Sugar

0:01

>> poison.

0:02

>> Fast food

0:03

>> poison.

0:04

>> Alcohol

0:05

>> poison.

0:07

>> Taxes poison. I'm kind of just joking

0:10

about that one. The point is modern day

0:12

life is filled with things that are just

0:13

straight up bad for you. They're killing

0:15

you slowly is the best way to put it.

0:16

But what happens if you quit them all at

0:18

once and return back to a simpler time

0:20

before everything was about attention

0:22

and [music] mass consumption? For the

0:24

next seven days, I'm quitting every

0:25

modern-day poison to see how much my

0:27

life, body, and mind actually change and

0:30

whether [music] any of this stuff

0:31

actually makes us happier in the first

0:32

place.

0:36

To start off this experiment, I got a

0:38

brain scan to see how these poisons are

0:40

essentially ruining my brain. As

0:41

expected, it wasn't good. Red means the

0:44

highest amount of activation. There's a

0:46

lot of red. Here's what the doctor had

0:48

to say. This finding is very consistent

0:51

or it's [music] the sign of the high

0:52

functioning cognitively engaged

0:55

individual even during the rest. It's

0:58

like [music] it always working. When you

1:00

need it, you have the full power but

1:03

when you don't need it, the brain should

1:04

back to the state of the relaxation

1:07

which the brain is not coming back and

1:10

the network of the attention is also

1:13

impaired.

1:13

>> Well, that was a wakeup call. On top of

1:16

the brain scan, I also checked my

1:17

starting weight, which is 188.3 pounds.

1:20

Here's a quick look at my physique.

1:25

I'm also going to be tracking my sleep

1:26

and most importantly to me, my skin.

1:29

Okay, well, let's let the fun begin.

1:32

[music]

1:33

Well, I definitely have the fight

1:35

orflight activation you'd expect from

1:37

quitting 10 addictions cold turkey all

1:39

at the same time. I'm I'm so nervous for

1:42

this one. Oh my god. But I just had to

1:43

remind myself even though I'm quitting

1:45

all of these things, I'm still less

1:46

restricted than a vegan, so it could

1:48

always be worse. Now, I know by the end

1:50

of this week, I'm definitely going to be

1:52

healthier, but I don't know about

1:54

happier. So, to make things easier on

1:55

me, I'm going to go around the house

1:57

[music] and just remove all the

1:58

temptations besides Katie, of course.

2:01

Now, here's the list of the 10 things

2:03

I'm quitting. Some of you might be like,

2:04

"Oh my god, seed oils are great for you,

2:05

or caffeine helps you live longer."

2:07

Regardless of what I agree with, they're

2:09

controversial and on my list, so stop

2:11

it. First thing I'm getting rid of are

2:12

all my supplements.

2:15

Next, my snacks. I love these strawberry

2:17

yogi things. I also love rice cakes, but

2:20

cayman didn't eat them, so neither am I.

2:22

>> I think I'm actually going to unplug the

2:23

coffee machine because I just I can't

2:25

bear it to be on waiting for me to press

2:28

that button right there.

2:32

Some things were harder to get rid of

2:33

than others, like my Nintendo Switch.

2:35

I'm a Mario Kart fiend. What can I say?

2:37

But this week is all about making

2:38

healthy replacements. Time to [music]

2:40

delete all my apps. Saying goodbye to

2:42

some unbelievable snap streaks. 3,000

2:44

plus days, actually. So, I I might need

2:46

to get somebody to log on my account. My

2:49

phone feels so pure right now. It's

2:52

weird. It's like I am holding hands with

2:54

a virgin. But I've officially removed

2:57

all temptations from the house besides

3:00

the camera I'm using to film this video.

3:02

Don't even comment that. I know.

3:05

I know. I am out front of Whole Foods

3:07

right now about to go inside and get

3:09

some groceries and it's I think it's

3:11

going to be tough. [music] You know,

3:12

like Whole Foods is marketed as the

3:14

healthier grocery store, but I just

3:16

think that they're professional

3:17

gaslighters. Like take a chocolate chip

3:18

cookie, add some chia seeds, boom,

3:21

health intervention, you know? I also

3:23

just know I'm going to struggle

3:24

immensely with the microplastic

3:26

situation because like the world is

3:30

essentially one big giant Tupperware

3:32

with Wi-Fi. Yeah, it's going to be

3:33

difficult, but I'm just going to try the

3:35

best I can.

3:37

>> I grabbed my cart, walked inside, and

3:39

immediately noticed my arch nemesis,

3:43

>> microlastics.

3:45

>> Literally, over 50% of the fruits and

3:47

veggies are covered in plastic.

3:49

>> So, I just grabbed some of the produce

3:51

that wasn't wrapped up in plastic, then

3:52

made my way over to the meat section.

3:54

>> Can I get the beef rib steak? Oh, is it

3:56

is it possible not to get it in plastic?

3:59

H,

3:59

>> you want some?

4:00

>> Yeah. Thank you.

4:04

I feel so difficult doing that. Meat

4:07

acquired.

4:09

I have never had such a hard time

4:11

grocery shopping in my entire life. Like

4:13

I'm just like mentally blanking.

4:15

Everything that you think looks to be

4:17

good. You just check the back and then

4:18

there's something they slip in to humble

4:20

you. I I I'm going to have to start my

4:23

own farm and garden or something. I'm

4:26

being that guy looking for Greek yogurt

4:28

in a glass container.

4:30

You know when they say just shop the

4:31

outside of the grocery store? Yeah,

4:34

they're right. But even [music] doing

4:35

that, you're still limited.

4:36

>> Look how healthy that card is. Crazy

4:39

work. We're only a few hours into day

4:42

one, and it's already made me realize

4:44

how many bad habits I have. Turns out

4:46

I'm I'm mostly made of bad habits. But

4:48

breakfast today is looking quite a bit

4:50

different than normal. A typical

4:52

breakfast for me would be like a protein

4:53

bar, egg whites from the carton, and an

4:56

energy drink, and a coffee. maybe two

4:59

coffees. But this is looking good. We

5:01

have four whole eggs. We have a cup of

5:04

the yogurt, which is made from grass-fed

5:06

organic whole milk. And then we have

5:09

this massive apple, which I have never

5:12

washed an apple so hard in my entire

5:14

life because that apple, it it raw

5:16

dogged the cashier counter. Probably had

5:18

more disease than Bonnie Blue's bed

5:19

sheets. So, it got a triple wash. Let's

5:21

try it out.

5:25

Oh my god, that's good. M.

5:29

The anticipation of this yogurt is

5:31

killing me. It had a cream top. I don't

5:32

even know what the hell that means. I

5:34

got to pour it into the bowl, which is

5:36

not a good sound. Like a thick Greek

5:38

yogurt.

5:41

Oh, wow. It's like I have my mouth

5:43

straight on the cow's udder. I was

5:45

wondering if I was going to gain weight

5:46

or lose weight on this challenge, but

5:48

I'm starting to think that I'm going to

5:49

lose a lot of weight because I kind of

5:52

have no idea what to do [music] besides

5:54

like the same things and it's just going

5:55

to get really old really fast. And I'm

5:57

also getting kind of worried about

5:58

getting my protein in. I [music] never

6:01

struggle getting my protein in. About to

6:03

enjoy this big old banana for a snack.

6:07

And I'm already having a very [music]

6:08

hard time just trying to figure out what

6:10

to do with my hands. Like they feel

6:12

lost. they feel confused. The amount of

6:15

times that I've reached for my phone and

6:17

just tried to swipe over to Instagram or

6:19

YouTube or whatever is concerning. Like

6:22

I posted an Instagram yesterday at Boba

6:24

and I celebrating 5 million subscribers,

6:26

which reminds me, you should subscribe.

6:27

We're trying to hit 10 million, but I

6:29

can't even go on to see what people are

6:31

saying. I feel so lost. I feel so out of

6:33

the loop. But again, the amount of times

6:35

I'm going for my phone, it's scary.

6:38

Like, it is eye opening. It's just

6:40

giving me a wakeup call when this is all

6:41

over that I definitely have to fix

6:43

something because it's an addiction. I'm

6:45

going to have to keep these hands

6:46

occupied somehow. So, I feel like it's

6:49

going to be a lot of

6:51

self-reflection, I guess you could say,

6:53

this week. But hopefully because it's

6:55

just day one, [music]

6:57

you know, things are at an alltime worse

6:58

and then as the days progress,

7:00

things get a little better. I can't

7:02

remember the last time I enjoyed a

7:04

banana in this way in a very long time.

7:06

just sitting looking outside [music]

7:08

relaxing without anything occupying my

7:10

mind while I eat. It was clear that

7:11

these poisons have held me captive for a

7:14

very long time.

7:19

I am outside the bookstore right now,

7:22

which is huge. Like, if you guys knew me

7:24

well, you would know that I just don't

7:25

read. It's not that I can't, it's

7:27

[music] just that I just have that

7:29

ability exclusively on menus. But I just

7:32

need to find something that's going to

7:33

be mentally stimulating tonight. just

7:35

something for my nighttime activity. So,

7:37

I'm trading in my phone for my book,

7:39

which is a dream that my parents [music]

7:41

gave up on half my lifetime ago. So,

7:43

they're going to be very happy about

7:45

this. And maybe, just maybe, I actually

7:48

might like reading. It's been a while

7:49

since I've tried it.

7:52

Books. Like I said, I don't read, so I

7:55

really have no idea what to pick.

7:57

Travel, business, [music] new age,

7:59

whatever that means. True crime could be

8:01

fun. Horror, I want to be able to sleep.

8:08

Oh my god, that guy's hot.

8:09

>> Romance really had my attention.

8:14

>> But I thought it was best to leave it to

8:16

a professional.

8:17

>> Hi, I was wondering if you had any like

8:18

book recommendations,

8:19

>> recommendations for specific subject.

8:22

>> Um, I'm just trying to get into reading

8:24

now.

8:26

>> My coworker cat's heading over. She's

8:27

great. She'll

8:28

>> Okay, thanks so much.

8:30

>> Got my book. For dinner tonight, I have

8:32

some sauteed mushrooms, onions and

8:34

peppers, some baked sweet potato, and

8:36

some asparagus. And then resting in the

8:39

shadows is the star of the show, which

8:42

is this beautiful,

8:45

massive ribeye. It's just been sitting

8:46

there chilling for the past 10 minutes

8:48

cuz I've always been taught, let the

8:50

meat rest and it'll give you its best.

8:53

Get all those juices to disperse. Oh

8:57

[snorts] man, this meal is extremely

9:00

simple, but anything complex is an

9:02

invitation to death. That's how I'm

9:04

seeing things this week. But this meat

9:06

is like, "Shut up, Will, and put me in."

9:08

All right. I've had a ribeye in a long

9:11

time. I just knew I was going to need

9:12

the calories tonight cuz I have not

9:14

eaten that much [music] today.

9:20

Oh my god. Oh my god. I'm so hungry.

9:23

>> [snorts]

9:23

>> I have not made this much eye contact

9:25

with what I'm eating since my honeymoon.

9:31

One of the worst things that you can do

9:33

before bed is just scroll on your phone.

9:34

It's terrible, which is the reason why I

9:37

got a book. So, the lady recommended I

9:39

read The Silent Patient, which is

9:40

apparently about a person who goes to a

9:42

psych ward and doesn't speak to anybody,

9:45

which kind of feels like a metaphor for

9:46

the situation I'm currently in. But I'm

9:48

really hoping that reading helps just

9:51

improve my sleep score, bring my stress

9:53

down before bed, because even though you

9:55

might not feel it, you're probably

9:56

stressed out a lot scrolling on your

9:58

phone and seeing a bunch of different

9:59

things. So, hoping this calms me down.

10:01

Goal 30 pages.

10:04

>> This is what Dr. Resza said about phones

10:06

before bed.

10:06

>> Reducing the cognitive load, especially

10:09

digital cognitive load, is really

10:10

important. Not only because of the the

10:14

white light or the blue light, it's just

10:16

the cognitive load. We wanted to

10:18

decrease that. The one things in the

10:19

social media we always going oh next

10:22

next 2 minutes next go to next next.

10:25

When you are reading the book book is a

10:27

slow it's like you have go line by line

10:29

page by page and have more attention

10:32

just relax.

10:37

A lot less bloated this morning than

10:39

normal. Probably because I don't have a

10:41

gallon of Coke Zero in my body. That

10:44

would do it. My head is feeling a bit

10:46

off. The headache is starting to come on

10:48

right now and my body is definitely

10:51

noticing the absence of certain

10:52

substances, mainly caffeine and

10:55

artificial sweeteners. [music] But even

10:56

with all that, my sleep last night was

10:59

amazing. One of the best in a very long

11:01

time. And looking at my sleep scores

11:03

from the previous days before this

11:04

challenge, I got an 83. Then I got

11:07

another 83. And then last night, I got a

11:10

90, which is optimal, well rested. But

11:13

the big one is the readiness score. So,

11:16

a couple days before I got a 73, then I

11:20

got a 68, which isn't very good. And

11:22

then last night, a massive jump to 84.

11:26

So, I'm already noticing a massive

11:28

difference in my sleep quality from one

11:31

day of eliminating all this crap. Things

11:33

are looking pretty good so far, but this

11:35

minor headache was just the beginning.

11:37

Feeling pretty good about myself today.

11:40

Probably because there's no Instagram to

11:41

remind me what my physique isn't and

11:43

make me regret all the treats that I've

11:44

had the past 5 years. It's not that

11:46

Instagram takes over my life or

11:47

anything. The only thing it does is just

11:49

makes me regret that I'm not somebody

11:50

else, but no Instagram, no body

11:53

dysmorphia. Imagine [music] that. I'm

11:55

also getting this workout done in half

11:56

the time because I'm not checking my

11:58

phone between sets. Like, I'm blowing

12:00

through this workout. Training without

12:02

my phone constantly lighting up with

12:04

notifications was way more enjoyable

12:06

than I expected. [music] With no

12:07

distractions, the silence was actually

12:09

kind of therapeutic. One thing that I

12:11

cannot believe I'm about to say is I am

12:13

having a hard time eating enough. And I

12:15

thought it was going to impact my

12:16

workout, but luckily it hasn't. But I

12:19

think all the meals that I'm having are

12:20

just so rich in nutrients, fat that I'm

12:23

not used to, and just good quality foods

12:25

that it's keeping me full for hours.

12:27

Whereas normally I would just chase

12:29

protein, volume, lower fat, which does

12:32

get me full, but then it just keeps me

12:34

full for like an hour, hour and a half.

12:36

So it doesn't really do much. So the

12:38

higher quality foods are definitely

12:40

sitting better and longer in my stomach.

12:43

So I definitely have to keep that in

12:44

mind. With my meal plan going forward, I

12:46

might have to actually add olive oil to

12:48

my food.

12:50

Crazy.

12:51

>> With my workout complete, it was time to

12:53

make my poison free lunch.

12:56

Take a look at this lunch. I'm going to

12:58

give you guys 2 seconds [music] to

12:59

screenshot it. It's so beautiful. We

13:00

[snorts] got kiwi, watermelon, peaches,

13:03

we got egg, chicken, [music] avocado,

13:06

and a mini schnowzer. I'm going to eat

13:07

you up. You're so cute. I'm not actually

13:08

going to eat you. The amount of

13:10

different colors in this small vicinity

13:12

is truly a beautiful thing. It's like

13:14

the United Nations on my plate. Oh man.

13:17

Oh, hello little yolk driage.

13:21

Ain't nothing [music] poisonous about a

13:23

peach. I can't even remember the last

13:25

time I sat and ate lunch outside. Also

13:28

without my phone or my laptop. [music]

13:32

Like my tongue's getting worked, not my

13:34

thumb. I feel like I'm actually tasting

13:36

the food today

13:38

and I'm present with it.

13:41

I did not expect to be eating this much

13:43

fruit. So, I guess I underestimated how

13:45

fruity I really am. But there's

13:47

definitely a satisfaction component

13:49

[music] to eating like this. Similar to

13:51

Uber Eats. With Uber Eats, you get it

13:52

delivered to your door. It tastes

13:54

amazing. There's little thought, little

13:57

effort put into it. But with this, it's

13:59

the [music] effort that's satisfying.

14:01

You know, seeing all the colors, seeing

14:03

all the nutrients, seeing that it's

14:04

doing good for your body is something

14:07

that's actually pretty addictive.

14:09

getting kind of bored right now. So,

14:11

it's time to refresh the feed, aka going

14:14

for a walk. And I'm just having a really

14:16

hard time entertaining myself because

14:19

every single thing that I want to do is

14:21

a big no no. Like, what I would give to

14:24

crack open a crispy Coke Zero and just

14:26

rip some Mario Kart. Oh, or watch a

14:29

movie or just doom scroll a little bit

14:30

on my phone sounds so nice, but nope.

14:34

It's about building new habits. So, I'm

14:36

just trying to be outside as much as I

14:37

possibly can. just do different things

14:40

and eventually it will not feel as

14:43

weird. But on the bright side, my

14:46

cravings and desires are significantly

14:48

less than day one, which is good. After

14:50

the walk, Boba and I played a pretty

14:52

intense game of tag in the backyard. The

14:54

little guy is so quick now. Then we read

14:56

together. This book is actually

14:58

incredible. After I played some chess

15:00

with Katie.

15:07

Next, I did some red light therapy for

15:09

15 minutes. And lastly, some cleaning.

15:11

[music]

15:11

I really had to distract myself. As you

15:13

can see, the poisons still had a hold on

15:15

me. The scariest part wasn't quitting.

15:18

It was realizing how much control they

15:20

had over me. I have just been getting

15:22

after it today. I've just been doing

15:24

things non-stop, [music] productive or

15:26

not. At one point, I was reading the

15:29

ingredients in my shampoo bottle. What

15:31

this challenge really has revealed to me

15:32

is that I have a shocking amount of free

15:35

time. Like I am the most available man

15:37

in North America, but it's 4:00 now and

15:40

this is typically when I would have a

15:41

snack, like a protein bar, and we're

15:43

going to have a protein bar, but a more

15:45

healthy natural protein bar. So, I

15:47

brought with me on the road

15:51

a bar of Parmesan cheese. It's certainly

15:54

tastier than an actual protein bar.

15:58

We will not discuss the calorie

16:00

comparisons, though. This is actually my

16:02

first snack of the day, which is

16:03

extremely rare because now snacks are so

16:06

less convenient and I'm way more limited

16:08

in my options. It really makes me

16:10

question if I'm actually hungry or not.

16:13

And a lot of times I'm not really. So

16:15

back when I'd be like, I'm kind of

16:17

hungry. I grab a protein bar. Now I'm

16:18

like, well, I have fruit, I have this,

16:20

or do I really want to go grill a

16:22

chicken breast? I'm like, nah. So I

16:24

mean, it is kind of good. You get more

16:26

in tuned with the hunger cues.

16:28

I have the biggest headache of my life

16:31

right now. Like my brain feels like it's

16:34

being congested and I'm feeling very

16:36

agitated right now. I'm craving drinks

16:40

more than food. The artificial

16:43

sweeteners in an energy drink or like a

16:45

diet soda just sounds so good right now.

16:48

Thankfully, I'm not craving alcohol

16:49

because that would be concerning. Now,

16:52

nighttime is usually when I binge watch

16:53

a month's worth of TV in a matter of

16:56

days. Tonight, I was entertained by my

16:59

own shadow instead.

17:02

It's really hard finding things to fill

17:04

my night because everything that I want

17:07

to do is poisonous or severely

17:09

timerestricted. So, I'm just sitting

17:12

here relaxing and if my house is

17:15

haunted, my senses are fully available

17:18

to sense it. Good morning. It's day

17:20

number three of being poisonree, and I'm

17:22

starting to notice a difference in my

17:24

skin. It looks more vibrant. It looks

17:26

more smooth and I feel like I just look

17:28

less tired and more alive. So, it turns

17:30

out the real glow up is just not eating

17:32

like a raccoon. I didn't upgrade my

17:34

skincare routine. I'm just downgrading

17:36

all my bad habits. However, I still do

17:39

feel like somebody going through

17:41

withdrawal from multiple things at once.

17:43

So, the duct tape keeping my mind

17:44

together is holding so far. [music] Just

17:47

barely.

17:49

Let's go make breakfast.

17:51

Today, I decided I wanted to make an

17:53

omelette. And this process is looking a

17:55

little different than normal. For one,

17:56

I'm using whole eggs instead of egg

17:58

whites. Next, I'm swapping my plastic

18:00

cutting board for a wooden cutting

18:02

board. I probably have so many credit

18:03

cards worth of plastic in my body. Then,

18:05

instead of a toxic non-stick pan, I used

18:07

an aluminum pan.

18:12

And for my spatula, again, we went from

18:14

plastic to wood.

18:20

Well, I was marketed the perfect

18:23

omelette on the pan, but then why does

18:25

mine look like it got scraped off the

18:26

sidewalk after a 10-story fall?

18:29

Like, I think at this point, I'd rather

18:31

a non-stick pan and a plastic spatula to

18:35

make my freaking omelette. That wooden

18:36

spatula is a double agent because sure,

18:38

it's protecting me from microlastics,

18:42

but then it just ruined my omelette. It

18:44

like literally every single thing sticks

18:46

to it. So frustrating. Why do all things

18:49

that have to be good have to just be so

18:51

inconvenient? But I guess that's the

18:53

help from the chemicals that make things

18:55

so easy.

19:00

It doesn't even taste [music] like an

19:01

omelette. I think I'm just being bitter.

19:02

I did not know there was a pickle ball

19:04

court within minutes of my home.

19:07

Gentrification just sneaks up on you

19:08

sometimes, doesn't it? But it's crazy

19:10

what you miss when your head is down

19:12

looking at your phone. You miss all the

19:13

beautiful things around you. And I've

19:14

[music] been wanting to get into pickle

19:15

ball more consistently for the longest

19:17

time. And I've just been saying I'm too

19:20

busy only just to be at home watching

19:22

TV, being on social media. But now with

19:25

those gone,

19:26

here I am. I'm getting into it. I've

19:29

also been outside so much I might

19:30

actually get a tan. Having a little post

19:33

pickle ball picnic. So, one of my go-to

19:35

meals is half a pound of ground turkey,

19:38

whole eggs, and then fresh parmesan

19:39

cheese shaved on top. I'm calling it boy

19:42

kibble. And then on the side, got an

19:44

[music] apple. And then all I've been

19:46

drinking the entire week is either water

19:49

or some peppermint tea. This is

19:52

incredibly relaxing. I feel like I've

19:54

been missing out my entire life not

19:56

having a picnic. Although people are

19:58

walking by looking at me like this must

20:01

be some lost Amish boy. It's that

20:03

strange to have a picnic. It's sad

20:04

really. To be fair, it does feel kind of

20:06

strange having a picnic. Imagine riding

20:08

a horse to a nightclub.

20:11

That's the same level of stranges that

20:13

this feels. I have been dangerously

20:16

unpredictable lately, and I kind of love

20:19

it. I might even skinny dip in the pond

20:20

soon. But I think it's because I need to

20:22

rely on myself to create my own

20:25

stimulation rather than relying on an

20:27

algorithm to spoon feed it to me. Which

20:29

is why the past few days, I don't think

20:31

I felt this connected to the world in a

20:34

very long time. And if there's something

20:36

that I can learn from that, it's I used

20:38

to think that watching TV or being on my

20:41

phone was time spent, but it's actually

20:44

time taken. And when you remove those

20:47

from your life,

20:49

your days just open up completely. Like

20:51

this week has felt double the length. My

20:53

days feel twice as long, but in a good

20:55

way. And it's a trickle down effect.

20:58

When you feel good, you want to be

21:00

outside. You want to eat better. Like I

21:02

don't even think about going to

21:03

restaurants anymore. I just want to have

21:05

good quality whole foods. I feel less

21:07

stressed. My energy is great. My sleep

21:10

is great. So again, it's a domino effect

21:12

that starts up here by removing those

21:14

things out of your life and then

21:16

everything else kind of falls into place

21:17

after.

21:27

[music]

21:29

Yo, I actually enjoy reading. What the

21:32

heck? Each day that goes by, I'm finding

21:35

it easier and easier to pay full

21:37

attention to the book without having my

21:39

mind wander onto something else. Day

21:41

one, a bit tricky. Massive difference

21:44

today. Also, reading right before bed,

21:46

it makes you so drowsy that I'm falling

21:49

asleep instantly. It was really cool to

21:52

feel like I was reclaiming my attention

21:54

span, and it made me excited to see how

21:56

crazy the results were going to be by

21:57

the end of this week.

22:02

woke up this morning at 186.5 lbs, which

22:05

means I'm down nearly 2 lb. So, I'm

22:08

really struggling to keep the weight on.

22:10

Now, you would think that would mean

22:11

[music] worse pumps in the gym, but

22:13

nope. My pumps have been insane. I also

22:16

feel like I look leaner and a lot drier.

22:19

My energy throughout the day has been

22:20

very constant. My mood has been great.

22:22

I'm just feeling very happy. But the big

22:24

thing is, the big shocker is I have

22:26

severe elbow and knee tendinitis on my

22:29

left side. And those are both pretty

22:30

much gone. I didn't have to warm up

22:32

nearly as much for my leg day. Now, if

22:35

you looked at my soul on a graph from

22:36

the previous few days, it was looking

22:38

like this. It was just one big deep

22:40

dive. But now, I feel like I'm I'm on

22:42

the mend right now. Like the devil on my

22:44

shoulder is at its all-time weakest.

22:47

Today is when I really started to

22:48

thrive. All the withdrawals were leaving

22:50

the system. The [music] weights are

22:52

still moving without the help of

22:53

caffeine. Maybe it doesn't have the

22:54

secret anti-gravity properties I thought

22:56

it did. I think my CNS has been really

22:58

grateful for the break. I was craving a

23:01

smoothie after my workout. So, I got all

23:03

my components ready. I got a frozen

23:05

banana. I got some frozen berries. I got

23:09

my yogurt. And then I pulled this out of

23:10

the fridge. Cashew milk. Silk cashew

23:13

milk is like finding Jeffrey Dmer with a

23:16

Harvard Law degree on Tinder. Like, on

23:18

paper, he sounds great, but you're not

23:20

going to like how it ends for you. And

23:21

that's the same thing when you turn the

23:23

box and you look at the ingredients.

23:25

Like 3% of the ingredient list is cashew

23:28

milk, but a 100% of the marketing is

23:31

cashews. Like what the hell is gell

23:35

[music] gum? What's gan gum? What's

23:37

locust bean gum? I don't know what any

23:40

of those things are. So instead of not

23:41

making a smoothie, what I did was I went

23:44

the extra mile and I made my own

23:47

nutmilk. So I soaked almonds overnight,

23:50

then I blended them up with some water

23:52

and then I just milked the nut. I milked

23:54

it so good. I milt them dry

23:57

and it came out with this beautiful

23:59

concoction. It's still slightly warm.

24:03

It smells so fresh, too. Oh my god. And

24:05

way creamier. No more toxic nuts in this

24:08

house. No more.

24:12

Wow. That was half of it. That just that

24:14

took me literally overnight to do that.

24:15

Okay, smoothie taste test.

24:19

[snorts]

24:22

Tastes no different. But I am still

24:25

better than all of you who make

24:26

smoothies using silk cashew milk. I'm

24:28

really leaning into this natural way of

24:31

living. I might actually start my own

24:33

nutrition channel and just bash

24:34

everybody else who does not agree with

24:37

[music] my way of living.

24:41

I don't think that I've had this good of

24:43

sleep consistently

24:45

ever in my life actually. Like night one

24:47

I got the 90. Then I got a 91 on day

24:49

two. Then I got a 92 on day three. And

24:52

then last night I got an 86 which is

24:54

still optimal. Usually I'm used to like

24:57

good or fair sleep, but just back to

24:58

back to back optimal [music] sleep. You

25:01

feel it. It's really nice to wake up and

25:03

not feel like I need to go back to bed.

25:05

Usually I'm somebody who feels tired and

25:07

I can always use some more sleep. But

25:09

now I almost feel like a kid again. I

25:11

feel like I I just I get up and I'm

25:13

ready to take over the world. I'm

25:14

starting day five off with a little

25:15

visit to the farm to get some goodies

25:17

for the rest of the week. Look at that.

25:19

No plastic.

25:22

Poison. Poison. Poison.

25:26

Poison.

25:28

More poison.

25:30

There we go. That's dessert. Look how

25:34

beautiful this apple is. This can

25:36

replace a brownie any day. Any day.

25:39

Apple or brownie. I don't even know,

25:40

bro.

25:42

Jumbo orange yolk eggs. I've never heard

25:45

of them in my life, but what the heck?

25:47

I've been an egg fanatic lately, and

25:49

this is a nice little change.

25:54

Farmers market grocery haul.

25:58

We got our goodies. No plastic in sight.

26:00

They give you some cardboard, paper

26:02

bags. This is the new spot. I am making

26:05

some yogurt right now. I don't know if

26:06

you can tell. I'm I'm literally obsessed

26:08

with this yogurt. And I usually like to

26:10

microwave berries so they're warm and

26:12

gooey and I pour it on top. But I can't

26:14

do that because a microwave is poison.

26:17

So instead of microwaving my berries for

26:18

30 seconds.

26:29

I'm literally waiting 10 minutes for my

26:31

berries to stew on the stove. Do you

26:32

want to know what my head space is now?

26:34

If it's convenient, I assume it's just

26:36

trying to kill me. That's just [music]

26:38

how it is.

26:39

I also don't know if my taste buds are

26:42

just recovering from artificial

26:44

sweetener [music] or sugar trauma, but

26:46

every day that goes by, the fruit tastes

26:49

sweeter than ever. Nature's candy. I am

26:53

currently 5 days clean from social media

26:56

and the algorithm probably thinks I'm

26:57

dead. I wouldn't be surprised if I

26:59

logged back on and my targeted ads were

27:01

funeral homes and estate lawyers or

27:03

something like that. But the more I go

27:04

without it, the less I [music] miss it

27:07

and the more I actually wonder why I was

27:09

on it as much in the first place. To be

27:11

fair, it would have been a lot harder if

27:12

I was an iPad baby, but millennial.

27:14

[music]

27:14

Same actually also goes for food. When

27:16

I'm thinking about Coke Zeros, it kind

27:17

of grosses me out now when I drive by

27:19

certain restaurants that I used to think

27:21

were good. It I just think about it more

27:23

and I'm like, "Ew, that's kind of

27:24

gross." I pass by gas stations, I'm

27:26

like, "Those are mini Chernobyl." You

27:28

know, there's just there's just so much

27:29

processed junk in there. So, my whole

27:31

brain chemistry has shifted. Like, I'm a

27:34

whole new born again human. It's weird.

27:38

In only 5 days, what started as such a

27:41

drastic lifestyle change has already

27:43

become something I've started to adapt

27:44

to. My old habits are slowly fading, and

27:47

they might actually be gone for good.

28:02

This is probably the most excited I have

28:05

been all week. You would think a pizza

28:07

is being delivered to my house. I really

28:09

do wish you guys could smell this right

28:11

now.

28:13

This steak is 830

28:16

calories. And I'm not even worried about

28:17

it. Not at all. Not even slightly

28:19

worried about it.

28:24

[cough and clears throat]

28:30

Oh my god. Wow.

28:31

>> The momentum of day five carried over

28:33

into day six. I woke up with a beautiful

28:35

sleep score of 90. Spent some quality

28:37

family time with Katie and Boba.

28:42

And then [music] got some work done

28:44

which was better and more productive

28:45

than ever before. Not only that, but

28:48

I've had the best work life balance I've

28:49

had in years. [music] Doing things I

28:51

wouldn't normally do and just getting

28:52

out of the house is something that's

28:54

been amazing for me. I made a fresh

28:56

ground bison burger, one of the eggs

28:58

from the farm, and I wanted to make

28:59

fries on the side, but without the air

29:01

fryer. They're coming out of the oven

29:02

looking like they've had a little bit

29:04

too much whiskey, if you know what I'm

29:06

saying. So, we have the kiwi on the side

29:08

to replace [music]

29:09

the uh French fries. A burger without a

29:12

bun is like a hug without arms. It just

29:15

feels incomplete. I wanted to make an

29:18

allnatural bun, but I don't have a

29:20

freaking chemistry master's degree to do

29:22

that. Probably shouldn't even be having

29:23

bread anyways because caveman didn't eat

29:26

buns for food at least.

29:31

>> Oh my god,

29:33

the eggs so much better than

29:36

storebought.

29:36

>> The deeper I got into the week, the more

29:38

obsessed I became with avoiding every

29:40

possible poison. The problem was the

29:42

more I looked, the more I found, and it

29:44

quickly became overwhelming.

29:46

>> I'm pretty sure the char on meat is also

29:49

considered a poison.

29:51

I can't even keep up anymore. I've heard

29:53

when people take GLP1s, it eliminates

29:55

the food noise. It eliminates food

29:58

cravings. For me, eating like this has

30:00

given me the exact same effect. I'm the

30:03

type of person where food makes up like

30:05

90% of my brain. It's all I think about,

30:08

maybe even 100% of my brain, but now

30:10

it's practically nothing at [music] all.

30:12

It just doesn't interest me. I don't

30:14

have cravings for anything. And it's

30:16

probably my favorite thing that I've

30:19

experienced so far in this challenge or

30:21

whatever you want to call it. It just

30:23

feels good. I used to snack a lot. Snack

30:26

after dinner. None of that anymore. So,

30:28

I just feel like my natural GLP levels

30:31

are [music] rising. And you totally can

30:34

increase the natural GLP1 levels in your

30:36

body. For me, I think it's from the

30:37

drastic increase in healthy fats and the

30:39

complete elimination of [music]

30:41

processed foods.

30:42

>> You guys want to see my cool little

30:43

discovery? Banana ice cream. Great way

30:47

to use leftover bananas. All you do is

30:49

just blitz up frozen bananas and voila,

30:52

you got ice cream. Felt good this

30:55

morning. Tastes great right now. Full

30:57

service nanner.

31:01

It is kind of crazy how good simple

31:03

things taste when your tongue isn't

31:05

waterboarded with chemicals. This is

31:07

literally just one [music] ingredient.

31:08

Replacing my ice cream with banana.

31:12

I feel primal. [music] Wait a minute. Is

31:13

midday sauna poison?

31:16

I think it is.

31:21

Last day, then it's back to hot dog

31:22

stuffed crusts from Pizza Hut. I'm just

31:25

kidding. But for real though, it feels

31:26

like I'm in rehab about to be released

31:28

into the real world. And honestly, like

31:31

I'm actually happy it's the last day

31:32

because I don't even know what to do

31:33

with myself anymore because I've done

31:35

more this week than I probably do in an

31:37

entire year. But I don't want to be

31:39

someone tomorrow that if someone offers

31:41

me a Coke Zero, I get like arrested for

31:43

attempted murder or something. So, I

31:44

think the best thing [music] to do is

31:46

some exposure therapy. Starting at the

31:48

gas station, I went in and surrounded

31:50

myself with my biggest [music] triggers.

31:52

Energy drinks, Coke Zero, protein bars,

31:55

which honestly at that price turned me

31:56

off them completely. Like I said, last

31:58

week there's [music] no way I would have

32:00

left here without something. But now,

32:02

>> not going to lie, not as hard as I

32:04

thought. I kind of want my meat and eggs

32:05

now.

32:06

>> Next was the food court. I surrounded

32:07

myself with highly palatable processed

32:09

foods that looked amazing.

32:11

>> I'm just sitting in the middle of the

32:13

food court. Every smell is fighting for

32:15

my attention right now. It's like

32:16

visiting the zoo. It's fun to look at,

32:19

but you probably shouldn't climb into

32:21

the enclosure.

32:22

>> Don't get me wrong, things looked really

32:23

good, but still, it wasn't enough for me

32:25

to crack. But maybe my next stop will.

32:28

>> I'm raw dogging a coffee shop right now.

32:33

This one's hard. Imagine taking an

32:36

alcoholic to Oktoberfest. Same thing.

>> Being surrounded [music] by these lovely

32:41

smelling beans was brutal. I know when

32:44

this week is done, cutting down on my

32:45

caffeine will definitely be difficult.

32:47

>> All right, I'm going to go before I get

32:48

kicked out for being weird.

32:49

>> Overall, this exercise was a success.

32:51

[music] From there, the day looked as it

32:53

normally would. I had a high quality

32:54

meal of pineapple, salmon, and some bone

32:56

broth. [music] Then, I had a killer leg

32:58

workout. I'm still progressing every

33:00

session. And then an amazing dinner. I

33:02

think the fries were actually pretty

33:03

good this time. It is crazy that I'm

33:06

free [music] tomorrow. And doing this

33:08

video has kept me so accountable. When

33:10

it's over, I do not know how I'm going

33:13

to keep [music] this up, but at least my

33:15

CNS enjoyed a week of not being treated

33:17

like a speed bag, and I'm very excited

33:19

for my brain scan tomorrow. The results

33:21

from this [music] week were absolutely

33:23

crazy. I stepped on the scale at 186.2

33:27

lb, meaning that this week I dropped

33:29

[music] a little over 2 lb. A lot of

33:31

water, some inflammation, and some fat.

33:34

I look a little leaner and I noticed my

33:35

skin has [music] a bit more of a glow.

33:37

Speaking of skin, this before and after

33:39

of my face is insane. My skin is way

33:43

smoother. There's virtually no red and I

33:45

definitely lost a ton of bloat in the

33:46

face. Now, before some of you think it's

33:48

makeup, here's proof it's not. There's

33:50

just a lot more glow and radiance to my

33:52

face. It [music] could be a tan that I

33:54

very much needed. Now, it was time to

33:56

see if my brain made any improvements

33:58

from a week of elimination. It was

34:01

pretty cool to see that we actually made

34:02

some improvements. We didn't completely

34:04

eliminate the redness, but we definitely

34:06

[music] reduced it in just one week.

34:08

More than anything, this was a

34:09

muchneeded reset for my body. Maybe we

34:12

all need to step away every once in a

34:14

while and reconnect with the things that

34:15

actually matter. Before you know it, it

34:18

[music] starts to feel like these

34:18

poisons never had as much control as you

34:21

thought.

34:21

>> Well, let's [singing] not let go.

34:24

>> Yeah, I'm down.
