing this contract is to facilitate financing and avoid early and complex financial transactions.
Before a project or startup can start making money or have a certain number of users, it's hard to give it a reasonable valuation. The SAFE I signed today allows me to enter as an investor and convert this investment into equity when the company promises to finance the next round. The advantage of doing this is that you can avoid some complicated contracts in the early stage, but the risk is relatively high. It's the same for me and the founders. Because before the company successfully finances the next round, I won't have any shares.
If the company's valuation is lower than the previous round, the founder's shares will be diluted. Besides SAFE, another common contract that early investors signed is called Convertible Note. It's a convertible note, but because it involves interest and expiration date, it's not as easy as SAFE. I signed with Flock AI founder SAFE.
You might be wondering why I decided to invest in this company. First of all, I am a heavy user of ChatGPT. I ask ChatGPT questions about big and small problems in my work. It used to be mainly Google. Now, most of the time, I spend more than half of my time on ChatGPT. Not only writing code, but also writing tests are very useful. For example, replying to important emails or writing articles.
I will write a little bit first and then let ChatGPT optimize it for me. Change the spelling, grammar, etc. The way I've been doing it is to copy the file to the OpenAI web app. Then I have to write prompt every time. Then think about how to give ChatGPT more context. If you use it often, you should know that the more context you give, the richer the prompt. The more AI can do the job better.
Although I can save a lot of time with ChatGPT so far I can't go back to the era when all the codes had to be written by myself But because every time I write prompts, I have to write manually And the OpenAI web app is really hard to use and often hang up So the product of Flood AI is to turn ChatGPT into a personal assistant They made a computer application that can run on Windows and Mac You can imagine it as the clipit in the old computer using Word But it's a clipit with growth technology
The main users of Flog AI are people who use computers to work, which is me. I spend more than 12 hours in front of the computer every day. For example, if I'm reading the code written by my colleagues, we're usually too lazy to read it one by one, especially the really ugly ones. I'll copy it and paste it on ChatGPT to help me summarize. But when you have Flog, you can directly select all the codes. At this time, ClipIt will pop up, and you can choose Code. It will directly help you summarize. If you want it to write a unit test for you, you can directly talk to ClipIt.
You don't need to open the OpenAI website and copy and paste it over and over again. And when you get used to it, you'll find that it saves you a lot of time. The point is that they've already written the prompts for you, so you won't get a bunch of useless crap. Oh, of course, if you want to change to Chinese, you can also open the settings and choose the version you want in the language. You can choose the language of the application.
You can also choose the default language for chat GPT reply Or you can also set it to automatic They will automatically choose the output language based on the text And it's much more convenient to reply to emails and messages using Fog AI There are usually two ways One is to directly help you quickly generate a reply email For example, I just need to select the content of the email Then Fog AI will automatically jump out Then I can choose to reply quickly Here you can choose the purpose of your reply They will suggest some reply targets based on the content of the email Of course, you can also directly tell AI what you want to do
Of course, you can use Prompt to adjust these on ChatGPT. But Flow.ai can help you save time by using Prompt. The second way is if you have already written an email, but you think your English or some words can be used better. Or if you want to know how people in English and mother tongue respond to emails, you can also highlight the part you have written directly and choose to correct the spelling and grammar.
These are all the functions I use quite often when I work. Replying to Slack or messages is the same. If your English is not very good, or you need to communicate with foreign colleagues, you can use Flock AI to help you fix it. And Flock AI has a wide range of applications. As long as you can choose words on the computer, whether it's Google Docs, Notion, or reading some news articles, after choosing, their clip-its will jump out to help you. You can let it simplify your language, change the tone, summarize, or translate into other languages.
If you're interested, you can try out many features. Flock AI is also free. And when you need to ask AI questions directly, you can also use the shortcut option + space to open the dialogue window. You don't need to open a new website at all. Their application interface also has a lot of pre-set prompts for you to play with. You can choose any theme or something you want to learn directly from it. For example, if you want to learn English, you can find an English teacher's prompt.
Or you can learn how to write a program You can also find a PROM with a project background to answer your question Okay, so much said Because I am now one of the investors of Flood AI So I discussed with their team If you register with my link now The paid version will have an 8% discount Only for my channel audience If you just want to try it Flood AI is completely free There are 100 credits per month The disadvantage is that there is no GPT-4 Professional version only costs 10 dollars per month Then if you want to have 6000 credits
you can upgrade to the professional advanced version. It's only $15 per month. I pay $20 for the subscription fee for OpenAI every month. So I think $15 per month is very cost-effective. Of course, if you want to use it indefinitely, you can also choose the highest version, $40 per month. But if you use my link to register, it's only $32. All functions are unlimited. My opinion of this company is that although it is now just an AI assistant, if it can be developed into a useful AI agent in the future, then my investment is worth it.
I will also work closely with their team So if you have any feedback or wishes you can leave a comment below Or you can also write a suggestion or ask questions to their team directly in the official Discord group I will also do more about my own investment company's sharing and progress reports If you like this video, remember to give me a thumbs up Because you know that a thumbs up will only take you 0.69 seconds And I will make this video to invest in a company See you next time
