POV: Finjes Tu Muerte Para Salir Del Cártel
You've been the
head accountant for the most dangerous cartel in the
city for 10 years. You know the only way to
quit is by leaving in a
body bag. For months you steal
cash and hide it in an
abandoned warehouse. You buy a
military drug designed to stop your
heartbeat for 3 hours. It's a
suicide plan, but staying means
certain execution by your
bosses. You wait until the mansion is
empty during an important
merchandise delivery. You go to your office bathroom and
swallow the pill without hesitation.
You schedule an automatic message to
alert the guards of your
exact location. The effect is immediate and your
body collapses heavily against the
marble floor. Everything goes dark
as you hear the hurried footsteps
of the hitmen approaching. You
suddenly wake up inside a
completely sealed wooden box.
Panic sets in when you realize you've been
buried alive. You light a
small lighter that you have hidden
in your left shoe. The light reveals
that the box is a coffin and poorly
nailed. You kick the lid with all your
might until the wood finally
gives way. The earth begins to fall on your
face as you push upwards to get
out. You surface coughing up
dirt and looking around
quickly. You are in the
clandestine cemetery that the cartel uses for its
victims. You run towards the nearest road,
taking advantage of the darkness of the
night. You steal an old car that is
parked outside an abandoned gas station
. You drive at full speed
towards the warehouse, where you have hidden
all your money. You know you have little
time before they discover the
coffin is empty. You arrive at the warehouse and
load the bags of money into the trunk
of the car. You pull a fake passport and a
loaded gun from a hidden safe.
Your new name is Carlos and your destination
is a small town very far away.
You hear the sound of tires
screeching to a halt outside the building.
The cartel has already lured you using the
stolen car's hidden GPS. You hide
behind some metal boxes while
three armed hitmen enter. You fire
twice and take down the first man
before he can react. The
second hitman returns fire,
shattering the wood just inches from
your head. You throw a homemade smoke grenade
to completely block their vision
. You run out the
back door as gunshots echo behind you
. You get in your car and accelerate,
knocking down the main gate of the
warehouse. You drive on the
secondary road, avoiding the
main routes and tolls. The
police radio indicates that there are checkpoints at
all exits from the city. You change
direction towards a small
private airport on the outskirts. You've paid a
pilot to be waiting for you with the
engine running. You reach the track just
as two black SUVs appear
in the rearview mirror. You accelerate the stop
directly towards the small plane that
is already moving. You jump out of the
moving vehicle and run towards the
open door of the aircraft. The bullets
begin to impact the
metal fuselage of the plane. The pilot pulls the
lever and the wheels leave the
ground just in time. You look out the
window and see the trucks crashing
into the security fence. For the
first time in 10 years you feel like you've
truly managed to escape. The flight
lasts 12 hours until landing on a
dirt runway on another continent. You
pay the pilot double what was agreed
to ensure his complete silence. You walk
to a nearby town and buy
new clothes at a local market. You take a train
to the capital using your
fake passport for the first time. Nobody gives you a second glance
or suspects the man with the
heavy backpack. The cartel has no
influence or hitmen on this side of the
world. You rent a small apartment by
paying a whole year in advance in
cash. During the first few months you don't
leave the house, except to buy
canned food. You check the news from
your country every day looking for
any mention of you. The cartel has
put a million-dollar price on your
head internationally. They know you
've deceived them and want their
money back at all costs. One afternoon you see a
suspicious man standing on the corner
of your street. He's wearing a dark suit and
talking on a cell phone while
looking out your window. You prepare your weapon and
pack the money in less than 3 minutes.
You exit via the fire escape just
as you hear loud banging on your
door. You run across the rooftops of
neighboring buildings to quickly get away
from danger. You go down a
narrow alley and blend into the
market crowd. You walk quickly,
without looking back, until you reach the
central train station. You buy a one-
way ticket to a random destination
in the north of the country. You get on the train and
sit in the last seat by
the window. The man in the dark suit
boards the same train just before
the doors close. It's clear they
have a professional tracker
following your every move. You wait for the
train to enter a dark tunnel before you
start moving. You walk down the
corridor until you are right behind the
poster's killer. You point your
gun at his back and order him to walk
to the bathroom. They come in and you lock the
door before he can
scream. You interrogate him by pointing the gun at his
head to find out how many more men are
coming. He confesses that he is the only
tracker sent to this
particular city. You knock him unconscious with a
hard blow to the head and take his
phone. You send a message to your bosses
saying that you've completely lost track of them
. You break the device into pieces and
throw it down the toilet of the
moving train. You jump off the train at the
next stop in the middle of nowhere.
You start walking through the forest
looking for a place to spend the night.
Now you know you can never stop
running while they're looking for you.
You walk for three days through the
mountains until you find an
abandoned cabin. The structure is almost in
ruins, but it serves as a
temporary shelter. You cut firewood to make a fire and
hunt small animals to
survive. You hide the money under the
floorboards to keep it safe
at all times. Every noise in the forest
makes you draw your weapon and aim at the
shadows. Constant paranoia is
rapidly becoming your only
companion. Two whole years go by without you
seeing another human being. Your appearance
changes drastically with a long beard
and very unkempt hair. One day
you hear the sound of an engine
approaching along the dirt road. You
hide among the trees with your rifle
ready to shoot to kill. It's a
local postal service vehicle
looking for the wrong address. You lower your
weapon and sigh with relief as you watch the
postman quickly walk away. You decide it's
time to move to a
bigger, more anonymous city. You dig up the
money and walk to the road to
ask for a ride. A truck driver will
take you to the nearest metropolis in
exchange for some money. You buy a
bankrupt car wash business
using a shell corporation.
Now you launder money for
yourself and in a completely legal way. You
hire employees and become
the silent owner that no one notices. The
business thrives quickly thanks to
your experience managing large
sums of cash. You expand the operation
by buying three more car washes in
different areas of the city. You live in
a luxury apartment under the
false name of Roberto Hernandez. You no longer look
over your shoulder every time you walk down
Main Street. Life on the poster
seems like a distant nightmare from another
past life. However, the criminal past
always finds a way to
return. You receive a letter with no
return address at your business's main office
. Inside the envelope is a
photograph of you taken the day before
on the street. On the back of the photo there is
a bank account number and a
deadline. They demand all the money you had
stolen plus the interest accumulated over the
years. You have exactly 48 hours to
transfer the funds or you're dead. The
cartel has found your perfect hiding place
after 5 years of peace. You're not
going to hand over the money for which you
risked your own life. You go to your
secret arsenal and take out
automatic weapons and plastic explosives.
You study your office's security videos
to identify the messenger.
He is a young hitman who has left the
letter and gotten into a gray car. You trace
the vehicle's license plate to a hotel
in the city center. It's time to
stop running away forever and start
hunting. You arrive at the hotel at midnight
dressed in black and with your face covered.
You go up the emergency stairs
to the fifth floor where they are staying.
You place an explosive charge in the
room's lock and walk away.
The explosion destroys the door and fills
the hallway with very thick smoke. You enter,
firing blindly at the figures
moving in the dark. Two
hitmen fall to the ground before they can
reach their own weapons. The
squad leader comes out of the bathroom firing a
repeating shotgun. You take cover behind
an armchair as the pellets
tear through the plaster wall. You throw a
reaper grenade into the center of the
room and close your eyes tightly. The
white explosion illuminates the place and leaves
the man completely disoriented. You come out
of your hiding place and shoot him twice
in the center of his chest. You approach to
make sure that absolutely no
one is left alive. You take the phone of the
dead leader and look for the last number he
dialed. You call that line
directly to speak to the big
boss of the cartel. You tell him that his
best men are dead in a
cheap hotel in the city. You warn him
that if he sends someone else,
he will be the next target. You hang up the
phone and leave the building before
the local police arrive. You have sent
a clear and violent message that they will not
be able to ignore. You return to your
apartment and pack only the essentials
in a tactical backpack. You go to your
car wash business and burn all the
financial records. You spill gasoline
all over the office and light a
match to destroy the evidence. The
fire consumes all your legal work in a
matter of just a few minutes. You get in
your car and drive towards the border
before dawn. Your peaceful life
as Roberto Hernandez has ended
forever in that city. You cross into a new
country using the third fake passport
you have stored away. You settle on a
small tropical island where cash
is king. You buy a
fishing boat and dedicate yourself to working
daily on the open sea. The
physical work is hard, but it keeps your
mind occupied and very calm. Nobody
asks questions in a place full of
fugitives and exiled criminals. He
mars the last traces of your
dark and bloody past. Every night you
sit on the deck of your ship
looking at the stars. You have the money
hidden in secret compartments
below the main deck. Sometimes
you hear strange noises on the dock and
your hand reaches for the gun. You know you'll
never be completely safe from the
reach of the powerful cartel. But faking
your death was the only right decision you
could have made in your life. Now you are
a ghost silently sailing through
international waters. One day, a
wealthy tourist rents your boat for
a private ride. You find it strange
because he pays three times the
normal rate without haggling at all. When he gets on
board, you notice a familiar tattoo on his
right wrist. It was the distinctive mark
of your former
crime boss's elite hitmen. You stay calm and
start the engine as if absolutely
nothing were wrong. They sail out to sea,
moving many kilometers away from the
safe coast.
The tourist pulls out a silenced gun
when they lose sight of the ground,
points it at your head and smiles, saying that he
has finally found you. You feign
terror and slowly raise your hands
upwards, begging for mercy. He
approaches to enjoy his victory.
Before pulling the trigger, you step on a
hidden switch in the ship's floor
that activates a mechanical trap. A
wooden beam hits his back,
violently throwing him straight into the ocean. The
hitman tries to swim, but his
heavy clothing quickly pulls him down.
You start the engine at full power and
speed away from the boat. You watch
as it sinks into the dark waters without
leaving any trace of its existence.
You clean the deck and make sure there are
no traces of the confrontation left.
You return to the port inventing a
believable story about a tragic
diving accident. The local police
accept your version of events, provided it is accompanied by a
very generous bribe. You sell the boat the
next day and take a commercial plane
to Asia. You understand that the pursuit will
not end until the
cartel boss is dead. You use your contacts
in the black market to buy
classified and valuable information.
You discover that your former boss is going to
attend a crime summit in Tokyo.
You buy a first-class ticket and
prepare your military assault gear. It's
the exact moment to cut off the
snake's head once and for all. You arrive in Tokyo
and stay in a skyscraper opposite
the meeting point. You spend two days
assembling a sniper rifle that
you put together in small pieces. You watch
the building's entrance through the
telescopic sight without rest.
Finally you see the convoy of
armored trucks you know so
well arrive. The cartel boss gets out of the
vehicle surrounded by
heavily armed bodyguards. You adjust the aim
by pointing directly at the exact center
of their forehead. You pull the trigger and
feel the recoil of the weapon hit your
right shoulder. The bullet crosses the street and
hits the target before
the shot is heard.
The boss falls to the ground and panic
grips his security men.
You disassemble the rifle in seconds and put it
in a black business briefcase. You leave
the hotel, walk calmly, and
blend in with the city's pedestrians.
The job is done and your freedom
is finally guaranteed by force.
You move to a coastal city in
Australia to start over again
. The cartel
completely disintegrates after the death of its
main leader. Different factions
begin killing each other for
total control of the territory. Your name
is quickly forgotten amidst the
war and the bloodshed. You invest
your money in real estate under
legitimate companies with fake names. Finally,
you can sleep a full night without
having a gun under your pillow. It's
been 20 years since that night you
faked your death. Your hair
is gray and you walk with the
absolute tranquility of an ordinary man. No one would
suspect that this old merchant
stole millions and killed in order to
survive. Sometimes you watch
mafia movies on television and laugh at their
tactical mistakes. Reality is much
colder, faster, and quieter than
movie fiction. Only those
who strike first and never look
back survive.
