Five days, Alaska, and three things we

0:03

came here for. Salmon, trout, and brown

0:05

bears. A few of my best friends from

0:07

high school and I flew all the way to

0:09

Alaska. And this trip turned into one

0:11

we'll be talking about for the rest of

0:12

our lives. From landing on remote waters

0:14

in a float plane to chasing beautiful

0:17

and tasty sockeye salmon in a crystal

0:19

clear river, every single day brought

0:21

something different. But the fishing

0:23

isn't the only reason this place is

0:24

unforgettable. Brown bears were

0:26

everywhere. We watched them swimming

0:28

across rivers, feeding on the side of

0:30

the road, and at times they got a whole

0:32

lot closer than we expected. Throughout

0:34

the week, we're catching salmon,

0:36

targeting beautiful trout, hiking into a

0:38

remote alpine lake, cooking fresh

0:40

salmon, and soaking in some of the most

0:42

incredible scenery I've ever

0:44

experienced. This is 5 days in Alaska,

0:46

and it might just be the greatest

0:48

fishing trip I've ever been on. All

0:50

right, guys. Got the truck loaded down.

0:52

We have one small issue. It's actually

0:53

not a small issue, it's a huge issue. I

0:56

can't find my passport and I just have a

0:58

stateisssued ID. Last night I started

1:00

looking for my passport and I don't know

1:02

what I've done with it. I have no idea.

1:03

So, apparently there's some way TSA can

1:06

still let me through through some like

1:07

background check thing. I I don't know.

1:10

We're going to go try it. Um I've got to

1:12

drive like 3 hours to Cincinnati and I'm

1:14

the one driving. So, all my buddies

1:16

we're about to go meet up now. We're

1:17

going to throw all their stuff in here

1:18

and take off. But I may not even get to

1:20

go. So,

1:22

okay. So, these guys will probably be a

1:24

little shy at first. I don't know. I'm a

1:26

little nervous to have them on camera.

1:27

These are my high school buddies. It's

1:28

like the first trip we've really all

1:30

taken together since high school. I

1:32

guess it's been over 10 years. And heck,

1:35

I may not even get to go on a trip with

1:36

them. But y'all might learn something.

1:38

You may not need an ID to actually fly.

1:41

What's up?

1:42

>> Appreciate you giving us a ride.

1:43

>> Oh yeah, be able to go.

1:46

>> What's up, boys?

1:52

>> We made it.

1:53

not seem like a 4-hour drive. No,

1:58

that's just how it's going to roll.

2:00

>> About to find out if I get on the plane

2:01

or not. All right, so before I check my

2:03

bag, I'm going to go to TSA and see if

2:04

they'll let me through. Wish me luck,

2:06

boys.

2:06

>> Let's go. Good luck. Make it happen.

2:08

Let's go.

2:08

>> All right, good to go.

2:15

That good.

2:16

>> Very good.

2:20

About to board the plane.

2:34

just landed in Minneapolis.

2:39

>> Thank you.

2:42

>> Last flight to Alaska.

2:47

>> Almost there.

2:51

All right, we made it to Anchorage.

2:53

Waiting on the rest of the guys to get

2:54

off the plane. Hopefully they made it.

2:56

Check out the moose.

3:02

That's a 10T three bear.

3:07

What did you order?

3:09

>> Chai tea latte.

3:10

>> Chai tea latte. Let Brandon order. Two

3:13

pumps vanilla.

3:13

>> Sweet green cocoa vanilla. Like

3:15

>> 5,000 g of sugar. Got her. All

3:20

right, we're going to grab our pistols

3:21

and then we can get on our road.

3:28

>> This is the whip.

3:38

It's cold. Look at this.

3:42

>> Wake up, Dylan.

3:46

>> All right, guys. So, we made it to the

3:48

lodge where we're going to be fishing

3:49

out of. We are in Kenai, Alaska. Right,

3:52

>> Cooper Landing Landing.

3:53

>> Sorry, Cooper Landing. Let me know where

3:54

we're at. We just woke up. Dylan was

3:56

sleeping in the floor.

3:57

>> Nice and cozy. We're going to grab some

3:59

waiters now.

4:00

>> Whatever size uh shoe you need, grab and

4:03

then grab some of these back here. Grab

4:05

me a medium.

4:06

>> Medium. All right. Perfect.

4:07

>> They fit.

4:08

>> Oh, yeah. Looking good.

4:10

>> Got our waiters. We're going straight to

4:12

the river. Straight to the river.

4:16

There's our boy. There's old Jackie.

4:18

>> All right. That's one of the boats we're

4:19

taking out. That's a Willies boat.

4:25

>> Let's fish. Let's do it.

4:29

>> He's already got the hater blockers on.

4:31

All right, Cody. What are we going to be

4:32

fishing for today?

4:33

>> Sai Dylan, come show me which what's

4:36

what here on the

4:37

>> I think this might be your largemouth

4:39

bass right here.

4:42

>> What's up, man?

4:43

>> How you doing, bud? Brandon Winky.

4:45

>> Brandon, nice to meet you. Dylan, nice

4:47

to meet you.

4:51

>> All right,

4:52

>> we're gonna tell them all the wrong

4:53

names, but Dylan just can't. He can't do

4:55

it. I'm sorry. I told you all the name.

4:57

Kirk Price.

4:58

>> Kirk Price.

5:01

>> There's a Yeah, there's a red pull tab

5:03

there that's going to inflate you. Okay.

5:05

>> Okay. Don't confuse the buckle and the

5:07

pull tab there.

5:08

>> All right. We're going to be in two

5:09

separate boats. So, what are we going to

5:11

be fishing for this morning? Oh, we are

5:13

going to start with some sakai salmon.

5:19

It's

5:19

>> pretty cold this morning. At least while

5:21

we're moving.

5:29

>> Did we make it? So, we're going to be

5:30

trolling first. How long you think we're

5:33

going to do that? Just until the sun

5:34

gets high.

5:35

>> We'll give it a couple hours.

5:36

>> Couple hours of trolling.

5:37

>> But the big thing is do not set the

5:39

hook. Okay.

5:40

>> Yeah. So, they're going to get pinned.

5:42

Bump. You just let that thing bite. I'm

5:45

going be in gear and out of gear. We're

5:46

just going to be working these

5:48

downstream. So, they're going to go bump

5:51

bump. That's not a bite. It's just going

5:52

to be wobb.

5:54

When it goes, it's going to get pinned.

5:56

Bump bump bump. We might hit a couple

5:58

little trout or something in here. Um,

6:01

>> what's this lure called?

6:03

>> That's just a mag lib. A quick fish some

6:05

people might call it. There's a dolly. I

6:08

know it's a little salmon right here.

6:10

>> We're already seeing them. So, we

6:11

landed, hopped in our van, drove

6:14

straight to the water, and started

6:15

fishing. Pretty crazy.

6:16

>> Right to it.

6:16

>> Right to it. Not messing around. And now

6:18

we're hanging out with Jack. If we don't

6:20

catch any fish, it'll be Jack's fault.

6:21

>> Always.

6:23

>> If we catch a monster, it'll be my

6:24

doing.

6:25

>> That's right.

6:26

>> I'm going to switch it up. No luck

6:27

trolling.

6:30

>> So, we going to get over there on the

6:31

bank.

6:31

>> Yeah,

6:32

>> man. If it's my boat, I just rammed it

6:34

in there. So, we're going to get on the

6:36

bank over there. We're going to do a

6:38

little bit different technique that I've

6:40

never done before. There's bald eagles

6:42

everywhere. Look at that one sitting on

6:43

a limb down there. Earlier, one flew by

6:46

us and had a fish in its mouth.

6:50

>> All right. All we got is a weight and a

6:52

bear hook on the end. All right. All

6:54

we're doing when we want line, we just

6:55

grab and pull from the reel. We're going

6:57

to use the weight carry itself over.

6:59

It's going to land right in front of us.

7:01

You're going to feel it pump

7:04

hard right through right back in.

7:12

>> You got one. Oh,

7:15

dude. That was awesome.

7:16

>> Now, this fish is not hooked correctly.

7:18

We can see because it's

7:21

doing that.

7:22

>> And so, when that happens, we're just

7:23

going to hold the reel and it's going to

7:25

pop off.

7:25

>> Okay.

7:26

>> So, that fish was snagged. We have to

7:28

get them in the mouth. All right.

7:29

>> All right.

7:33

Bump. Bump. Sweet.

7:36

>> You got another one. Dang.

7:38

>> That one felt.

7:40

>> Ah.

7:42

>> All right. They're coming by really

7:43

close. I can see them here. You flip.

7:46

Make sure you pull all the way to the

7:48

bank.

7:50

>> Was there one on

7:52

>> Horrible?

7:53

>> You're all right.

7:54

>> All right.

7:54

>> Sweep.

7:56

>> Sweep harder than that though, right?

7:58

>> Sweep harder than that.

7:58

>> Okay. So when you flip, find the weight.

8:02

One, two, three. Hard sweep. There you

8:06

go. Low hard sweep all the way back.

8:08

That's it. There you go. Land a little

8:11

downstream. A little more downstream.

8:13

>> One, two, three.

8:15

>> We got one here.

8:17

>> We'll slip by you.

8:23

>> There we go.

8:24

>> Good net. Good job, Hunter. That's like

8:26

his first cast. All right, so hunter's

8:28

on the board. We're all just lined up

8:29

down the bank. Slowed down since, but

8:31

apparently they kind of come in waves,

8:33

so you never know. It's pretty crazy.

8:35

Definitely a different style of fishing.

8:36

We just got a sinker on a swivel and a

8:38

clip going down to a snail knot and a

8:41

hook. We're just trying to grab him in

8:42

the mouth. Here we go.

8:49

>> Hunter's got another one. Slide into the

8:51

bank a little.

8:55

Dude, this guy, they aren't big.

8:57

Hunter's got one on again. Number three.

9:00

This guy's cheating here. Just take it

9:01

nice and easy. Maybe I can hook one

9:03

here. We can't We can't keep them unless

9:05

they're hooked in the mouth. And that

9:06

one is right in the tail.

9:09

>> Come on, Hunter. Got to be a little bit

9:11

more ethical.

9:22

>> Got one on.

9:23

>> Keep reeling. Easy.

9:25

>> Okay,

9:25

>> LIFT STRAIGHT.

9:27

>> THERE WE GO. OH, MAN. I just lost one,

9:30

too. Didn't even get it on video. It

9:32

happened so quick. Yeah, perfect. Hooked

9:34

right in the mouth. And that is a sckeye

9:37

salmon. We're going to beat it. Easy

9:41

enough. All right, we got three on the

9:42

stringer. He's in the first two. Hunter

9:44

caught.

9:51

>> There you go. Nice. Whoa. Whoa.

9:54

Hunter's got one on. I'm going to keep

9:56

casting cuz they're running right now.

10:01

>> Tomorrow I'll let you go, John.

10:04

Should be able.

10:05

>> There we go.

10:17

>> Oh, son.

10:19

>> No, no, no, no, NO. THAT'S OH, IT GOT

10:21

OFF. YOU SPOKEN into existence. Ah, just

10:25

lost a good one, man. Okay, we're going

10:28

to make a move. I think we're going to

10:29

hop in the boat, go downstream a little

10:31

bit, try another one. Kind of slow down,

10:33

but we still got some dinner for

10:34

tonight. Yeah, I think that biggest one.

10:36

Oh, there's mine.

10:37

>> Yeah.

10:39

It ain't.

10:41

Yeah, I got a big one, didn't I?

10:42

>> No, I think I got the biggest one. Good

10:44

work, Cody. Good work, man. Good job,

10:47

man.

10:48

>> Participation counts. Pretty good. You

10:50

want one? I can touch my food. I ain't

10:51

touching fish.

10:54

>> So, the other guys are down here. Oh,

10:55

son. They got a stringer full. They've

10:57

been smacking them down here being quiet

10:59

about it.

10:59

>> I don't know. They go,

11:01

>> do they?

11:03

>> Y'all been smacking them. Did you catch

11:05

one?

11:06

>> No way.

11:07

>> Biggest fish I've ever caught in my

11:08

life.

11:09

>> I'm going to get in between y'all. All

11:11

right, we'll see if we can catch one.

11:13

That's a new spot. They've been wearing

11:14

them out down here, man. I can tell I

11:16

got somebody else's rod. This just feels

11:17

different after you've been casting the

11:19

same rod forever. going on.

11:28

Let me see it. Let me see it. Oh, son.

11:29

That's a healthy one right there. That's

11:31

big, dude. Hunter can't be stopped. This

11:34

guy's the best sockeye fisherman I've

11:35

ever been around. I'm just I'm just glad

11:37

I'm on the board, unlike some people.

11:39

It's starting to get competitive. Got

11:41

one on. It's found. Dang. Found up.

11:45

They're still in here.

11:48

Hooked it low. Got to be in the mouth.

11:52

Patrick's got one on.

11:56

Tell me when to keep it low.

12:02

>> Yeah. Finally bag one.

12:07

>> Good job, Pat. They're in here right

12:09

now, boys. That's the damage we got. How

12:12

many we catch?

12:13

>> Five. Is there more down there?

12:14

>> There's more down there. All right. So,

12:16

next we're going to do some trout

12:17

fishing. But first, we got to get the

12:18

sock eye blade out. Have some big

12:21

fililelets on them. The biggest one here

12:23

on the stringer, it's got more of the

12:25

hooked upper. The bigger they get, the

12:28

more they develop that

12:29

>> you get when you caught that same fish

12:31

in 2 weeks. You have a big green head.

12:35

>> Really? So, these these turn red within

12:37

two weeks.

12:38

>> Uh, 3 weeks, let's call it.

12:40

>> These fish will look entirely different.

12:42

So, that's crazy.

12:48

Man, that's some beautiful meat. Oh,

12:51

son. That's as fresh as it gets. Right

12:53

on the banks of the Kenai.

13:02

>> The seagulls are swarming.

13:05

>> More and more

13:06

>> out here. They don't have that option.

13:17

>> I think the plan is tonight to eat

13:18

those.

13:18

>> There's definitely more.

13:19

>> We ain't going to eat all of them.

13:20

>> I don't I'm not sure who that is.

13:24

>> Okay. I know

13:26

>> how much line you say to get out.

13:27

>> Keep going. Just leave that bottom of

13:28

the water. Keep bite back in. Excellent.

13:31

Very nice. Make sure it's just roll.

13:33

That's a fish. Yep.

13:34

>> No, that's bottom.

13:35

>> That's all right. Just on the bottom

13:36

though, man. That was right back in

13:38

though. That's a good set.

13:42

>> That's awesome,

13:43

>> Brandon. That's a fish.

13:44

>> Yeah.

13:44

>> Okay, giant. Let him run. Hand off the

13:46

reel. Off. Let it go. All right, you

13:48

boys reel in. Reel reel. Now, get ready

13:51

for him to take off. Get ready to get

13:52

that hand off the reel.

13:54

>> Okay, get off. There you go. Let it run.

13:59

>> He's coming back. He's coming back,

14:00

dude.

14:02

>> Nice and easy. Nice one.

14:04

>> As he comes, you're going to take it

14:06

back. He ain't ready.

14:07

>> Oh,

14:08

>> it's not a small fish. You got to keep

14:10

that thing tight.

14:11

>> All right. Slow and steady. You're just

14:13

going to take another sit through your

14:14

hands. Slow. Up. Up. Up. Up. Up. Up. Up.

14:18

Up. Up. Up. Not quite. Oh. Back down.

14:21

>> I got off.

14:24

>> Oh my gosh.

14:27

>> That's all right. So, and that's hard.

14:30

If he goes the other way, right down.

14:33

>> That's all right.

14:34

>> Well done, brother.

14:35

>> Yeah, that was fun.

14:37

>> Is that your biggest rainbow ever?

14:39

>> For sure.

14:40

>> And then Nice. Good fish.

14:42

>> Another one.

14:43

>> Got a boy.

14:48

>> Right there.

14:48

>> Let's go.

14:50

>> Spin that rod. There you go. Let him go.

14:52

DROP THE ROD TIP.

14:53

>> OH,

14:58

all right. That's him. Yep. Strip. Strip

15:00

again. Strip again. Get tight. I'm

15:02

bending that rod. All right,

15:03

>> Brandon, pick it up. Fire again.

15:04

>> Let me come to this side.

15:05

>> Yep.

15:07

>> Big lift. Big lip.

15:10

>> There we go.

15:11

>> Sweet. Can I get a pick with it real

15:13

quick?

15:13

>> Absolutely perfect.

15:14

>> Look at that beautiful bag.

15:16

>> There you go.

15:17

>> Well done. That's what we want.

15:18

>> Keep him from hitting the boat.

15:19

>> That's a hook set.

15:21

>> You got one.

15:22

>> Get tight.

15:23

>> That's Cody.

15:24

>> We got to catch a fish, Cody.

15:26

>> Long cast right in here. There you go.

15:28

Let that run.

15:31

>> There he is.

15:31

>> Eat him.

15:32

>> Get on him.

15:35

>> Dylan's hooked up.

15:36

>> You called that one, Jack.

15:41

>> So, if we're drifting and we set to the

15:43

right, we're pulling everything out of

15:44

his mouth. Right. So, just straight to

15:46

your face. Knock yourself in the face

15:48

every time.

15:50

>> Oh, Jesus.

15:53

>> I said, he's still there. the board fish

15:56

on the fly already.

15:58

>> First one. You went from the biggest to

16:00

the smallest. There we go.

16:03

>> Or hold that angle.

16:05

>> Let's double up here.

16:07

>> Oh, that's a nice trout. I just saw it

16:08

again. It's just been one after another.

16:10

I can barely get my line in the water.

16:12

Y'all setting a hook.

16:13

>> Slowly, slowly, slowly, SLOWLY.

16:17

>> LET'S GO.

16:19

>> There's nothing better than that.

16:20

>> They're perfect. Perfect.

16:21

>> All right, look at me.

16:22

>> Head towards the camera. The fish. The

16:24

fish is head towards the camera.

16:25

>> Turn it.

16:28

>> There he is.

16:30

>> We're good. We're going to leave that

16:31

you guys in. Pressure to the left.

16:34

>> Oh, he's got one hooked right here.

16:35

>> Oh, no.

16:37

>> There you go. Double.

16:38

>> Oh, I lost him. Another fish in the

16:41

boat.

16:41

>> Hey, sir.

16:42

>> We should have had a double, but I was

16:44

watching Pat and watching the dudes on

16:46

the bank catch one.

16:50

>> Fish.

16:50

>> Yep.

16:51

>> Tripped. More pressure. That's it.

16:54

That's the pressure we want.

16:57

>> Sweet. Just caught my first dolly.

16:59

Sweet. That's a small one.

17:01

>> Yeah.

17:01

>> Yep. Still

17:02

>> good to let him swim.

17:03

>> YEAH.

17:06

>> OH,

17:06

>> that is exciting.

17:09

>> Go.

17:11

>> There you go.

17:15

>> That is a big boy. Let him swim right

17:17

out your hand.

17:20

>> Beautiful fish. What?

17:22

>> Yeah.

17:23

>> Drop it. Drop it. Drop the pressure.

17:25

There you go.

17:30

>> Good work.

17:31

>> There you go.

17:35

>> Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

17:37

>> On that.

17:42

>> It's a nice bag.

17:42

>> Yeah, that's not bad.

17:43

>> It's not a bad hole.

17:45

>> It was fun. Yeah. You have a good time?

17:47

>> Yeah. Where do we got to take Isaka?

17:49

Let's take him to uh Salmon Run Lodge.

17:51

>> Feel that. How much do you think that

17:53

weighs? That's got to be at least 20 lb.

17:55

>> Yes,

17:58

>> all right. Going to grab something to

17:59

eat. What's to eat, Cody?

18:01

>> We're going to go down into town.

18:04

There's uh pizza place down there. Some

18:07

Mexican restaurants.

18:08

>> What up?

18:10

>> Let's go eat some food. The outfit is

18:13

just It's awesome, man.

18:15

>> What about him, brother?

18:15

>> I like it.

18:17

>> This is going bang right here.

18:19

pizza.

18:23

>> All right, so we just stopped on the

18:24

side of the road cuz there's a bunch of

18:25

people pulled off here and it looks like

18:27

they're looking at something. So, we're

18:29

going to walk back here and see what it

18:30

is.

18:32

>> So, I'm going to put a quick pause on

18:33

Alaska and I want to thank Tokovas for

18:35

sponsoring today's video. If you've

18:37

watched my videos for any amount of

18:38

time, you know I'm hard on my boots.

18:40

Whether I'm hiking mountains in Alaska,

18:43

chasing down bears, out here at my farm

18:45

working, I need something that's built

18:47

to last and has all day comfort. And

18:49

that's why I wear Tokova's boots. One

18:51

thing that surprised me is how

18:52

comfortable they are straight out of the

18:53

box. Y'all see me wear them when I'm

18:55

working at the pond, filling up feeders

18:57

on my property like we were today,

18:58

putting out trail cameras, and I

19:00

occasionally do clean them up a little

19:02

bit. That way, they stay looking good. I

19:03

mean, they're just an all-around boot. I

19:04

wear them to church. They're rugged

19:06

enough for everything I do in the

19:07

outdoors and nice enough to wear when I

19:09

go out to dinner and that's why they're

19:11

my go-to boots. If you've never checked

19:12

out the Kovas, I definitely recommend

19:14

giving them a look. I've got three or

19:16

four pairs now, guys, and I'm telling

19:18

you, they are my go-to boots. You're not

19:20

going to be disappointed. You can click

19:21

the link in the description of this

19:23

video or scan the QR code on the screen

19:25

right now to get your new favorite pair

19:28

of boots. And once again, I just want to

19:29

say thank you to Tacovas for sponsoring

19:31

this video. They help make all these

19:33

videos you see possible.

19:42

See it?

19:44

>> Yeah, let's keep it.

19:45

>> All right, going to get the fish squared

19:47

away.

19:51

>> All right, we're looking for our cabin.

19:52

What's our number, Cody?

19:53

>> Riverfront. That's it right there.

19:55

>> That's the name. Oh, we're Riverfront.

19:57

>> Oh, dude, this place is sweet.

19:59

>> Yeah, it's a really nice place.

20:01

>> You're going to have so much fun here.

20:03

We made it and we're so tired. So, we

20:06

got to see a brown bear on the side of

20:08

the road. We got the meat dropped off.

20:09

We got groceries. Now, we're going to go

20:11

check out our room.

20:12

>> We're moving in the right direction.

20:17

>> We're staying at the riverfront cabin.

20:22

>> I want the upstairs.

20:23

>> No,

20:26

>> this is me

20:27

>> right here. I think I'm find this.

20:35

We're finally at our cabin on the river

20:37

where we're going to be staying. Super

20:39

nice. Looks like they got a fire pit and

20:40

they got a dock down there. I wish there

20:42

weren't so many trees here. You could

20:43

actually see the river. We're staying

20:44

right on it which is pretty cool. It's

20:46

5:00 here and uh we are exhausted just

20:49

to roll in and start fishing all day.

20:51

We're just going to hang out here for

20:52

the evening. probably go to bed

20:54

eventually and then we're getting up at

20:56

like 1:30 1:45 a.m. and heading to some

21:00

other river and going to try to catch

21:02

some more sakai.

21:07

>> Good morning. What we doing this

21:09

morning, honey?

21:10

>> Going fishing, man.

21:11

>> River, baby.

21:11

>> Dylan's already got his glasses on.

21:14

Let's roll. Let's go. Angle. Looks like

21:16

we're going to be in a drift boat this

21:18

morning. A little bit different than

21:19

yesterday. It's 3:30 in the morning.

21:21

Parking lot's full. There's people

21:23

everywhere. Dylan's well rested. Go

21:25

catch some salmon, boys. All right,

21:26

guys. This is John. I haven't introduced

21:28

him yet.

21:28

>> Hi. It's early. So, Jack, that was our

21:32

guide yesterday.

21:34

>> Is in the other drift boat with the

21:36

other guys. Today, I got Hunter and

21:39

Dylan with me.

21:42

Let's roll.

21:46

All right. Looks like we made it to the

21:47

bank. We're going to be fishing. This

21:48

river has a lot more people on it than

21:50

what we experienced yesterday. So

21:52

everybody's trying to get out and catch

21:54

the sckeye. I don't think their clocks

21:55

work the same here in Alaska. Like we

21:57

got up at 1:45

21:59

and there was people probably been on

22:01

the river all night fishing.

22:05

>> If Ron doesn't catch one today, he's

22:06

going to swim across the river.

22:19

Got one on.

22:21

He's foul hooked. That's why he felt

22:24

like that.

22:24

>> I didn't I didn't I never hooked one

22:26

like that yesterday. All right. On the

22:28

board. Just couldn't keep that one cuz I

22:29

didn't hook him right.

22:30

>> Got one on.

22:34

>> Pat on the board. That's two already.

22:37

Come on, Dylan. Get us one. We're off to

22:39

a good start. Is that Brandon's got one

22:41

on down there? Let's go, Brandon. Get in

22:44

the net.

22:45

>> I got I got to get to fishing. They're

22:46

running.

22:47

>> YEAH, THEY GOT IT.

22:49

WOO! All right, that's three. You got

22:52

one, Cody?

22:54

Get ready. They're coming. Brandon just

22:56

caught another one down there. Cody's

22:57

hooked up and Hunter, they're running

23:00

right now.

23:05

>> All right, lift up.

23:08

>> Oh, good net.

23:10

>> That's a good one.

23:11

>> Nice. That is a pretty fish. Well,

23:13

that's a good start.

23:14

>> Another one on.

23:18

>> Sweet. Smacking them now, son.

23:21

>> It's heating up.

23:26

>> Got another one on.

23:31

>> Smoking them, son. Four total. Had to

23:33

return one.

23:37

>> Got another one on.

23:41

coming at you.

23:44

>> Yeah. Nice mouth hook.

23:46

>> Yeah,

23:46

>> man. Can you miss him and go right back

23:48

to that spot and then get him

23:50

>> cuz I swear I thought

23:51

>> you can.

23:51

>> I definitely did it there.

23:52

>> You like hit him and then he kind of

23:54

slide back.

23:54

>> Yeah.

23:55

>> And I went right back to the same spot

23:56

and got him the second time. Thought I

23:58

failed him. Wearing him out. All right.

24:00

Well, we got the snack on.

24:03

Little peanut butter and jelly on the

24:05

bank.

24:07

Hey,

24:07

>> I got it. I got it.

24:12

Brandon's got one on. Front tip down,

24:14

Brandon. Woo! Son.

24:19

All right. Ready? Oh, he didn't like

24:22

that.

24:24

Yes,

24:27

that's a nice one. Say a on three. A

24:31

>> All right. Cody said he spotted fish.

24:33

We're getting back in the action.

24:39

Watch that rod right there.

24:45

And some rocks. That is a nice one. Good

24:48

job, John. Get it out there a little

24:49

bit.

24:55

Oh. Oh,

24:58

>> good work. Brandon's got another one on.

25:02

Get the net. I'm going to keep casting.

25:10

There we go.

25:12

Finally.

25:14

That is literally the first one I've

25:16

touched here.

25:18

>> Stay where you are. Reel on the bender

25:20

rod.

25:20

>> Reel, reel, reel.

25:24

Woo!

25:25

>> Finally got Brandon out of the way for

25:26

two seconds. They got by him. Oh,

25:29

perfect. Right in the mouth.

25:33

Here we go. Dylan down. Down. Down.

25:38

Walk back.

25:43

>> In the net. In the net. It's been a good

25:47

day, boys. How many keepers we got? 20.

25:50

It's pretty good.

25:51

>> It's been fun. Hold them up, boys.

25:53

>> Yeah. Pat.

25:54

>> All right. Going to get these cleaned

25:56

up.

26:03

Oh, we got it.

26:05

Y, boys.

26:08

>> What' you think? It's fun. Had a good

26:09

time. Got some good fish. So, instead of

26:11

leaving the scraps right here where

26:13

they'll where the birds will eat a lot

26:14

of them, but where other people are

26:16

fishing and stuff and drawing in stuff

26:18

like bears, they wait till they get in

26:21

the middle of the water and then dump

26:22

them.

26:23

>> Take a picture with this.

26:28

There's bald eagles everywhere.

26:30

How many you think we've seen?

26:32

>> A lot. Too many to count, man. It's

26:34

going to get really

26:35

>> 30.

26:36

>> 20 in the past. Did a half a mile.

26:38

>> That was a bald eagle eating a fish.

26:41

Probably one somebody's cleaned and

26:42

threw the scraps out.

26:48

Good work, Pat.

26:49

>> Yes, sir. Good day.

26:51

>> What a day, man.

26:53

>> We're back. Let's roll, boys. Biscuits

26:55

and gravy.

26:56

>> Biscuits and gravy.

27:02

>> Nice to meet y'all.

27:03

>> Serious. Appreciate

27:04

>> it. Thank you. kind of early and then uh

27:20

11:00

27:24

>> weigh in the fish.

27:25

>> What do we have yesterday? 36 and 12, I

27:28

think.

27:28

>> Oh, we're over. We're over.

27:29

>> Look at that.

27:30

>> 44.9.

27:34

>> Looking good.

27:36

out there.

27:47

>> What are you taking?

27:50

>> Good morning, guys. All right, so I

27:52

guess this is day four of the trip. Not

27:54

much went on yesterday after we got

27:55

home. We just kind of hung out in the

27:56

living room. This morning, we're

27:58

supposed to go fishing via float plan,

28:00

but I don't know what's going to happen.

28:01

You can see up there there's fog really

28:03

low and it's raining and that's probably

28:05

not a good combination for flying.

28:07

Regardless, we're in Alaska staying on

28:09

the river. I'm sure there's something we

28:10

can get into.

28:12

>> Hunter's getting some coffee.

28:13

>> Yes, sir. Where do you say we're going?

28:14

>> Mackie Lake

28:16

>> if we can. Ready to go. Yeah, hopefully.

28:18

Cold plate service and got a briefing

28:19

this morning. Told us it was going to

28:21

clear up around 9 or 10:00, but as you

28:23

can see, there's usually a mountain

28:24

right there.

28:25

>> So, it's just white.

28:26

>> Yeah, it's just white

28:27

>> and it ain't snow.

28:28

>> They told us it was going to be 300 ft

28:29

scattered. That looks like 300 ft

28:31

overcast to me.

28:32

>> Cody's an air traffic controller. He was

28:33

an air traffic controller here. That's

28:35

why we're here. So, if anybody knows,

28:36

>> we'll see what happens.

28:37

>> This guy.

28:40

>> All right. Everybody's got waiters. Here

28:42

you go, buddy.

28:43

>> Put it in the ignition, man. I got a

28:44

coffee. Thanks.

28:46

>> Here we go. I'll even start for you.

28:47

>> Yeah. Loading up.

28:49

>> Here we go.

28:55

>> Three bears.

28:56

>> It's three bears, gents.

28:58

Got to grab some food for today. Three

29:00

Bears Alaska. They got any rotisseries?

29:03

>> Yeah. Macaroni salad. They got wraps,

29:05

too. We need silverware,

29:07

>> dude. There they are. There's the otter.

29:09

Jet A, baby. Let's go.

29:10

>> Can I park in front of this? I'll just

29:11

go over here.

29:12

>> Oh, what a beautiful day to be found.

29:14

>> Yeah, dude. Volcanoes fly.

29:15

>> This is going to be awesome.

29:16

>> Here we go. I hope we don't need

29:17

waiters.

29:20

>> Let's roll.

29:23

>> Getting on the plane.

29:28

Are you?

29:29

>> Yep.

29:39

>> Everybody get buckled up.

29:40

>> Yep. Go, boys.

29:43

>> Go. Go.

30:10

I think we're about to land.

30:12

Hold on.

30:34

That was smooth.

30:37

Look at the flow.

30:41

That was smooth. That was smooth.

30:45

Right on up.

30:49

Getting our gear on a boat,

31:00

>> dude. They're catching them. Oh,

31:02

someone's fighting a fish up there. Oh,

31:04

yeah. We can see a bear up here.

31:08

This looks like the spot to be fishing.

31:09

There's a bear up here asleep, but there

31:11

just too many people here. We're going

31:12

to go to another spot. You would think

31:14

taking a float plane in

31:15

>> in the middle of nowhere.

31:17

>> You wouldn't run into people.

31:19

>> And here we are,

31:20

>> but it's packed full.

31:22

>> I mean, it looks like the Fourth of July

31:31

had a fish stuck in a prop. He said,

31:36

>> "Jump back there. Try to get on video."

31:37

You know, there's a ton of fish when

31:39

you're getting them stuck in your prop.

31:40

I can see where all these dirt spots

31:42

have come up.

31:43

>> Yeah, water change. That's fish probably

31:45

moving and stirring up the bottom.

31:47

>> Got you a spin rod back, Brandon. That's

31:49

why it's all

31:50

>> back in his element, man.

31:51

>> What we're going to do is cast it out.

31:54

Cover ground. Right. And then once it's

31:55

out there, I'm going to reel slow with

31:57

my tip lower to the water. Any bump I

32:00

feel along the way, set the hook firmly

32:02

straight up.

32:03

>> Let's get him, Hunter. First cast, no

32:04

pressure. Put one in.

32:08

>> Set it.

32:10

It's bad luck to catch one of the first

32:12

cast in your life. Brandon's ready.

32:15

>> All right, Brandon. Pressure's on.

32:18

>> Cody's out. Patrick, let's see it.

32:23

>> Cody.

32:26

>> Oh yeah.

32:30

>> Yeah. This is what we're here for.

32:34

>> Hunter's on. Rip and drag. THERE WE GO.

32:38

OH, give it a rip. Go ahead, buddy.

32:41

>> So, there's that many fish. We're just

32:43

>> Yeah. fishing with a bare hook trying to

32:45

run into them.

32:47

>> That in fact was not the cast.

32:49

Hopefully, this redo.

32:54

>> Yep. There it is. There it is.

32:58

>> Right.

32:59

>> Man, you can feel it again. Right.

33:01

>> There's a double.

33:03

>> He's going to have his work cut out for

33:05

him netting all these fish.

33:07

suicide.

33:08

>> Yeah.

33:10

>> So, that's a male. These are the same.

33:11

These are Sakai salmon what we we've

33:13

been catching on this trip. But this

33:14

one's got the hook nose. They're turning

33:16

pink. So, they're not good to eat,

33:17

right?

33:18

>> Correct. Yeah. See how the belly is

33:19

getting kind of orange and got the black

33:21

down there? When you go if you were to

33:22

fillet this, it would be like almost

33:24

bleached white. Not good to eat.

33:25

>> Not good.

33:30

>> Yep.

33:33

>> Double up. Double up. Triple up.

33:37

in the mouth.

33:38

>> The mouth is way too red.

33:44

>> Double

33:50

said, "Come on."

33:54

>> Yeah.

33:55

>> 14 or 15. 16.

34:00

>> There's 16, baby.

34:04

>> So, man, we're struggling to get them in

34:05

a boat. Yeah. Avoid that.

34:08

>> Could this be the one? Spit it.

34:14

>> Yep. There he is.

34:16

>> OH, YEAH.

34:17

>> OH, DOUBLE.

34:19

>> Coming up to you. That's a good size

34:21

one.

34:22

>> Oh, I want a pick with that one.

34:24

>> Going back in. Yep.

34:26

>> All right, Patrick. Waiting on you.

34:28

>> Trying, buddy.

34:31

>> Been smacking them.

34:33

>> Oh, man. Y'all want any sushi?

34:36

>> There you go, Pat.

34:37

>> That's a red one.

34:39

>> Oh, yeah.

34:41

>> There you go.

34:43

>> Oh my gosh.

34:44

>> That's awesome.

34:45

>> That is a sweet one. All right, back to

34:47

the spicy crab roll.

34:48

>> 45.

34:49

>> And uh

34:51

>> you see with the salmon on my hands, it

34:52

kind of gives it a little flavor.

34:56

>> What we got there?

34:57

>> There you go, Cody.

34:59

>> Yeah.

35:01

>> Get out the way, Cody.

35:04

Get him man.

35:11

>> Beauty.

35:14

>> Yeah.

35:15

>> Yep.

35:15

>> Yeah.

35:16

>> Yep.

35:16

>> This side of the boat.

35:17

>> They run towards you. You got to be got

35:19

to keep some pressure. Yeah.

35:25

>> That's a right.

35:26

>> Nice fish. Sweet.

35:27

>> We're going to move spots real quick.

35:36

Brandon's digging into the Jolly Rancher

35:37

ropes. What do you got over there,

35:39

Hunter?

35:39

>> Corn nuts.

35:40

>> Corn nuts.

35:41

>> Got some jerky, Dylan. Boy,

35:43

>> going back in this little cut. You can

35:44

see the ones that are back here.

35:46

>> Are these spawned out or spawning?

35:48

>> Not spawning yet cuz they need gravel.

35:50

They're going to keep going up.

35:51

>> Okay, they're super red.

35:56

>> All right, Morgan, will you count down

35:58

for us? Okay. Five, four, three, two,

36:02

one.

36:03

>> That was early.

36:04

>> No, it was not. Hunter crossed me.

36:06

Hunter cross.

36:08

>> Turmoil.

36:12

>> NO,

36:14

>> IT'S GOT TO HEY, HE'S GOT TO BE It's got

36:15

to be in the net.

36:19

>> Oh, no. Let me get OUT OF THE WAY.

36:21

>> Tried to

36:24

hunter wins. I was doing air hack. No,

36:27

that was a good attempt, dude, to go

36:29

over.

36:32

>> All right, we're starting now.

36:40

>> Here we go.

36:41

>> 26.

36:42

>> There it is, Brandon.

36:44

>> Get him, man.

36:47

>> Yeah.

36:48

>> Double up.

36:49

>> Get him, Otter.

36:50

>> Get in the boat.

36:51

>> You got double.

36:52

>> We got double trouble.

36:55

The double net.

36:57

>> This guy's a pro.

36:58

>> Break open the summer sausage.

37:01

>> You want a piece?

37:02

>> 7.4.

37:03

>> M. It is good. That's

37:06

>> how it is. Wolverine creek. Not too hot.

37:09

>> There you go.

37:16

>> Oh,

37:19

>> we might have a keeper.

37:20

>> Dude, we might have a keeper.

37:23

No.

37:24

>> Close.

37:25

>> Bang. In the net. Here we go, Pat. Put

37:28

it in the boat. There we go.

37:31

>> Got him.

37:33

>> No way. We got three on.

37:38

>> There's another one.

37:39

>> All three.

37:40

>> That would be 39.

37:42

>> Good job, Pat. Get him in. Boom.

37:46

>> Dude, they're a good one. Let's go.

37:48

>> They're in the pocket.

37:50

>> That's a nice fish,

37:51

>> man. That is a nice one.

37:53

>> Yes. Yes.

37:55

>> Hold that one up.

37:56

>> Yeah. You got to get a pig of that one.

37:57

>> Oh, that's a pretty one.

38:00

Hold him up. Got him. Big hook jaw.

38:04

Brandon's got one on

38:07

this fish. Yeah.

38:09

>> B

38:12

double up.

38:12

>> Come on. Let's get that triple freaking

38:15

hard. Oh, this is a fish, boy.

38:18

Doubled up. Oh, it's angler back here.

38:22

>> Brandon's fighting the fish of his life.

38:24

>> This is a big fish.

38:25

>> Really? Oh, son.

38:28

>> Oh, you dirty dog.

38:31

>> There you go. That is a pig.

38:34

>> Good work.

38:35

>> Get him, Pat.

38:37

>> Trying to get him back out here.

38:39

>> Get him, Hunter. Grab him. Get him. Get

38:40

him.

38:41

>> Yes.

38:42

>> That's a pretty one. Hold him up, man.

38:46

>> Another one.

38:46

>> Oh gosh, he popped it.

38:47

>> He's in the line. Oh my god,

38:49

>> dude. This guy is doing something

38:52

different. I cannot get hooked up. I

38:54

ain't even getting hit.

38:56

>> That's awesome. Right.

38:57

>> We got a keeper.

38:58

>> Good job, Brandon.

38:59

>> Wow.

39:00

>> Throw right in that cut. I just saw one

39:01

back there.

39:04

>> Oh,

39:06

they're there.

39:08

There he is.

39:09

>> Good job, honey. There's There's quite a

39:11

few in there. I can see them.

39:16

>> 49.

39:17

>> All right. This next one's 50.

39:26

>> Yep.

39:26

>> Uh-huh.

39:36

>> 56 fish on the day. Good work, boys.

39:38

We're going to go fry one up now.

39:46

Great day on the water, baby. Oh my god.

39:52

>> He's under the water right now.

39:55

>> There he is. Oh my god. God.

40:16

Is there anything?

40:20

No.

40:42

You're like one.

41:08

It just splashed water on me.

41:11

>> That thing was I mean you could have

41:12

reached out and smacked it on a nut.

41:13

>> It splashed water back on the head.

41:16

>> Got splashed by a brown bear. That was

41:18

awesome. We got two cubs in the tree

41:20

right here. This bear's just diving for

41:22

sock.

41:25

>> She's off to the left just a little bit.

41:26

>> That was amazing.

41:28

>> She's back over there on the bank. Don't

41:30

get much cooler than that.

41:32

Time to cook some up.

41:39

Got the Weber. Okay, we'll kind of see.

41:42

Yeah, black and Saskatchewan rub. This

41:44

is my favorite on salmon. And then from

41:46

there, I got smokehouse maple. It's a

41:49

hot honey jalapeno. Smells good. I

41:51

haven't tried it, though. Let's try that

41:53

one in your favorite.

41:54

>> I agree. Let's do the hot and your

41:56

favorite.

41:56

>> I'm kind of curious to see what it

41:57

tastes like. I just hadn't done it yet.

41:59

Last two days we said we're going to

42:00

cook and we haven't. So, making up for

42:02

it right now. I'm doing it on the boat.

42:03

Thanks to Brandon. He got the only

42:04

keeper. About 10 minutes. Yes. Eating it

42:07

up.

42:08

>> It's going to smell good shortly.

42:09

>> Oh yeah.

42:10

>> Looking good. Smells

42:13

legit. Go ahead, Dylan. Try it out.

42:15

>> Hot black first.

42:17

>> Tell us how it is. Give us a rating.

42:22

>> A little warm, dude. Very good.

42:24

>> The blacken one is good.

42:26

>> It's so good.

42:26

>> It's good. and fry it. And that blacken

42:29

is phenomenal.

42:29

>> Make like a poke bowl. So good. It's

42:32

really good.

42:33

>> The blacken that's just a trigger brand

42:36

seasoning, too. So it's

42:39

>> Here she comes.

42:40

>> She already

42:54

>> here comes the rain. Heading back to the

42:56

plane and gonna hop on it.

43:01

What a day. Good angling, boys.

43:04

>> Good angling.

43:09

>> Here we go.

43:28

Wow, it's crazy. Flat over a glacier.

43:33

Woo.

43:36

You all right? I

43:54

>> was awesome.

43:55

>> Yeah.

44:00

>> Picked up a hat. That was a ton of fun.

44:06

Good morning, guys. So, we got back from

44:08

fishing yesterday and uh guys, we're

44:10

just crashing when we get home. The time

44:12

change has messed with us hard. 4 hours

44:15

behind what we normally are. And then

44:17

the day before, we got up at 1:00 a.m.

44:18

to go fishing. We're out on the water

44:20

like 3 something, but as soon as we get

44:22

back, we're just going to sleep and uh

44:24

taking advantage of any normal sleep we

44:26

can get right now. But, just wanted to

44:28

show y'all where we're staying. Our

44:29

house is up there. And uh they got this

44:32

sweet dock right here you can walk out

44:33

on, go out on the water. And of course,

44:35

you can see behind me there, the views

44:37

are crazy. We're supposed to be halibet

44:38

fishing this morning. That was like one

44:40

of the big things I wanted to do and I

44:42

don't know it's going to happen because

44:43

it's windy, it's raining, and the

44:45

water's probably going to be too rough

44:46

for us to pull it off. I don't know for

44:48

sure. Find out shortly. The sckeye

44:50

salmon we had yesterday on the boat was

44:51

delicious. Like that's real salmon right

44:54

there. Like to get into a little bit

44:55

more of that tonight. All right, let's

44:57

roll. Got the van loaded down. There you

44:59

go, Dylan. Ready to roll, baby. Where

45:01

are we heading to, Cody?

45:02

>> We are heading to Seward.

45:04

>> Setting up a 45 for left hand downwind.

45:10

>> All right, we made it to Seward, Alaska.

45:12

Guys, it's 524 a gallon here. Woo! We're

45:16

going to the Alaska Sea Life Center. No,

45:19

the halibit got cancelled today. So,

45:21

we're going to get out of the rain and

45:22

go check out what we got going on in

45:23

here.

45:32

Oh my gosh, that water is cold. What's

45:33

the temperature of the water?

45:35

>> Um, the water stays between 40 and 50°

45:37

all year round. Uh, we pump it in from

45:39

the bay.

45:41

>> Oh, dude, look at

45:43

right there.

45:44

That is sweet.

45:47

It's still going.

46:12

We got flounder. Pacific cod. Voila.

46:15

There's the flounder. The orange one's a

46:17

perch.

46:18

>> Pacific Ocean perch.

46:19

>> Oh yeah. Good job, Brandon.

46:21

>> Surprised you knew that. So the seals

46:23

and the sea lions, I guess they're here

46:24

because there was there's something

46:26

wrong with them. They were born with a

46:27

problem or something like that and they

46:28

bring them here. So they're not like out

46:29

capturing these and then bringing them

46:32

in just for us to look at. That's what

46:33

we should be catching today. But Cody

46:35

canceled the trip.

46:36

>> Thanks.

46:37

>> Now we get to look at them in a tank.

46:39

We're supposed to be eating them

46:40

tonight. That sign back there says they

46:41

weigh up to 2500 lb.

46:44

That looks like that must be the female

46:48

>> or it's a younger male. Want

46:52

to go grab some food now. Eating at the

46:54

Sea Salt Alaskan Grill and Bar. What we

46:57

got?

46:59

>> We got some shrimp and what' you say it

47:01

was, Cody? Dirty fries.

47:07

Thank you.

47:09

>> We got some for lunch. Really good.

47:13

>> I don't know how much we need. Do we

47:14

need 10 lbs?

47:15

>> We're going to run into the Safeway,

47:16

grab some more stuff for our dinner

47:18

tonight. We're going to fry up some

47:19

sock. They going to get some crab legs.

47:22

All right. The grocery store didn't have

47:24

any. We're going to try another little

47:25

seafood market here. Captain Jack's fish

47:28

processing. Oh, you can bring your own

47:30

fish here.

47:35

>> So, we've been catching sock salmon.

47:38

That's $23 a pound. It's big money fish.

47:40

>> If you want candies,

47:41

>> we're going to get 10 lbs of snow crab.

47:43

A little bit more affordable. They They

47:45

ain't kings, but they'll do.

47:47

>> Y'all going to get ice cream?

47:49

Russian River.

47:50

>> Russian River fishing time.

47:52

>> Thank you.

47:53

>> Let's go catch some fish.

47:54

>> Got all the rods rigged up. We're going

47:56

unguided this time. Hey, man.

47:58

>> We're headed to the Russian River. What

47:59

am I?

48:00

>> Okay. Well, Cody Cody's been there

48:01

before. Bringing out the big guns for

48:03

this trip. It's going to get dangerous

48:04

in bear country. Don't know if y'all can

48:06

see that or not, but I got my 10 mm. So,

48:08

we ain't been wearing guns this whole

48:09

video. Apparently, it's not been

48:11

necessary, but where we're going to now,

48:12

we're going to the Russian River. Is

48:14

that correct? And there's bears. There

48:16

are some bears in here due to the amount

48:18

of salmon that are in the water.

48:19

>> There's signs up a guy got attacked on

48:21

the stairs on your way down into where

48:23

you fish. I guess Rain and I are going

48:25

with the spin reels. Going back to our

48:26

roots.

48:27

>> Dylan. All right.

48:29

>> See, look. There's the river. Oh,

48:31

they're down there fishing. We got a

48:33

bear up here on the river already.

48:39

We ain't been in water like this yet.

48:41

It's been raining today, too. So, the

48:43

water should be up. So, I didn't get the

48:45

bear on video, but it was somewhere

48:46

right here on this bank. We were walking

48:47

through the woods. We're all just

48:48

spreading out here on the river. Dylan's

48:50

got a sckeye set up on there, and the

48:52

rest of us are going to trout fish for a

48:53

little bit. Might switch over to Sakai,

48:54

though. This is the Russian River.

49:04

Hunter's on the board. Trout on the

49:06

bead. Just retied him. He got hung up.

49:08

So, we know it works. I'll hold your rod

49:10

for you, buddy. You need a pair of

49:11

pliers? Nice little rainbow it looks

49:13

like. Nice job. All right, Brandon's

49:16

hooked up on the net. Oh, in the net.

49:22

Dylan's got a big ONE UP IN THE NET.

49:25

YES,

49:28

that's a big bow. That's a big rainbow.

49:31

Oh, the colors on it are beautiful, too.

49:34

That's a stud.

49:36

Can I get a pick?

49:39

There he goes.

49:41

Dude, right here.

49:44

>> That was awesome. I've switched to sock

49:46

eye fishing, but we're just kind of

49:47

waiting to spot some. We haven't spotted

49:49

any yet, so I've just been kind of

49:50

hanging back watching the boys trout

49:52

fish.

49:58

Rain's got one on, son. Pressure's all

50:01

on Hunter to get in the net. Lift it up.

50:05

He put it in the net. Good job, man.

50:08

Right here.

50:10

Good net job, Hunter.

50:12

>> The pressure is always on the net, man.

50:15

BEAUTY.

50:20

This is where the Russian River meets

50:23

the Kenai River. There's people down

50:25

here flossing, which is what we've been

50:27

doing to catch a sckeye. I mean, I bet

50:29

you there's 50 or more people all the

50:31

way down the bank right here. And check

50:32

this out. I ain't never seen this in any

50:34

other place but Alaska. These are

50:36

cleaning stations down there. So after

50:38

you get done catching fish, you can take

50:40

them right there and clean them all out.

50:42

It's pretty convenient. Pour in the rain

50:45

again.

50:47

We spotted some saw eyes, but they got

50:50

away. All right, that was fun. We're

50:52

going to go grab some dinner. Actually

50:54

make some dinner. Got some salmon, snow

50:57

crab legs. Should be good.

51:00

It's

51:00

>> all right. Dylan got

51:02

>> dealing with big fish for the day. Going

51:05

into the cabin. They're going to go get

51:07

some butter and some other stuff at the

51:08

gas station. We're going to get in here

51:10

and start preparing. Dylan got smoked.

51:12

Let me see that next. Smoked by

51:14

mosquito.

51:15

>> Be mosquito.

51:19

>> A lot of the salmon you get in the store

51:21

has dye in it to make it look like that.

51:23

That right there, folks, is all natural.

51:26

You got to thaw it out. Unfortunately,

51:27

it is froze, but it's going to be fresh

51:29

still yet. Couple days old. Not as fresh

51:31

as it was yesterday on the boat.

51:37

37.

51:43

>> Looking good. Looking good. Got the

51:45

salmon fried up. More crab legs rolling.

51:48

Doing good, Brandon.

51:49

>> Thank you, Brandon.

51:54

>> Good morning, guys. Getting the van

51:56

loaded up. We're not done yet, though.

51:58

But we got to be out of the cabin by

52:00

10:00 a.m. Loaded up in the van. We got

52:02

some rods. All spin reels. Where are we

52:05

going, Dylan?

52:05

>> Frater Lake.

52:06

>> Nope. Crescent Lake. We're going to

52:08

Crescent Lake. It's a six milei hike in.

52:10

There's gring in there. We're going to

52:12

take some jigs. See if we can catch

52:14

some. It's going to be fun. Full speed

52:15

ahead to Crater Lake.

52:22

>> Making a quick stop at a knife store.

52:24

>> All the tattoos. He's got meaty meaty

52:27

hands. When he first started making

52:28

knives.

52:28

>> Yeah, I uh I hung out with him a few

52:30

times when I was up. Show it off,

52:31

hunter. What'd you get?

52:33

>> Half Usyk, half doll sheep horn.

52:36

>> Half Usyk.

52:37

>> Yeah, I think it's warrus.

52:38

>> You're not kidding.

52:39

>> Pretty sure.

52:40

>> Doll sheep and walrus. That's a crazy

52:42

combination. Let's go fish.

52:46

>> Uh, that front pouch 6 and 1/2 miles.

52:49

Patrick's got on boat shoes. Brandon's

52:51

got on boat shoes. Hunter's got on

52:53

sneakers. And he's

52:55

>> going to be thirsty.

52:56

>> He's carrying a a jug of water.

53:00

Come on,

53:00

>> Cody. You said the last time you're in

53:01

here, you saw a bear.

53:02

>> Yeah. Yeah, we

53:03

>> brown bear or black bear.

53:04

>> Saw a brown bear.

53:05

>> Brown bear.

53:06

>> Dog sniff it out up about 20 yards up

53:08

ahead of us.

53:10

>> We got Dylan in the front.

53:11

>> He's got a Glock on him. I got mine

53:14

secured. I wear mine a little bit lower

53:16

cuz a lot of times I got binos and stuff

53:17

on. So, I got this one rigged up low.

53:19

But I actually like carrying it in that

53:21

area even without a chest rig on.

53:25

Dylan's hiding in the bushes. He's going

53:27

to jump out and scare him. He's right

53:29

there. Hey, I'm going to film it. I'm

53:31

going to film it. Dylan went around

53:32

there poop. He said hopefully we don't

53:34

interrupt him.

53:44

Y'all

53:45

have been got

53:47

that good stuff, Dylan. They jumped

53:49

hard.

53:59

It's been raining for about 10 minutes

54:01

now. I was trying to get back in here

54:03

quick. That way I'd have more time to

54:04

fish. But I'm going have to stop and put

54:06

my rain jacket on cuz it's coming down.

54:12

Blue skies up ahead. 1.2 mi in. Gained

54:15

to 814 ft. 34 minutes. There's a bear

54:19

track. And look at the claws. I've never

54:21

seen a track like that. It's not a very

54:24

big bear. I mean, our hands about the

54:26

same size, but the claws are, you know,

54:29

you can see them there. Good thing we

54:31

got Dylan.

54:36

So, the goal of this trip is to reach

54:38

the furthest lake, which is 6 and 1/2

54:40

miles. I don't know if it's going to

54:41

happen or not. The pace we're going and

54:43

me and the guys don't have the best

54:45

attire on for this type of hike either,

54:47

and it's raining. We're still going to

54:49

give it our best. So, there's another

54:50

lake up here that's at the 2 and 1/2

54:52

mile mark. We may just stop and fish it.

54:55

This vegetation in here is so thick.

54:59

Look at this.

55:03

Up until you get to that mountain up

55:05

there. It's just a wall of whatever

55:08

these are.

55:12

There it is. Still got a good ways to go

55:14

to go, but at least we can see it now.

55:17

Wow.

55:21

This is

55:24

not where I want to run into a bear. You

55:27

can't see anything in here. This is

55:30

definitely sketchy.

55:32

No way.

55:34

There is a canoe here. There's a canoe.

55:38

Oh, son. Well, I'm getting out there.

55:46

This canoe seen better days.

55:49

I can hear the rest of the guys coming.

55:51

Hey, take the first left. I'm going to

55:55

wait. I don't want to take it out there

55:56

by myself cuz the wind is strong. I'll

55:58

just end up taking off that direction. I

56:01

can hear them coming, but I don't know

56:02

if they're going to take this path that

56:03

I took. So, I think they passed me up

56:05

cuz they should be here by now. The rain

56:07

is really, really set in. As you can

56:10

see, I'm going to get in the canoe

56:14

and go floating. See if I can find them.

56:16

This is so cool. Hike all the way back

56:17

in here. Find a canoe waiting on you.

56:19

Got life vest. Might as well throw it on

56:21

if it's here. I'm out here by myself and

56:23

it's freezing cold. If I got in the

56:24

water, it probably wouldn't be good.

56:29

Check out that paddle.

56:32

I really need to get with the guys cuz

56:33

this is not the lure that I want. Like a

56:35

little nad rig paddle tail thingy.

56:42

I'm thinking if they pass me, they

56:44

should be down here on the right. I'm

56:45

sure there's another trail that pops out

56:46

maybe around these trees. There they

56:48

are. They don't see me yet.

56:53

Ohoy.

56:55

Bet you didn't expect me to come around

56:56

a turn with this bad boy. Had to bargain

56:58

for it.

56:59

>> Got one on.

57:02

>> First bow.

57:07

>> Pouring miserable rain. It was worth the

57:10

hype.

57:12

>> Freezing cold. Beautiful fish.

57:16

Last day heroics. We're all just

57:18

standing here on the bank. Last day

57:20

heroics. Pulled off the miracle. Pulled

57:22

it off. You said you even literally

57:23

threw that cast. You said going to

57:24

launch out there and hope for a miracle.

57:31

Fish really aren't biting. Any bites,

57:34

Hunter?

57:35

>> No. My feet are cold.

57:37

>> He's He's got to be freezing.

57:40

>> Hey, I got the fish fever bad, man. Pat,

57:42

you throw in the towel? No, I'm letting

57:44

Cody riv it for a minute.

57:46

>> T on a rooster.

57:47

>> Putting on a rooster tail,

57:48

>> man. Minus the tail. A little salmon egg

57:51

pattern. Maybe something like that. I

57:53

doubt these uh these natives up here

57:55

have ever saw a salmon egg before in

57:57

their life. But Hunter and I are going

57:58

to get in the canoe. Just a couple dudes

58:01

angling.

58:03

We're out here.

58:06

Look at the loon. It just dove down. Oh,

58:09

that's sweet. Just went right under us.

58:12

There he is coming back right.

58:15

>> Oh yeah, you can see him down there.

58:17

Look at him go. He's got to be diving

58:20

for trout. Here comes the sun. It's not

58:22

the best canoe, but it's it's better

58:23

than the one we brought.

58:25

>> Cody said the canoe's sagging. Taking on

58:27

some damage back here next to Hunter.

58:29

Cody just hooked up. We're going to go

58:31

back. There we go. On what color? Pink

58:34

and white.

58:37

That's good.

58:39

>> Oh yeah.

58:39

>> Beautiful rainbow.

58:41

caught it on the pink and white D2 jig.

58:45

>> What?

58:46

>> He was just sitting out there, too.

58:47

>> Little bit of adversity.

58:48

>> He wasn't even

58:49

>> that came out.

58:50

>> All right, so we grabbed some glasses.

58:52

Hunter's going to be on the ore. I'm

58:53

going to see if we can catch some more

58:55

trout. Got my glasses on now. So, this

58:57

water is ultra clear and this leader I'm

59:00

using is pretty heavy. I wish it was a

59:02

about a 4 lb 2 lb leader just because

59:05

the water is ultra clear. The sun's out.

59:08

We're feeling good now.

59:12

Got one on.

59:15

Oh, it spit it.

59:19

Roll it.

59:22

Whoa.

59:24

Rainbow.

59:26

Going to turn him back.

59:29

Oh yeah.

59:32

Landed in the boat.

59:34

>> That thing is beautiful. Let's get him

59:36

back. Oh, he's ready to go back. I think

59:39

we're going to end it on that one. The

59:40

guys are hauling for us and ready to go.

59:42

Thank you for paddling me.

59:43

>> Oh yeah, man. That was awesome.

59:45

>> That was great.

59:47

I mean, look at this out here.

59:57

Back to the jungle with Hunter. Dude,

59:59

the mosquitoes are about to be out bad.

1:00:01

Just after we started drying off, we got

1:00:02

to push through this vegetation and get

1:00:04

soaked. What up, boys?

1:00:06

>> Dead. Hunter, did

1:00:07

>> you push him, man? He fell. Let's go,

1:00:10

boys. Got some pizza calling our name.

1:00:13

>> Everywhere.

1:00:16

>> Come on, man. Dude, you're dumping that

1:00:17

all over.

1:00:20

>> Hurry up, G. LUMIS.

1:00:23

>> We're getting destroyed by mosquitoes.

1:00:25

It quit raining. It's getting muggy.

1:00:27

Let's go get some pizza. All right, so

1:00:29

we made it home safe and sound. Had a

1:00:31

great time with my buddies. We didn't

1:00:32

end up making it to the lake that we

1:00:34

were trying to get to there at the very

1:00:35

end. We stopped at a lake short just

1:00:37

because it started pouring the rain on

1:00:39

us and no one really felt like doing

1:00:40

another four miles in. That was going to

1:00:42

be a 12 mile round trip, so we cut it

1:00:44

short at like the 2 and 1 half mile

1:00:45

mark. Still caught some rainbows though,

1:00:47

but overall the trip was a blast and it

1:00:49

was just good being with my buddies

1:00:50

catching up again. Hope y'all enjoyed

1:00:52

that one. See you in the next one.
