familiar. Nana appears on stage. The

anticipation had reached its peak. A beautiful

Naturally, she

begins to sing,

completely off-key, with her shoulders draped over her shoulders. During the intermission,

people think she's

making a fool of herself, but in the

next act, Nana appears naked, leaving the

entire male audience stunned. At the

end, they applaud and shout her name.

She feels triumphant; the show has

been a success. She wakes up the next

day surprised to be alone in her bed.

Nana owes three months' rent, and

creditors regularly come to

collect, but her biggest worry isn't

that, but her son, Luisette, who

is staying with the nanny in a village on the

outskirts of town. She just wants

the money to move him to

her aunt's house, where she can see him whenever she

wants. A woman visits her and

tells her she has a man willing to

pay her a good amount. Nana agrees to be

with him, and with the money, she arranges for

her son to move to her aunt's house

that same day. Even though Zoe kicked

all of Nana's visitors out,

a young man who was

in the kitchen had slipped away. He was sitting there

patiently, holding a bouquet of

flowers for her. His name was Jorge, and

Nana allowed him to visit her.

The following day, a luncheon was planned

at Nana's house, the

main setting being the small parlor of her

apartment. Wealthy men and

aristocrats arrived with some women. Amidst

the heat, the drinks, and the abundant

food, the guests soon began to

lose their composure. Nana could no longer

recognize her own house and was also disappointed

by the absence of Count Mufat. At

dawn, she agreed to go for a drink with the

change into and hides him in her room.

Count Mufat arrives unexpectedly as well;

his obsession with Nana had grown. He

crazed and tried to possess her, but Nana

rejects him since Steiner was at the

house and could enter at any moment.

Nana returns to her room and for a

week lives a honeymoon with Jorge.

On the sixth day, a lot of visitors and

some hunting trips put an end to the

idyll. In addition, the theater owner

sent her a letter... Reproached, she

decides to return to her work and the right

path by sleeping with old men. Thus, she agrees

to sleep with Mufat, though without any

pleasure. Three months later, Nana and Mufat

are in the room.

She tells him she doesn't want to

sleep with him yet, but the Count looks at her naked,

approaches, and embraces her to possess her. Nana

screams and refuses. He takes advantage of the moment

to blurt out that his wife was cheating on him

with another man. Mufat leaves dejected, searching for

his wife in the rain. He

waits in the place Nana had told him about,

but after a while, he realizes the

absurdity of the situation and returns. He arrives

at Nana's house, and soon after,

Steiner arrives as well. Nana screams hysterically at them. They

go up to their room and see the actor

Fontaine in their bed. Mufat insults her. Her

indignation is unbearable. Nana decides to

leave everything. She sells what she can and goes to

live with Fontaine in a modest house.

The first few months are a dream, but

the illusion doesn't last long. Fontaine begins

to treat her like garbage. He also spends

the money they had saved, and Nana... She

had to prostitute herself and leave again, this time

on the street, just so her lover

would have to eat. In the end, Fontaine threw her out,

and Nana sought refuge with her aunt.

Meanwhile, she returned to the theater to

act in the play "The Little Duchess." Mufat

introduced himself and told her he had built a

palace for her and was willing to

grant her any wish. After

dismissing her money, she told him she wanted

the role of the Good Lady in the play.

Mufat saw this as impossible, but Nana

planted a kiss on his lips, and he went to

convince the theater owner. Mufat

offered a large sum of money to the theater, which

was struggling, and Nana

got her role. However, the premiere

was a complete failure. One day, Jorge visited her in

desperation and begged her to

come back, but Nana wasn't interested.

Jorge's brother, Philip, also went to see her,

determined to put an end to their

relationship. Nevertheless, he became very

friendly with Nana. Both brothers

visited her frequently. One night, Mufat

arrived silently at the house and, upon entering

the room, surprised Nana with

Jorge. Although his betrayal devastated him, he... He

had no choice but to accept

her excuses because he felt incapable of

leaving her. After this, Nana began to

squander all the money and soon

began to suffer hardships. She asked

Philip for loans that turned

into a huge debt and the reason why

Philip ended up in jail. Nana,

desperate for money, was going to

resort to an old prostitute, but at

that moment Jorge arrived and proposed

marriage. Nana acted indifferent, and

Jorge committed suicide in front of her. After

this, Mufat kept promising that he would do

everything for her, but his ruin was

imminent. Nana despised him. Finally, she

abandoned him and went on a trip. Everyone

had a theory about where she had

gone. Nana became

something of a legend. One night in July, she

returned and immediately went to see her

son, who had contracted smallpox.

The boy died the next day. Nana

also had smallpox and settled in the

grand hotel where she died three days later.

Her putrefying body remained alone in the

room with the shouts of

a crowd in the background due to the start of the
