Hello everyone, I'm Terry. It's 8pm in the west coast of the US. The US is a magical country. We live in a parallel universe. There are 80,000 COVID-19 cases a day. More than 2,000 people die every day. But I find that everyone is just like the American people. It's very easy and very pleasant. Take a look. Actually, I didn't go out with my family.
Anyways, I think I will get COVID sooner or later here. Maybe I have already got it several times. Anyways, last April, I posted a video to share my stock investment distribution with you. Now that 2021 has just passed, I want to reflect on my strategy of investing last year. Then I will share with you here how I plan to invest this year and my thoughts on the future 3 to 5 years.
As always, this video is not a suggestion from the investor. I just want to share my honest thoughts with you guys. If you think I am sincere enough, please give me a thumbs up. Because it will only take you 0.2 seconds to like this video. Thank you, Hello Kitty. First, let's start with the biggest mistake. I like to talk about my own failure. Alibaba was my only loyal shareholder at that time. It was also one of the companies I was optimistic about. You can see that the highest point of $309 last year has fallen to $129 today.
In 2021, the whole year's performance was 50% lower than the S&P500 big market. In 2020, it rose to nearly 27% of the performance. It's really a big difference. I sold all of my Ali stocks in November last year. The reason I did this is not because I don't want to
I can make money back faster
I will share which companies I am more optimistic about later. In addition, on accounting, my capital loss can be used to cover the capital income tax in the future. So last year, I think this money can be used better elsewhere. At that time, I decided to clear all of Ali's stocks. The next company is Tesla. Tesla has always been my most optimistic company. When my stock fell to $500 last year, I made a video about why I want to buy only Tesla. I haven't sold any of my stocks since I started building my business.
which is also my biggest share of the company, with about 40% of the total. Tesla's performance in 2021 was quite impressive, with a total of 50% growth. I'm not surprised, either. I'm sure many of my friends know that when Tesla dropped to 500, I kept asking them to buy. I wouldn't suggest buying on the channel or reveal my own prediction, but I always tell my friends who are better than me that Tesla will definitely break the record by the end of 2021, and it did in less than 11 months. Why do I like Tesla so much? The main reason is its mass production and production process.
Now you can see a new company starting to make electric vehicles every month Or a traditional car company has a new electric car The mass production is the key Tesla's technology is to directly press the car out of the car Unlike traditional car companies that need hundreds of parts to make it into a piece The production cost is greatly reduced The production capacity is naturally increased and the competitors are thrown out for several years
Tesla has delivered 930,000 cars in total last year, beating all of Wall Street's forecasts, and has grown by 87% compared to last year. Think about how difficult 2021 has been. The pandemic, shortage of supply chain, chip problems, and a bunch of black-out Tesla incidents. In such a difficult year, it can still achieve such results. I can't imagine which company can compete with it. I think in the next three to five years, it will be the era of explosive growth for Tesla.
This year, Berlin and Dezhou's super factories will be launched. Shanghai's factories will continue to expand. 4680 battery starts to be mass produced. Sandman and Cybertron will be launched. I can't imagine how terrible Tesla will grow after the supply chain problem is solved. In fact, I still hope that its stock will continue to fall to 8-900 in the short term. This way, there will be more opportunities to buy in.
Anyway, for me, this is the simplest investment. Then there is Nvidia, the world's largest GPU company. Nvidia, I think in the next three to five years, there will still be a lot of room for growth. Although last year it rose by 125%, it's a pity that I didn't build this company before. Although it looks expensive now, but basically you can imagine that all the future technologies are related to Nvidia. Starting with the most popular cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency mining, high efficiency graphics cards, now it's hard to get a card. Now good graphics cards are only available on the bull market.
Another industry is AI. I think everyone agrees that AI needs to be developed in the future. Machine learning and deep learning require a lot of high-summing GPUs to be implemented. NVIDIA is definitely the main supplier. Next, we all know that electric vehicles and autonomous driving are the trend in the future. NVIDIA has a complete set of N2N autonomous driving development platforms.
The integration of hardware and software is also the biggest weakness of traditional car industry. It can help traditional car industry to transform faster and compete with Tesla. So I can't imagine any future trend is not related to Nvidia. And if the supply chain problem is solved, I believe Nvidia will win a bigger wave of growth. I started to build my business slowly from the beginning of this year and plan to continue to buy Nvidia. Another company that I started to build my business slowly from the beginning of this year is Palantir. Actually, I've been following this company for a long time.
I remember when I was in college, I heard my staff say that it's very difficult to interview a volunteer. It's hard to get into an internship company. I think in the next three to five years, AI technology will become more mainstream. Volunteers have accumulated years of leading industry technology, which is also difficult to replace. In the past year or two, the reason why the stock has not been in good shape is probably because the financial report is not good. Because they give employees a lot of stock rewards. In fact, I think this is a good mechanism for the long term. To be the top AI company in the world, the number of employees must be the highest. The most amazing talent is to spend a lot of money on stocks.
Although I bought it at a very low price, ARKK's performance last year was 23% lower than the big market. Why didn't I buy it? I think ARKK's investment direction is quite special. It is dedicated to investing in high-growth, high-destruction small and medium-sized companies. For me, it's a bit like investing in a startup. Because my investment year is very long.
I can put a 10 years 20 years So I didn't plan to sell it I plan to keep it And it's still the same I think because of the slowdown this year The reason for the increase These high-growth stocks The stock will be suppressed very badly The main reason is because of the market's emotional impact But this will not directly affect the company Keep innovating The outbreak is likely to grow
I think in the long run, I'm still optimistic that these destructive tech companies can change the way humans live in the future. And Buffett once said, "You have to accept that you may have a 50% or more share in the short term when you buy a stock. The value and faith in your heart are very important." There are also many companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft,
I basically set my head on ETFs like VOOs. This is a more boring investment, but from a historical perspective, it is also the most stable. I think if you don't want to take too much risk and you are too lazy to do research, you can just throw S&P 500. Each place has its own ETF that follows the S&P 500 index, such as VOO in the United States and Taiwan's Yuanda 0066. You can google it yourself to see which ETFs follow the S&P 500 index in your area. The S&P 500's return in the past 10 years has basically been a downfall.
Wall Street's hedge fund. In the past 60 years, S&P 500 has an annual return of 10% on average. It's the most boring but also the simplest investment. That's all I have for the next three to five years. It's just because I'm personally interested in sharing with you here. It's definitely not a investment suggestion. No one can predict the trend and market mood of future stocks. We can only make the most reasonable and rational decision with the existing information.
The best investment strategy is dollar cost averaging. Keep buying and never all in. Some of my friends on Instagram asked me how they invest in US stocks when they are not in the US. There are many good investment platforms. I have worked with an old-school investment platform called IB. They have a history of more than 40 years in the US. It is also convenient to open a stock overseas. It is a more professional trading agency in the industry. If you are interested, you can find the link in the information bar below the video.
