ARTJOG 2026 Tour | Tema Generatio, Karya Viral & Kontroversi Pembukaannya

Hello, how are you? Right now I'm in front of the Jogja National Museum. Behind me there is the Art Jog exhibition.

What are the works that are shown? Let's see together. This year, Art Jog raised the theme of Ars Longa Generatio, which invites us to see how the experience, value, memories, and wounds inherited from one generation to the next. To enter this exhibition, visitors must pay a ticket of Rp 80,000.

Once we enter, we will be greeted directly by Robby Dwi Antono's work, which is a commissioned artist with a work entitled Generatio Siclus Vitae. If you know Robby's works, we will usually find large-eyed children figures that look like logos but contain many layers of emotion.

In this project, Robby uses the symbols of water, water eyes, and water eyes. Water is described as a source of life as well as a symbol of memory that flows from one generation to the next. Water eyes are no longer read as a symbol of sadness, but as a trace of human experience.

Tears are proof that someone has lost love, hope, or injury that was then inherited to the next generation. ArtJock 2026 was a discussion because of the emergence of protests from a number of artists during the opening of the project related to the involvement of Didit Foundation as a sponsor.

One of the interesting works is the work of Hana Logi Semata. This installation is inspired by the story of a family in Wonogiri who had been arrested for being accused of communism in 1965. This work is a space that resembles a prison that visitors can enter, so we can feel the atmosphere of being in a prison.

Overall, ArtJoc 2026 not only presents interesting works visually, but also invites us to think about history, identity, and heritage that we receive or that we will leave behind.
