successfully deployed
a total of 635 crew. Yeah, a lot of
crew. 635 crew and I'm not finished yet.
And
171 are very proud is come from Monarch

So nearly 27% of our candidate from
Peter Ocean Bali who deployed to biking
ocean between 2021 in 2025
are prom monarch Bali alumni. So you

Thank you sir Adisanto for your
inspiring remarks. And the next is great
with my pleasure to invite Miss Claudia
Pira represent Viking Chris and to
deliver her welcoming remmers.
Well, good morning everyone. There's a
lot of people here today.
I'm very glad to be here. So, thank you
very much for the warm welcome. Uh, it's
always a pleasure to be back in Bali. I
think I did a career talk but in Monarch
school last year. So, it's always a
pleasure. Thank you very much. Um, Let
me introduce myself first so you get to
know me a little bit better as well,
right? This lady will speak to you for
an hour. Uh my name is Claudia. I'm
originally from Portugal.
Uh before
maybe you're fans of Cristiano Ronaldo.
I understand.
Um before joining Viking as a recruiter,
I was also working on cruise ships. So I
worked for about seven years in a
different cruise line. Uh I was working
mostly in guest services. Um so I
started as a receptionist. So the first
position in guest services and then work
my way up to be you know reception
manager. I was also night manager. I was
events manager. So a lot of different
roles. I wanted to learn a lot of
different things. So um I did enjoy my
time on board those seven years I
worked. However, three years ago, I
wanted to take a new career path. I
wanted to try different
yeah, different way. Uh, and um, yeah, I
joined Viking as a recruiter, been able
to travel the world to meet people just
like yourselves, young, eager to maybe
start a career at sea. Um, and yeah,
just explain them about Viking, sharing
with them also my experience has been a
pleasure. So, I'm very happy to you
about Viking and what our company is and
our benefits and the possibilities you
can have right when joining us. So let's
start with a little introduction of our
company.
Ah okay.
So let's just start with an introduction
of the company. So it was founded in
1997 by our chairman Mr. Torstston
Hagen. So um he's actually
from Norway. So of course Viking, right?
That's where it comes from. Our company
uh yes Sherman is from Norway. Our ships
are flagged from Norway. Um but actually
our company started in 1997 with river
ships in Russia and then from then on it
expanded to Europe. Um and then in 2015
we started our ocean division and then
our expedition division. So we've been
expanding all through the years and now
we have of course three different
divisions and we even have a rivership
sailing in the Mississippi River in US.
Now Mr. Hag wanted to create a unique
brand, something that was not yet
available, something new, different,
um something that was focused, let's
say, on thinking person. So, and not the
drinking person as he often says. So,
that's what our brand stands for. So,
it's destination focused. Um, it's
focused on cultural experiences,
uh, enrichment, creating different
opport showing different cultures and
destinations to our guests. So what
that's what the brand was. So we don't
you will not find any casinos or you
know clubs all night long. All our
guests are also more than 18 years old.
So it's a little bit different uh than
other uh other brands. So that's what he
wanted to create and that's what it
started as a career cruise and then it
expanded through the years to ocean and
expedition as well. Last year in 2025 in
October we actually launched our 100
vessel in all our divisions of course.
So now we have more than 100 ships
sailing through the world on river and
ocean. Um so yes a lot of ships perhaps
in future we will reach 200 who knows
right that's the goal to keep growing we
have ships being launched every year so
we are quite fast growing company
um with that comes also a lot of people
working with us right so we have more
than 12,000 people all over the globe
working with Viking not just on our
ships but also in our offices
um I come from Basel. So that's where
our Basil, Switzerland, that's where our
operational office is. Um, but not just
in Basil, we also have offices in Los
Angeles, California, we have in London,
Australia.
Um, the reason why we have our sales
offices in these areas, it's because
this is most mostly where our guests
come from. So, English-speaking
countries mostly, uh, US, I guess it's
the majority, I would say, and then
Canada.
England, UK in general, let's say,
Australia, New Zealand. So, yes, that's
where our guests are are from. As I
mentioned, we have different divisions,
different types of ships. Um, we will
focus a little bit more today, of
course, in our ocean and expedition
division. Um, but of course, we also
have our river Mississippi divisions
um that are quite expanded. So of course
our river ships they sail through
different rivers in Europe also in Egypt
um and uh Vietnam, Cambodia, uh
Mississippi. So a lot of a lot of
different sizes, a lot of different
shapes, but yes, a lot of different
ships as well. River and Mississippi. We
have our also in an exposition uh
division, so less than 1,000 capacity.
So um smaller ships let's say uh with a
premium vibe. We have 12 vessels well 13
now I would say 15 with our expedition
division as we have two as well
but uh I will show you a little bit
later on how they look like inside.
Okay. So you can have a better
understanding of what to expect from our
ships. Now a little bit more about our
guests as I mentioned right um our brand
is focused on the thinking person. So
our guests you know are very cultural
inclined let's say perhaps uh retire
more than 60 years old now they want to
explore the world in comfort
uh travel get unique experiences
um enjoy the comfort of our ships while
they explore the world. So that's their
focus. Um yeah, mostly wellraveled,
educated. So that's our guests. So these
are the guests you will find on board
our ships.
Now let's say we call it what sets
Viking apart, right? We call it the
Viking way. As I said, we focus
on a few differences compared to other
cruise lines. As I mentioned, we don't
have um any casinos. We don't have
inside stateaterooms for example. So all
our state all our stateaterooms have
verandas balconies. So the guests can
you know enjoy comfortably you know as
we sail through different places and you
know watch the ocean and the views. So
it gives them a lot more comfort. Um we
don't have any children so all our
guests are more than 18 years old. Um we
don't uh have we charge also for Wi-Fi
of course for the guests and the crew as
already mentioned. Um we don't have any
sales like art or photography. So
there's quite a few differences right
compared to other cruise lines. So
that's how we stand out uh from other
brands.
Now continuing um regarding our ships.
So as I said we have 13 ships. Uh they
all look pretty pretty much the same I
would say. So if you see one you will
know exactly how the other ship looks
like. Um and all have less than 1,000
guests. Um all with verand as I
mentioned for around 500 crew um 11
decks. So that's a little picture of our
ship. Um and yes so they all look the
same. What happens is the last three
ships that were launched um They are
still similar to the rest. However,
they're a little bit wider, so they
still accommodate a few more guests, but
it's still less than 1,000. Okay.
Capacity.
But let's see how it looks like.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Quite impressive, right?
Beautiful ships. Um, yes. So, these are
our ocean ships. Um, as I mentioned, we
will focus also on our expedition
vessels. Um, we have two also sister
ships. So, Octantes and Polaris also
look pretty much the same. Of course, in
terms of FnB venues and so on, it's
still similar to Ocean. Um, however, of
course, the layout of the ship will be
different because of the remote places
where it goes. Um, and it's also a
little bit smaller, so it can
accommodate 378 guests for 252 crew. Um,
we also have seven decks, so a little
bit smaller. Um, a little bit different
to break through the ice. Also, uh all
with veranda, we call it Nordic balcony.
Um so it's not really veranda, it's a
balcony. So it's like a window that
opens up. So it still gets, you know,
fresh air. Uh the guests can still enjoy
their views. So yes, so the same
ambiance and so on you will find on the
ocean ships. However, a little bit more
adventurous, let's say. So you will find
a few other things in the expedition
ships you will not find on the ocean. Uh
let's start for example with submarines.
Both ships have two submarines each. Uh
there's also an anger with special
operation boats, kayaks. Um we also have
science labs. So there's actually
science being done on the ships. Um so
yeah, a lot of different things. The
guests actually get to participate in
all these activities. even to see also
what's being done in terms of research
and so on. So yeah, it's it gives them a
lot of different um yeah opportunities
as well to enjoy our ships in a
different way. Um so yeah, let's also
see how it looks like.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
So these are our expedition ships.
Okay. So um just a little briefing just
to let you know of course what we offer
in our FnB venues. We of course have
different restaurants. Um the guests
don't pay extra for it. So this all the
food and also beverages with their meal
like uh sorry lunch and dinner. This is
all included already with the guests pay
for their cruise.
But of course we do have different
offerings. So we have our main
restaurant uh where guests can enjoy
their meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We also have uh Man Freddy's which is
like um fine dining, let's say,
specialty Italian restaurant, very
popular on the ship as well. Uh we have
the chef's table, which is like a
tasting menu restaurant. Um where you
have different menus every three days.
Uh but this is all set, right? It's
already an experience created for the
guests with their food and their wine.
So it's pairing, right? So it it gives
them unique experiences. And as I said,
it changes every three days. They have
different types. You have British,
Mexican, different Asian. So yes, a lot
of different experiences for them. And
then of course we have Mson's which is
Norwegian focus. So it's like um yeah
different snacks. It's this it's fixed
menu, all Norwegian food. Um, yeah, it
gives um it's yeah, a tribute I would
say to Mr. Haggin's family. So, it's all
what he used to enjoy eating when he was
younger. Um, and it's fixed so it never
changes and it's mostly open through the
day as well. We have our world cafe
which is a buffet restaurant as well. We
have pool grill. So, there's a few
different offerings for the guests.
Let's say we have a few as well like
coffee shop, the living room or aqua
feet where guests can enjoy as well some
drinks um and relax inside right in the
comfort of our ship.
Um of course we have some entertainment
venues. Um our entertainment it's a
little bit different uh focus more on
classical let's say we have a classic
duo. Uh we have pianists. We have of
course um our
on the ship, right? Viking vocalists. We
have um the house band. Um but yeah,
it's there's no really like coveret
shows as you would find uh perhaps in
different cruise lines. It's a little
bit more intimate, but we do have our
own shows designed just for Viking. Um
and they're performed by our artists,
let's say, on on on board. Um and we
have a lot of lectures right about
different topics. Um that's what's the
interest of our guests. So depending
also where we are in the world there
will be different lectures and different
topics as well being discussed. So yeah
that's more of our entertainment venues.
Um the shows of course and so on are all
majorly performed in the theater but you
would also find them like in the atrium
area, living room and so on.
Good. Now, one of the benefits I think
of working on cruise ships, it's to
travel, right? You get to see the world.
And in Viking, we do cover all
continents, right? Especially if you
think of our ocean and exposition
divisions. We go a little bit
everywhere,
all continents. So, if we start with the
Americas, uh, we go all the way, you
know, from Alaska or Arctic Canada, very
remote, all the way down to Argentina,
Chile, as you can see our crew members
enjoying the world, posting online. I
guess here it's more Tik Tok, maybe, not
so much Instagram, right? So, you can do
some dances around the world and show
off to your friends. Um but yes so these
are some of the places uh you can visit
with us
also of course polar expeditions
uh in Antarctica Arctic
um you can also visit yeah these remote
very remote places where you can find
you know a lot of ice a lot of penguins
um different places
yeah and what else Europe of
Mediterranean,
Portugal as well. Uh, Mada, if you're a
Cristiano Ronaldo fan, that's where he's
from, right? So, there's a statue there
you can visit.
Um, and of course, Italy. Um, yeah, all
these different places. Of course,
Norway, where our brand where our
company is from, the Viking homelands.
It's a very popular cruise. Um, even you
can also see the northern lights.
Imagine or the midnight sun where it's
just the sun never sets or you know if
you go there in the winter the sun never
rises. So yeah it's it's quite
interesting to see and of course Africa
as well. We are expanding more our
destinations in Africa. So now with our
world cruise we also go to Kenya,
Madagascar,
South Africa.
So we are always continuously adding new
places, new destinations to our um
cruises.
Um of course Asia, Bali as well. Maybe
you've seen our ships in the docks.
Uh so we do come here as well often. So
if you are sailing in our ships, perhaps
you can even visit your family and not
just in Bali also Jakarta and then of
course other parts of the countries in
Asia like Japan, China
um and also Australia, New Zealand. So
yeah, a little bit everywhere. The
shortest cruises we have in our ocean
ships, it's seven, sorry, eight days. Um
so we don't have any shorter cruises
than that.
And then of course we have seven days,
10 days, 12 days, uh 20 days, four
months if you're doing a world cruise.
Um so yes, it's um world cruise can be
quite interesting, right? You can see
the whole cruise, the whole world just
in one contract. So it's it's a great
opportunity, but at the same time, of
course, you're um with the same guests
for the whole of those four months. So
you need to continuously showing them
great service all the time. Now, let's
see another video. I want to show you
another video of what it means to become
a Viking. Right.
To all introverts and extroverts, team
players and hard workers, to people
looking for something real, meet Viking.
We want to ask you, what is it that you
want in life?
>> At Viking, we're people like Steve,
Paulina, and Rodrigo. You know, people
like you who want a career that takes
them places. Whether it's seeing the
Great Barrier Reef, setting foot on
Antarctica, or being in the center of
Paris, Amsterdam, or New Orleans.
>> Create unforgettable memories, meet new
colleagues from all over the world, and
make true friends along the way. Because
when you are with us, you always have a
Viking by your side. Because when you
are with us, you're with family.
>> As the world's leading river and ocean
cruise line with state-of-the-art ships
cruising over 100 itinerarists around
the globe, we offer you the chance to
show the world your very best.
>> With us, every day is different, but
it's true. It's not a walk in the park.
It's a job on a sheep with super
attractive benefits, professional
training, and great career
opportunities. A job for travelers and
all those who support their loved ones
at home.
>> We are as diverse as the world itself,
constantly innovating and growing. And
we want you to grow with us. So ask
yourself, what is it that you want in
life?
Perhaps
this will be your goal, right? To become
a Viking and then uh maybe we will see
each other in a few years once you're 21
years old. You all look very young, so
maybe then we'll be able to to uh see
each other. Um yeah, so Viking, um we
have a lot of awards under our name. Um
we've been awarded the best uh small
leading cruise line for the last couple
of years in all our divisions. Something
we are very proud of. These awards are
actually given to us by our guests. So
they're the ones you know voting. So it
means that they're happy with our brand,
with our company, with our ships, with
our crew. Um so it means of course if
the guests are happy, the crew is happy.
So um yeah it's it's a reflect of the
great work they do on the ship.
Yeah we have um so we always say at
least we try always to show as well to
the people we speak all over the world
that when joining Viking we want to
offer career opportunities.
So it's not just a job right. So if you
start you know in an entry level
position as a utility uh we want you to
grow into becoming you know some another
position, a higher position to give you
the opportunity to excel at the things
that you like and you do. Um, we do give
the training and offer those
opportunities. Of course, it's all up to
each person, right? How they perform
their jobs, how committed they are. Um,
but the opportunities are there. So, we
do offer a career growth, career
opportunities to all our crew.
And we have a very high retention rate.
We've been having it over the years more
than 80%. So it means that you know our
crew enjoys staying with us and they
keep coming back. Um so it means yes
they're enjoying their time and the
company
and the time they spend on Viking rides.
Now um working with us what does that
mean? Well working aboard it's of course
there's benefits but it's not easy. It's
hard work.
um you work, you know, more than 10
hours a day every day while you're on
the ship. So, it's not easy and you're
far away from your family, right? So,
you'll be far away from Bali from six
months. So, it's not easy. Of course,
you really need to want to do it and be
really eager to do it. Um but yes, so we
do offer also work life balance. So,
what does this mean, right? We talk
about it more and more nowadays. So all
our contracts actually are no longer
than six months. Um so uh we offer
maximum six months contracts with two
months off. So we give a continuous
rotation always. So before our crew
leaves the ship, they will know when our
when their contract is next. So they
know when they're coming back, which
ship they're going and so on. It also
gives a little bit more security, right?
so they know um when they will return
and when they will be working again. Um
yeah, free Wi-Fi as it was mentioned. Uh
and uh we do spend a lot of time in
port, let's say. Um a lot of our cruises
don't even have any sea days, meaning uh
they're not sailing.
So we are always stopping as well in
different in different ports. Um so
yeah, we It gives the opportunity to the
crew as well to to see the different
places for the guests to explore. Um, so
so yeah, that's one of the benefits plus
also overnights. So most of our cruises
also have overnights. What does this
mean is we stay more than just one day
in the same place. So if you're working
all through the day and you cannot go
ashore, perhaps you can go in the
evening, right, to explore
uh the the different cities you are in.
And vice versa, if you're working at
night, you can go through the day. So,
it's always there's always a chance. Um,
right. And fair salary. So, we are very
transparent with our salaries. Um, so
actually, um, when you apply with us,
uh, if we move forward with your
application before you get to the
interview stage, uh, you so during the,
you know, document collection and so on,
you will already know what salary you
will receive. So we will tell you in
advance. Um, everyone in the same
position gets the same salary. So it's
not different for people from different
nationalities or ages or whatsoever. So
everyone gets the same. Of course
there's differences regarding seniority.
So if you're with our company for more
than 249 days, of course you will get an
extra right for your loyalty to our
company um and for the hard work that
you do. But um Initially everyone gets
the same salary. Of course we also have
a referral program. Uh how it works is
if you have you know colleagues, friends
uh that are work that are a match for
Viking it can work for us. You can you
know our crew members they can refer
them to our HR managers on board as the
recruiters will assess and then if they
are successful the crew members get the
reward uh for that for you know
referring someone who was a great match.
So we also um we also reward those as
well. Now you see this lovely lady such
with such a big smile. Um she's working
with us um as a pastry cook um and she
will just want to tell you about her
day. She's from Nepal
um and she will tell you what she does
through the day. So let's have a look.
>> Good morning. My name is Masa. I'm from
Nepal. I'm a pastry cook. I'm going to
take you today through my day starting
with a cup of coffee in the crew maze.
My favorite thing is to finish the
pastry which I look after the world cafe
launch and dinner and also I look for
the tea time scone birthday cake for the
guest. It's my first time working on the
cruise line. So many things is new here.
You learn everything. So it's a good
money you can save. You can make your
future. You are working hard and you are
traveling the whole world. You see the
ocean, the beaches, you feel joy.
You are getting salary and you are
getting to be here also. I'm really
happy.
Okay, I'm going to finish my day here at
the gym. Working whole day at the galley
and giving some time for myself and my
body here at the gym. Thank you for
joining me. Have a good night.
Good.
She's still working with us and she's
very happy as you can see. So, this is
just an example of what a day can look
like while you're on the ship.
Right. So, let's talk about our
different positions, different
opportunities on board. Um, of course,
similar to a restaurant, to a hotel in a
way, right? You have different
apartments like restaurant, bar, um, of
course more administrative part as well.
Um so of course we have our entry level
roles like cafe attendant in the
restaurant department. We have resort
tech attendant in bars,
storekeeper. Uh of course we have shore
excursions which is related to tours and
we also have of course guest services
and more administrative like crew purser
which is more focused on you know
salaries and help the crew with
different administrative tasks. Of
course, we also have IT um people, crew
members on the ship. Of course, more and
more nowadays we need um so yeah, these
are some of the opportunities, right?
So, if you start as a resort tech
attendant in the bar, perhaps in a few
years you can become, you know, a bar
waiter, bartender,
um familiar even. So, there's a lot of
opportunities uh for growth. U galley,
our biggest department with a lot of
different positions. Um,
of course we have, you know, um, bakers,
pastries, butchers, and of course the
sanitation team. Um, so there's also
different parts to the galley as well.
And then the housekeeping team. So of
course we have the hotel custodial,
public area attendance, I would say. Um,
and then of course also the laundry
team. So you would always start I don't
know you cannot see but it's like a
laundry stuff and perhaps in future be a
laundry master as well right so those
are some of the opportunities we have um
so that you can find as well
right so continuing to talk about our
crew what makes our crew members amazing
as we say of course um there's
expectations like anything else. Um, and
as a brand, we are very much focused on
providing personalized service to our
guests. So, that's what's important for
us. Um, so in terms of of course
communication skills, it's very
important to be able to speak English,
understand, communicate. Uh, it's one of
the most important skills.
um doesn't matter if you're you know a
gal utility that you think you will hide
in the kitchen and not needing to speak
English or hotel custodial uh but
everyone on our ships do need to speak
English clearly uh and it's just a
matter of being able to perform their
job and also safety right by safety
reasons as well so yes English it's a
very important skill if you're you're
very young so you have time to learn
Um, it's always good to practice. I say
to all the time when I speak to young
people like yourselves, uh, especially,
you know, when you see yourself in an
international setting because it's very
different, right? And not all the time
people are comfortable to do it. So,
it's try to expose yourself to, you
know, speaking to different guests at
your hotels where you work or
restaurants. It will give you confidence
in future. I would say to then be able
to take the step to go into the ship and
to be confident, right, to speak English
and interact with different people from
all over the world because on our ships,
of course, our guests, as I said, they
come from English-speaking countries.
Uh, but all our crew, we have more than
90 different nationalities on our ships.
So, all over the company, I would say.
So, we are very diverse company. So, you
will find a lot of different people and
on the ship continuing of course as I
said so we are a brand focused on
personalized service so our guests um
and their enjoyment of our cruise it's
important like any hospitality setting
right it's all about the guests and
welcome them to our hotel or our ship um
so that's very important for us uh be
flexible working on ships uh things
change all the time there's a lot lot of
stressful situations that can happen.
You know, sometimes you might think you
will go to a port and then you might
not. So, you know, be ready to face
stressful moments, especially when you
have almost 1,000 guests arriving at the
same time in one day can be challenging,
I would say. But, um, yeah, I'm sure
with practice you will be able to do it
for sure. So, that's what we are looking
for, people who can, you know, resist
stress and hardworking,
being a team player, you know, time
management, those are all important
skills to have in any job. Of course,
time management, especially, you know,
when you're working with other people in
shifts. Um, if you're always arriving
five, 10 minutes late, it means your
colleagues will have to stay longer for
you. That's not nice, right? So, you
would don't you didn't you would not
like if that happened to you. So, It's
very important to be on time, be ready
to work, start your shift,
and of course, being honest,
independent. Those are all very
important skills as well.
Now, how it looks like inside the ship,
as you can see, these are our cabins.
Uh, for the crew, of course, you would
share the cabin with someone else. Um,
so it's two people per cabin, one shared
bathroom. So, two people, one bathroom.
Um, it's important to always keep it
well maintained. Um, they're fairly new,
right? So, um, it's, uh, yeah, this is a
little bit how it look like. Um, sharing
cabin and sharing a living space, it's
always a little bit tricky, right? You
need to create rules to who is cleaning
what. But it's always important to to
keep it tidy for sure. We also have a
crew mess. So it's a restaurant for the
staff where you can enjoy meals like
breakfast, lunch, dinner, late snacks.
So there's always something, coffee,
tea, uh for the crew, so you're never
hungry while you're on the ship. There's
always food.
Uh right. And continuing a little bit
more of life on board. Um, as I
mentioned, you would have to work
perhaps 10 12 hours a day. So, it's not
easy. A lot of hard work every day. Um,
and of course, seven days of the week.
So, those six months that you are there,
you have to work every day. So, it's
never stopping. Um, of course it gives
you the opportunity to be exposed to
international, right, to international
company, to international people, uh,
international ways. Um, so you will meet
a lot of different people. You will
learn a lot of different skills that you
will take with you for your career, not
just professionally, but personally as
well.
Um, yeah, and of course, you will visit
a lot of different places.
uh you will get to meet a lot of new
people. So that's definitely
uh some benefits of what you can find
working on board. But of course it's
always important to remember that it's
not easy right to be away from your home
for such a long period of time. Uh also
depending on the roles you may also need
to work day or night shifts. Um so you
need to be flexible in that right. So
sometimes you would work perhaps two
months in a day shift and then you would
move two day two months to the night
shift. Um but yeah it will be on
rotation.
Now our benefits
um of course we offer monthly salary um
as as I mentioned of course um this will
be um paid into a card so a bank card
that will be given to you as you go into
the ship. Um so in this card yes this is
where you will get every month your
salaries. Um and then there's no tax
deduction let's say. So we have Bermudan
contracts. Um so what's the salary
offered? Whatever the I know the amount
is this is what you will get. Uh any tax
deductions then that would have to be uh
separate for sure. Holiday saving plan.
What does this mean? Holiday saving
plan. So um it's a five days we take
from the crew member salary we keep it
on the side and then we give it at the
end of their contracts. So it means we
are saving for our crew because often we
see you know especially when it's the
first contract people get excited to get
more money and they want to buy all the
souvenirs of all the different places
where they go and then when they finish
their contract perhaps you know they
don't have as much as they wished for
those two months and to bring back for
their family. So this way at least you
have some money saved. We help you with
that and it's all reimbursed to you um
once you leave the ship. So with your
final contract
free Wi-Fi again uh as I mentioned of
course you know the Wi-Fi can be free
but perhaps not all the time you will be
able to download you know all the
Netflix movies and so on. It's still a
sailing vessel. Remember that. So
depending sometimes of the weather, it
can be a little bit challenging, but
it's great to be able to to use the
Wi-Fi to speak to your family, video
calling, just calling. Uh I can
personally say I was working in a
different company and I used to spend
sometimes $200 in Wi-Fi. So this is a
great benefit because for sure it's a
lot of money you take away from your
salary just to use uh the Wi-Fi.
reimburseable expenses. As Mr. Hari
already said, uh we do reimburse uh the
medical certificate and any visas that
you may need to work. Um of course, you
would pay this up front, but then we
would reimburse you as you go into the
ship with your salary. Okay? So, with
your first salary, we would give you
this money back as well. Uniform,
we don't charge any of our crew for
uniform. So as you walk into the ship,
this is all given to you. The uniform of
course um and then once you complete
your contract, you just return it and
then so on. So every time you join the
ship, that's what happens. Of course, we
also have health insurance.
Um so while you're on the ship, you're
fully covered. Uh we even have a clinic
also with doctor and nurses on the ship
with crew hours if ever you need. they
are not able to help, they can refer to
local hospitals um and help you through
it. And of course, this is all covered
by Viking as well. Um
life insurance, well, we always hope
never have to give this to any of course
our crew family, but that's what would
be given in case something happens to
one of our crew members on the ship. Um
yeah, travel. So we cover the flights um
we cover any hotels that you may need.
Uh this will be all booked by us before
you join the ship and after. So from
your home airport to the ship and vice
versa. This is all covered by us and it
will be provided uh before you go to the
ship as well. We have some recreational
areas on the ship. So you know we have
an area with a pool just for the crew.
We have some uh game areas where you can
play and meet, I guess, your friends and
just relax after work. We also have a
crew bar. Uh we also um provide access
to all our crew to the guest gym. So,
usually after 8:00 p.m. the crew members
can go and use the guest facilities
um the guest gym facilities. I mean, um
we also provide our HR team on board
also create some activities uh like
bingo karaoke to our crew. It can be a
good opportunity also sometimes to meet
people from other departments that you
don't see that often. Um so yeah that's
all done by the HR team as well.
Laundry. So we do have crewettes
uh where you can do your washing. Uh you
don't even need to take soap. This is
all there for you. You just need to
bring the clothes and do it and it's
ready. Now, just like any uh company, we
have policies. So, we're no different.
A very important policy to start with is
our tattoo policy. Um so, we um don't
allow any visible tattoos. So, they need
to be covered by the uniform. Um now, of
course, this will be assessed
individually, but no tattoo can be um
can be visible. So, and uh we don't
allow like band-aids or makeup or fake
sleeves that will not really work to
cover. It has definitely to be with the
uniform
grooming standards. So, there's some uh
expectations, right? How we present
ourselves, it's very important.
So, always, you know, perfectly groomed
with the uniform always ready of course
and clean. Um no uh facial hair as well
is allowed. So you always have to shave
makeup just very natural look and the
hair if the ladies have the hair long it
has to be tied in a low bun. So just a
natural look that's the expectations. Um
taxes as I said we have Bermudan
contracts so there's no taxes added
um but you know if you're employed by us
then our agency then are we'll be able
to help you with all of that
um non-reimburseable expenses al so uh
as I mentioned we do cover the medicals
and the visas however if you need to
travel to obtain any of these documents
ments then this is not covered by
Viking. Same applies for the SDCW
courses.
Um alcohol and drugs policy. So um of
course there's certain rules we do. Uh
so we don't tolerate drugs at all. Um,
so we do even do random tests for
alcohols and drugs because we do need
our crew to always be, you know,
perfectly well ready to work uh for
their job, for their safety duties. It's
very important. Um, so keep this in mind
if you go to the ship. Uh, couple's
policies.
So perhaps you want to apply with your
partner or you know you will find a
partner later on on the ship. Uh you can
request our scheduling team to uh link
the profiles
uh with you and your partner but um it's
not always guaranteed straight away.
Sometimes may take some time depending
on operational requirements. So every
case is assessed individually
but it's a possibility right.
Good. So what do we need if you want to
apply?
So of course we need to see your CV
right your experience what you've done
after you leave school monarch school uh
where were you working and so on. So we
need to have all that information.
um any work letters, employment that can
support your application. That's also
very important for us to see. Um that's
things that we always ask and any
references, right? Just documents that
can uh confirm your work employment.
That's all what we will ask.
Uh yes, scam be aware, right? There's
more and more scams happening in the
world especially you know um with the
rise you know of social media and so on.
So please always go through our agency
right they are um partner agency so they
will be the most trusted way I guess to
do it um but in case if ever you get any
communication that says it's from Viking
only if we use these emails ending like
this viking.com or viking cruises.com
then you can trust other than that yes I
would not engage with it.
Um, we also have shops, spa uh on the
ship. However, this is not uh they're
not uh hired by Viking, let's say. We
work with different um companies that
hire and deploy the crew for us. If ever
can be of your interest, of a friend's
interest. Um these are uh the companies
we work with. So for nautical and
technical as well, different uh same
applies for our enter entertainment
team. Uh we do hire like technicians,
assistant cruise director and cruise
director but the singers and and
musicians this is hired by a different
company. Same applies for the spa and
the shop as well.
Okay, I guess we are reaching the end of
the talk. Uh so I will you a final video
um about our Viking family. So, some
crew members will share uh also their um
their experience, I guess. So, let's
have a look.

awesome. The best for me is Viking.

What's great about the Viking passengers

>> It's really nice. We are like one family

Well,
thank you very much for your attention
um and uh for listening uh what I had to
say about biking. Um now before we go to
any questions and so on that you may
have, I would like to call to the stage
actually uh two of our actual crew
members. So they are actually you know
proof of success within our crew. Um and
yes so they will tell you a lot more
about their experience with us. Um so
please welcome to the stage.
I don't know who wants to start so I'll
let you decide
maybe together.
All
right. Good morning everyone.
>> How are you this morning?
>> Everything is good.
>> All right. I would like to introduce my
name. All right. My name is Carudi.
I'm from the the I been in biking 2016.
But before that I work in in the
different two company. I work in Oceania
200 2006 and then I left Oceanania and
then I go to Disney cruise line 2006
until 2010 and then I start to join in
fighting 2016 until now. Why I stay in
fighting? You know why? Because the
fighting give me the best benefit and
then the good salary and then you get it
the the very important for us our crew
is Wi-Fi that is very very important for
us. You know why before in another
company I must pay that the the Wi-Fi.
All right. And then I started joining in
and then I get the free Wi-Fi. You know
how much I must be costing money a month
in another company? Around $400.
$400.
You must be spend your money for the
Wi-Fi only. But in fighting you get a
free that you every day 24 hours you get
a free Wi-Fi. You can call your family
anytime you wanted to call. That is the
best way. And then the best from the
biking for me
you get the food is very very nice in
biking.
All right. The food is very very nice.
You get a breakfast, lunch, snack,
dinner and then late night you get it.
If you walk in the night shift you will
be get the night snake.
That night snake you will be get it. All
right. In another company you will be
not get it but in biking you will be get
it.
And then I start in in fighting cruise
line. My position that time is
assistance at the party.
Very very very very it's not very very
low position. The middle position I get
that in fighting 2016 and then I get
promoted for the CDP
2017 only one contract.
I'm at the party that time the ship we
have only two ship that time we have
start and see
all right very very difficult get the
promoted people you must be smart you
must be have the knowledge you must be
know how to work in the kitchen even in
the restaurant
before it's very very difficult and now
more get easy you get the promoted you
get the more opportunity
Because every year we are building the
new new ship is coming. Almost every
year is two two ship is coming. Sometime
one ship is coming. But now the new ship
is coming. Libra
you have the big big opportunity to join
with us like a family. All right. Don't
worry you joining in the fighting. Don't
be scared joining in fighting. Don't be
scared. All will be welcome to you. will
be like a family. All the all the crew
will be glad you there.
All the crew will be glad you there. You
will be never alone walk and fighting.
Everybody will be helping you. All
right. You will be have to pick you have
the paper there for the sign on. So the
body put the body there he will be get
you where the world where the men where
the man where the pra
will get you he will tell you everything
about the fighting
right and sir what they said to Claudia
Claudia Mrs.
saying all the benefit is good and then
all your document will be paid like the
visa like the medical company will be
paid up it's very very good the ticket
also the very very important for us the
new hire
work in the cruise line the ticket you
know how much the ticket you must pay in
other company
$1,500 almost $1,500 you must be paid
You know how much money that
25 million
but in Viking you don't pay that you
only pay maybe what is it Mr. Sudi
Mr.
You only pay less than
in current dollar less than $700. You
must be paid
less than $700.
It's good for you. Good for your
opportunity.
All right? Be smart. Okay? You must be
strong.
Answer everything what you know. All
right? Don't be scared. All right? That
is my experience.
become the equation.
It's not the it's not the small position
that is high position. It's like it's
like another is like another company
that like accepted.
All right. But in fighting we don't have
the accepted. We have the save the will
be in by the restaurant. We have
we have the table men
restaurant and then cup
all the
but in table it's not CC just that the
chef just
the
Italian menu that the series in the
world the series and then main
restaurant the CDC. We have the three
CDC and one executed. And then we have
1, two, three, four. We have four.
We have the four. We have the set the
party.
Eight set the party and baby. We have
six. And then we have the cook. And then
in the bottom we have the assistant
cook. All right.
And then also if you become the
assistant cook there you have the many
many opportunity to coming to grow up
very very fast to grow up. It's like two
contract three contract will be have the
chance for the next step.
And then you have the next step was like
a cook. If you have the cook, you have
the next step for the as of the party.
If you have the chance for the next
asense of the party, you have the
training in Philippine.
We have the training in Philippine for
this assets at the party and at the
party the company will be pay for you if
you have opportunity.
All right, you have the opportunity that
you have the training that in Philippine
for the one month. So the company will
pay that for you.
Okay, good luck guys. See you in biking.
All right, thank you.
>> Thank you. Even though everybody speak
English I believe but uh allow me to
give you some conclusion in
Ocean which is
one of the top.
Thank you. Next
laundry master
please uh share your experience during
your career on board of biking centers.
Thank you.
>> Thank you Mr. Adi. Okay. All right. Uh
first of all thank you for Peteratu and
Viking to organize this event and invite
us here me and my colleagues. Uh let me
introduce myself first. My name is G
Madiarta. I am from Nagara Nara Jo.
Yeah. So
uh
I think all of experience have been
sharing with my colleague
in culinary restaurant everything
benefit from the Viking but I will try
to share experience housekeeping
department as who I'm working. Yeah. All
right.
I'm still remember when I'm interview by
Mr. Adi 2016. Yeah, I was qualified
just ly man. You can imagine
with
lman join in fight king. So now I'm
become lre master. So
>> if you do your best, love your job, love
what are you doing, stripped by the
best, continue discipline,
you will get what you want. So first
contract as laundry man, second contract
become senor and also after that I get
promotion become specialist assistant
laundry master and the last position
laundry master. Yeah. So everyone can
get that position if you want. Okay.
Like what is my colleague sir? I have
been two three contract together with
him also. Then after a long time then we
meet here
because now biking every years launching
two ship. Yeah we never meet. So if you
do your best you know how to work then
follow the company standard. Don't drink
too much. Yeah. So drink you they allow
you to drink. There is crew bar not only
about work. You can enjoy also chit chat
with your mate. Find someone there who
you love. But remember if you have
family don't try. Yeah. So so many
experience. So in another side there is
work 10 hours a day also benefit rest
time. In Viking
they give you rest more than enough.
Like what my colleague say good food
prep food put in laundry also I will let
you know in other company you have to
pay for the chemical but in Viking we
provide you I you put my budget in crew
laundry so free laundry yeah for crew
free laundry
don't worry you just have to go to crew
laundry start the machine everything
work automatically
So for salary also for me why I'm stay
10 years now salary in Viking good
better than where I work before in other
company. Yeah I come from obsore then
also liabu I also been in Dubai in
Singapore but this last my company I
decide to until retired in Viking.
So I don't want to go any other company.
I'm stay in biking. So biking is like my
family. So when I'm come to the ship,
everybody recognize me. So in Viking if
you do uh your job, follow the SOP
abs. A absolutely people will recognize
you. Just do your job. You do do your
best. Follow the rule. Your superise
supervisor or your manager will
recognize you then give you promotion.
Believe me. Okay, that's it. Uh my
experience.
>> Thank you Pakad. Uh what Pakad mentioned
I met him in 2016 I believe. Yeah. So I
interview him and then uh become laundry
man and then we deploy him. At the
moment he is now at laundry master. So
everybody can grow their career on board
of biking ocean crew. So the only thing
I would like to say to you if I say in
bahasa
yeah scammer around us. So like Miss
Claudia mentioned uh you don't pay for
your application, you don't pay for your
let's say medical checkup
visa, airline ticket, everything will be
provided by the company
Bali and Monach Bali. This is we we
already collaborate since 2009. So long
time already. uh I believe we sent we
deploy people already to ping uh since
2021
until 2025
because we have another actually another
seven month we didn't count yet so more
than 200 people already imagine from
Monach Bali only from Monach Bali more
than 200 people we counted 2021 till now
yeah again thank you very much
thank
Well, I guess it's time for questions.
I don't know if anyone wants to ask
anything. Oh, so many. Okay.
Good morning Miss Claudia. Let me
introduce myself. My name is Pria. I'm
studying at Moralum at 7 class. So I'm
sorry my English is not good. Not very
good. Sorry if I misunderstaining more.
So mia as a fingers or interviewer what
you see from a person is tell their uh
good hotel year and ready for be a part
of fighting ocean cruise that all for me
thank you so much
>> sorry would you be able to repeat your
question let me try
>> no miss claudia as a freaking recruiters
or interviewer what you see from a
person is tell they are a good hotel
and ready for be a part of family
speaking of Cruz. Thank you so much.
>> Thank you. Thank you very much. Okay.
>> Well, um, so how we identify the best
crew, right? I guess that's what your
question is. Thank you. So, well, it's
all about we believe in Viking that you
know skills you can learn, especially
when you're starting, right, in entry
level roles.
So it's based on of course everyone
needs to have experience in the job they
apply. We always look for that. So if
you're working to to be like in the
restaurant you had to have previous
experience in the restaurant but we will
focus more on your approach to work,
your attitude, how you present
yourselves, you know your interaction.
So those are all skills that we value a
lot um in our crew you know their
mindset teamwork as already um our crew
members already mentioned um it's it's
all about you know your performance how
you put yourselves towards work. So
that's what we are looking at when we
you know bring new crew when we speak to
people those are this is what we focus
on right the attitude definitely
hope that answered your question thank
you so much
ladies
Good morning. Thank you for give me time
and opportunity
and then uh allow me to introduce myself
first. My name is Nim Eye Pujani.
Usually the people call me EP. I choose
the pronopest department at Monak Bali
Chandidas.
All right.
On this occasion
I have two question for you Miss Kodia.
My question is
as we know pronopication on cruip are
very limited beside gas service.
What other position are most suitable
for pronopist to apply and then to
compete for those position? What is the
single most important skill or
qualification that recruiters look from
a pronopest development background? I
think that's all. I'm so appreciate for
your time and opportunity. Thank you.
>> Thank you.
>> Well, thank you so much. Happy.
Um, okay. So, front office. Yes. Um,
It's always we have always such great
candidates and sometimes not enough
openings perhaps. Uh I guess now with
opening of our ships perhaps we will get
to find more opportunities.
Uh the challenge is of course as we
mentioned we do like to provide a lot of
career opportunities for our crew. So we
have a lot uh of crew members that you
know sometimes they join in you know a
department perhaps through the contract
through the a couple of years working in
the restaurant let's say maybe they find
themselves interested sometimes to work
more in guest services or start a new
career path. We do also offer that
opportunity to our crew right to cross
trainin into different departments. Uh
so it's not just you know you start in
the restaurant and you're stuck in the
restaurant. Uh but no we we uh more and
more we have a lot of crew interested
sometimes in you know in different
departments either sometimes they start
in the galley and then in future perhaps
they would like to work in front office.
So that's also a possibility, right?
Even if you start in a different
department, you can sometimes yes try.
But it still means you will still need
to work hard in your job before you're
being considered. But it's also a
possibility.
Um um guest services, if you want to
start exactly in guest services, yes,
you would need guest services
experience, right? We actually call them
explorer stuff. So it's a combination of
short excursions and yes services. Uh
but yeah we do need at least some a
certain level of experience. There's
certain level of communication expected
as well. Um so before actually we can
consider perhaps in future we will have
more openings. Of course the guest
services department is a little bit
smaller compared to perhaps in a galley
restaurant. keeping where there's maybe
more u yeah it's a bigger department
right so there's perhaps more
opportunity uh but maybe maybe in future
but as I said yes we also offer
opportunities to cross trainin to our
crew if ever they find themselves you
know finding a different career path
later on in the in their cruise ship
life
thank you I don't know if that answer
but hopefully
right here. Claudia,
>> thank you for the time to Mr. Claudia
give to me. Sorry. Uh thank you for the
time that Miss Claudia gift for me. Uh
allow me to introduce myself. My name is
Putama Valentino
and people call me Falen. I'm from
Monach Bali Singar Raja.
I have one questions that Miss Claudia
could you give me one piece of advice to
Monat Bali student who dreams of joining
Viking cruise line who what would it and
why? Thank you Miss Claudia.
>> Thank you.
>> So a piece of advice right what can I
say? Um well you're of course in school
right I guess so you're still learning
but or maybe you finished already but
anyway it's important to get some
experience first try to learn um for
entry level roles we always ask for at
least six to one year experience
uh for us to be able to consider um but
it's always important to you know get
some experience
um ideally you know more premium u hotel
brand perhaps a restaurant uh so it
gives you a better idea what to expect
in Viking as well the same similar
perhaps standard services and so on.
So I would recommend you first you know
to try to get a little bit of experience
in the jobs that you know you wish to
pursue I guess um as I mentioned before
English is very important English
communication to work practice uh that's
something we will uh yeah always
consider that will never change. So
that's my best advice is to try to learn
English. If you're working in a hotel,
if you're working in a restaurant here
in Bali, I'm sure you have so many
tourists all the time, right? People
coming from all over the world. So it's
a great time to, you know, put
yourselves out there to lose that
shyness a little bit, you know, speaking
with uh foreign people and in English.
Um so that's my best advice to you is to
know to get out of that comfort zone and
that will improve your communication
skills for the future.
>> Thank you. I don't know who's next.
There's still so many arms in the air.
Okay, first of all, thank you for the
time, Miss Claudia. And let me introduce
myself. My name is I'm from Manak Balar.
Hi, Monakal.
Okay, my question is what is the
different working system between on the
ocean and river? Thank you.
>> Okay, good question.
>> Thank you.
>> Um the difference, right? Okay. Well,
there's a lot of differences. So, it's
different divisions, different
contracts. However, our brand, it's
standard across our divisions. We offer
the same service. We have the same uh I
guess expectations as well for our crew.
Um but yeah, there's different
contracts. It's uh different
expectations, different requirements
um for the crew itself. That's why uh we
of course standing here we focus more on
ocean and expedition. Um but yeah, it's
it's quite different.
in certain ways. Of course, um of course
the positions are a little bit different
compared to ocean as well, the size of
the ships. Um so, so yeah, it's it's a
little bit different. Um we do have a
lot of guests, sorry, a lot of crew from
uh Indonesia that you know join our
ships on ocean. Uh and sometime through
the years they ask perhaps to river that
can be a possibility. However, it's
quite limited, quite lengthy because it
can take a lot of time to have
opportunities.
Um, but it's also an option. Um, but
within ocean, um, it's either ocean or
expedition. So, you can be working in
one of these. For river, it will be a
little bit different.
But thank you for your question.
Thank you for the opportunity, Miss
Claudia. Let me introduce myself first.
My name is Nimad Pilandari, but people
usually call me Leah. I have one
question.
If someone want want to work with Viking
and they have experience one or three
years as a server at five-star hotel,
could they apply directly for a position
as an assistant writer or start as
steward? Because I heard that when
working on cruise ship, you usually have
to start your career as a steward first.
Thank you.
>> Thank you.
Well, that's okay. So, yeah, if you have
experience as a server in, you said four
or five star hotel
um in Bali, I'm assuming.
Um yeah, well, we always recommend I
think it's always best to start in our
as you said Stewart, we call it cafe
attendant. Um it's the best option I
would say with that level of experience.
Just because working in a hotel in land
and working on a ship, it's different.
Um, of course, some basics might be
similar, right? But a lot of things are
different and it's in a different
environment,
different standards. So, we always
believe that it's, you know, it's good
to start from the beginning, especially,
yes, one, two years experience is still
very new as well, right? So, you're just
starting. So,
to not set anyone up for failure. As I
always say, it's always good to start,
you know, from the beginning and learn
and grow all the way up. Um, we
mentioned already several times there's
a lot of opportunity for growth. So,
yeah, I would say it's always, yeah,
it's good to start, you know, from the
entry level point and then grow up.
>> Okay.
Uh, we're going to have one more
question because of the time.
Yeah.
>> Hello.
Good morning Miss Claudia. Thank you
very much for the times given to me. So
let me introduce myself first. I ami
I'm from and I have a questions for you.
Uh so when we are interviewed we there
must be applicants who are rejected. So
may I know what what's the
qualification? I mean uh what are you
looking for from the applicants and may
I know the minimum age of joining the
Viking ocean cruises because as I know
it must be 21. Thank you.
Yes, thank you.
Yes, the minimum age is 21 years old. Um
so we we don't consider candidates with
younger age than that. Um yes
unfortunately everyone can be
successful, right? We see so many people
every day, me and my colleagues. Um, we
of course wish when we, you know, when
we schedule an interview with someone,
we always wish them to be successful.
Um, but of course we do have our
standards and expectations within our
company and we are always looking for
the best person for the job as we say,
someone we can see can be a match. Um, a
lot of can be against the the person,
right? Some people are better at
interviews than others. That's always
going to be the case. Um, but our
expectation is again, you know, how the
candidate presents themselves. Are they,
you know, well presented?
Because, you know, in Viking, we have
high standards, you know, um, we present
ourselves as a premium brand. So, it's
good if we see a candidate put in the
effort, you know, dressing up nicely to
to show up to see us. Um, and it's all
about, you know, communication. Are they
confident? How they speak. That's also
things we also evaluate. Again, English
communication to tell us about their
experience. We just have conversations
with our candidates uh to get to know
them better. Um, so yeah, these are all
things we evaluate. interaction of
course experience skills there's always
a certain level of knowledge that is
required for the job but it's important
you know all together presentation
communication and skills
thank you so much
I will pass it along now
>> thank you Claudia uh good morning
everyone still morning
>> good morning
