So in the beginning of the year, I made my first screw up in my life. At that time, I said in the video that I wanted to take a break for a while. I did take a break for more than a month. I said I had a few options. The first one is that I can start a business and continue to do my consulting company. Or I can start doing some part-time jobs. Anyway, I don't want to make myself so tired. My previous goal was to make a lot of money and not let go of any chance to make money.

Well, I didn't do that. This is why the title of the video is "I lied to everyone." I actually lied to myself. But what I want to clarify is that I really thought I would do this. I did do it in this direction. I've done my mental preparation.

I had a friend who suddenly met me. A good friend. We've known each other for over 10 years. He told me, "Yo, Terry, come to our company and help me." At first, I didn't want to do this. I said I really didn't have the time and the energy. If there was anything else I could help, I could try to help you. But I couldn't get a job. And I was just not willing to continue working, so I lost it.

So I agreed to it. There were two main reasons why I agreed to it. The first reason is that this is actually my friend's second company. Actually, four years ago, his first startup was hiring founders.

Initial survival, 90% of the new founders will be fired. Only 10% of the new founders will be able to get A-Round after getting the seed.

After the A, B, and C rounds, more and more companies will be eliminated. There are very few companies that can really hold out to the end. In general, only 0.1% to 0.5% of new companies can have a good exit. That is, IPO or high-end acquisition. As I mentioned earlier, this company is the second company of my friend. His first company was quite successful. Now the market value is about $500 million.

So he actually has a good track record. And I actually watched him start his own business from 0 to 1. He worked from 3am to 1pm every day. At that time, he slept on my sofa for a month. Anyway, he's a hardworking founder. Because I've worked with a lot of founders, I probably know which ones are really potential, which ones are likely to succeed, and which ones just make a mouthful. Like me, I just make a mouthful. Anyway, there are all kinds of reasons. I was cheated by a good friend who I trusted.

So my plan to slow down was ruined. It was like a new 0-1 process. The most painful process for a new startup. Sometimes I doubt if I have a tendency to be bullied. Anyways, we are hiring software engineers now. Our goal is to build the core department of R&D in Asia-Pacific region, especially Taiwan. We have two engineers and one designer based in Taiwan. Three of them are in Vietnam.

It's a waste of time, so I don't want to waste your time. Plus, my channel has always been about public transparency. The company's culture is also like this. So we just make this figure clear. Because the company's equity is more complicated, because it involves the valuation of our next round of financing. So how much of the specific equity will be discussed with you at the offer stage? We don't hire people just for the money, but we really want to do something. If you feel bored working at Google, and you don't want to continue to be a screw driver in a big company, and you want to lead an impact project, and you want to experience the process of leadership together, you can consider it. Many companies meet there every day, design approval, and then write documentation. What we need at this stage is execution and accountability. I don't care if you graduated from NTU or not.

We communicate with our employees in Slack or in meetings in English. We also use English for interviews. But you don't need to speak English. You just need to communicate with them. Our colleagues in Vietnam have a strong English accent. But it doesn't matter because we can still communicate. The back of the product is Python. The front is React. The back is AWS. It doesn't matter if you haven't written it. Just write it when you start working.
