India's Most HAUNTED Fort | Reality of Bhangarh | Dhruv Rathee
This fort is situated in the Arawali mountains of Rajasthan. The main gate of which has a warning written in clear words. It says that it is forbidden to enter here after sunset. This warning was not given by a random security guard or a scared villager. Rather, it was given by the Archaeological Survey of India. But one night, three friends ignore this warning and make a plan to enter the fort.
How they would enter the castle, safe from the guards, and spend the night there. They had also heard this saying, which is heard by everyone around them since childhood. That whoever has stayed in this castle for the night, has never returned alive. But the three of them thought that these were just stories. Fear was only in their minds. And that's why they moved on. The sun sets in the evening.
In the darkness of the night, the three of them step inside the fort. They had a torch. But the darkness was so deep, so heavy, that the torch's light was only a few feet away. Beyond that, only black silence.
Suddenly, a shock strikes. A friend slipped and fell down in an old, dry well. He was badly injured. The rest of the friends, in a hurry, took him out of the well and put him in a car. They immediately decide to take him to the hospital. But before the car reaches the hospital, there is an accident on the road. The three friends died on the spot.
Locals believe that it was not an accident. It was the fort's curse. They stayed in the fort at night and broke the rules. And the price of breaking the rules was taken by the fort.
Namaskar friends, this is the story of Bhaangad Fort. Every year, lakhs of tourists come here. But no one stops after sunset. Locals say that at night, there are sounds of women crying, screaming and screaming. Nobody goes at night. It's scary, but what to do? I can't see, only sounds come.
But the real story of Bhangarh is much more interesting than the story told. The biggest secret of this fort is not what you see at night. But what is hidden in history. The story of Bhangarh begins in 1573. The king of Aamir, Bhagwandas, decided to build a new city for his youngest son, Madhav Singh.
Madhav Singh was the younger brother of Maan Singh. The same Maan Singh who was one of the closest generals of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Madhav Singh settled in Bhangarh in the mountains of Arawali. It was not a small fort. It was a whole city. At its peak, there were more than 9,000 houses in Bhangarh. Its royal palace was 7 floors high. And it had many temples like the Gopinath Temple.
There were mansions where ministers lived. And a market where the merchants of the entire Rajputana used to come. Thousands of people lived here, did business, and lived their lives. But today, if you go to Bhangarh, you will notice something strange. There is no roof of any house in the fort. The entire structure is standing. The walls are intact. But there is no roof above. The locals say that whenever someone builds a roof, it falls down.
Broken walls, ruined houses, deserted streets. The palaces where people used to live, only stones are left. The temples where worship was done, only diamonds are left. And the market where gold and silver jewellery was sold, grass is grown there. How did a city of 9,000 houses suddenly turn into a ruins? The locals of Bhaangad narrate two stories behind it. And both stories end on the same thing.
A curse. The Curse of Baba Balunath. The first story is about a sage. It is said that when Madhav Singh chose the place to settle in Bhangarh, a sage, Baba Balunath, used to meditate there. Madhav Singh asked permission from Baba to build a fort. Baba gave permission but on one condition.
that the height of any building of the fort should not be so high that its shadow would fall on his house. If this happened, the entire city would be destroyed. King Madhav Singh accepted this condition. Initially, only four floors were built in this fort. So that the Baba's house would not be covered with shadow. But later, Madhav Singh's grandson Ajab Singh extended the fort to seven floors. The shadow fell on Baba's house. This only condition was broken. And according to the story, Bhaangad was destroyed.
This is the first story. But the second story is even more terrifying. According to him, there was a tantric named Singhya in Bhangarh. He was an expert in black magic. He saw the daughter of Chhatar Singh of Bhangarh, Princess Ratnawati. She was famous for her beauty in the entire kingdom. Singhya knew that because of being a tantric, the princess would never accept him. So he took the help of black magic.
Black magic. One day, Princess Ratnavati went to the market with her friends. She stopped at a perfume shop. Singhia saw an opportunity here. And she turned the bottle of perfume into a love potion. The plan was that as soon as the princess put on the perfume, she would fall into Singhia's trap. But Ratnavati understood this trick. She threw the bottle of perfume on a big rock. The black magic worked, but instead of Ratnavati,
That magical stone, the stone that was drowned in the love of Singhiya, was thrown at Singhiya and was crushed to death. But before he died, Singhiya had cursed him. He would leave the temple and destroy the entire fort. No one living in the palace would survive. And no one would be reborn. It is claimed that the next year, there was a fierce battle between Bhaangad and Ajabgad.
And Princess Ratnawati also died. Bhangarh was completely destroyed. And according to the people, Princess Ratnawati, Singhiya Tantrik and the rest of the people who died here, were never reborn because of the curse. The souls of all these people are still wandering in the fort of Bhangarh today. This is why it is said that these souls scare people at night. And this is the reason why the one who stays here at night, never returns alive.
And these stories are not the only ones. The entire internet is filled with such haunted stories of Bhaangad. Locals say that sometimes, women cry, and women break bangles.
Sometimes, the sound of the wedding is like the sound of the atmosphere, sometimes the screams. Like someone is begging for help. Tourists say that while roaming around the fort, they feel as if someone is following them. Without any sound, the smell of urine comes. Even today, the sound of bells and anklets is heard near the dance house.
And the situation is that the fort's guards don't go inside at night. There are 10 people here at night. They stay here? Yes, they stay here. They don't come inside? No.
"We are 10 people, we don't go inside." "Why don't you go inside?" "Because there's a lot of blood coming here." "The sound of screaming." Many people claim on social media that scientists installed devices to record paranormal activities in the Bhaangad Fort. And they got negative energy here. The situation is that Bollywood couldn't escape from Bhaangad either. Many scenes of the films of Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan, Karan Arjun, were shot in the Bhaangad Fort.
During a song shoot, the heroine of the film, Mamta Kulkarni, opened her hair and danced as if someone had possessed her. In 2014, the director who made the movie Trip to Bhangarh, Jitendra Pawar, also claimed to be a scary person. According to Pawar, when he was going to Bhangarh for the first day of the shoot, suddenly the car brakes failed.
The driver somehow stopped the car in the jungle. But after a few minutes, the brakes started working suddenly. Similarly, one day, it started raining heavily. The shooting stopped. And Jitendra Pawar went to Princess Ratnawati's room. He prayed. And suddenly, the rain stopped.
In another story, a person stayed in a fort with his friend in the night. He thought someone was standing on the window. But no one was there. Then a black cat came out of the window. According to him, this cat was visible for 100 km after leaving Bhaangad. We were going in the parking lot. The same black cat that I saw inside Bhaangad. The same cat was visible for 100 km while crossing the road. At least 8-10 times. What are you saying?
But the most disturbing story of Bhangarh was the story of journalist Pallavi De Purkayasth. Pallavi was returning from the Bhangarh fort with her partner in the evening. Suddenly, her scooter got stopped. There was petrol in the tank. Headlines, horn, speedometer, everything was working. But the engine wasn't starting. A person nearby was watching this. And he started the engine without touching the scooter.
And then he said, "They want you." Pallavi's partner asked, "Who?" The man turned back and said,
You know who. Because of such stories, friends, Bhangarh is called the most haunted place in India and Asia. Lakhs of tourists do come here to visit. But only during daytime. So the question arises, are all these claims true? Is Bhangarh Fort really a haunted place? Are the souls of Princess Ratnawati and Tantrik really wandering there?
There's one thing that I haven't told you yet, that changes the story. But before I tell you the twist, there's something important. In this video, I've told you that in Bangar, people are afraid of things that are not there. Invisible Threats. In real life, there are such invisible threats. The internet.
When you connect to any Wi-Fi, your activity is tracked. Your ISP is checking which websites you are opening. Advertisers are tracking what you are searching for. And there is a risk of hacking on public Wi-Fi. The solution to this problem is today's video's sponsor, NordVPN. NordVPN secures your entire internet activity with military-grade encryption. Your real IP address is always hidden.
the browsing history would never reach your ISP. And no hacker sitting on public Wi-Fi can see anything. Apart from this, you can connect to more than 110 servers on Nord VPN. Meaning shows on US Netflix that are not available in India, UK libraries, Japanese anime, everything gets unlocked.
The location can be spoofed through VPNs. I have given a special link in the description, nordvpn.com/dhruv. You get a big discount of 2 years from there, and 4 extra months for free. And if you don't like it, there's a 30-day money-back guarantee. There's no risk of a single rupee. So if you need it, do try it. Nordvpn.com/dhruv Now let's come to the twist.
The entire legend based on Princess Ratnawati who haunted Bhangarh
there is no verified historical record of their existence. You heard it right. There is no Shila Lake, nor any contemporary document. The Ratnavati and Tantrik Singha mentioned, no one knows whose daughter the princess was, whose wife she was, and the time of her death. There is no historical proof of Baba Balunath being a saint. These stories are folklore. They are told from one generation to another. And every time they are told,
these stories became a bit more dramatic. The whole foundation of the haunted Bhaangad is based on characters that may not have existed before. So a big question still arises, the voices that people hear,
The shadows that tourists talk about, the story of 'They Want You', how can so many people be wrong? Here I want to tell you a shocking thing. When someone says that he saw a ghost in Bhangarh, or felt something strange, it's not necessary that he is lying. It's possible that he really felt something like that. But it's not because of a supernatural thing. Rather, it's because of science.
In the 1980s, an engineer from Britain, Vic Tandy, got proof of it in a very strange way. Tandy was working in his laboratory one evening, when he suddenly felt uncomfortable. His body was cold, he was sweating, and his hair behind his neck had grown. Tandy thought that someone was watching him.
Then he saw a grey shadow figure from the corner of the eye. The shadow was slowly clearing up. But when Tandy looked straight, the figure disappeared. There were rumours in the lab that this place was haunted. Tandy never paid attention to it.
But now, he felt that he had seen the ghost. He ran home in fear. The next day, when Tandy returned to the lab, he noticed that the fencing foil in the equipment was vibrating. A newly installed fan was generating an infra sound of 19 Hz. This was the frequency that made Tandy feel that someone was watching him.
The reason was that they saw a shadow. When they turned off the fan, the infrasound disappeared. And the ghost, the ghost disappeared. Infrasound are the sound waves that are below the frequency of 20 Hz. The human ears cannot hear them. But your body can feel them. The sound of this type of infrasound, gives vibrations to your body.
you get dizziness, anxiety, and a strange feeling that someone is watching you. The same is true in Bhangarh. When the wind blows through old stone buildings, the sound of the wind is naturally generated. Apart from this, the sound of the wind is generated by minor earth movements, earthquakes, and the falling of stones.
And if you look at the map, Bhangarh, in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, is in the seismic zone 4. A high earthquake risk zone. This is the Kila Aravali mountains, where the falling of stones and minor earth movements are very common.
The second phenomenon is Electromagnetic Fields . In the 1990s and 2000s, some researchers had put up a theory that the places considered haunted, were the places where the electromagnetic fields had unusually high levels. Which could confuse the human brain. However, when other scientists tried to test this theory later, they didn't get clear results.
This is just a theoretical science, it has not been confirmed yet. In 2012, the head of the Indian Paranormal Society, Gaurav Tiwari and his team went to Bhangarh. They stayed in the fort all night. And they had all the equipment that was said to detect ghosts. EMF readers, thermal cameras, audio recorders. The entire night, Gaurav Tiwari asked questions in the darkness. "Was Queen Ratnawati here?" "Is Tantrik Singhiya nearby?"
And after this whole night's investigation, the result was that nothing was found. Gaurav Tiwari himself said, I won't find any ghost. You mean I won't find any ghost here? You won't find any either. Here, only Langur, Mor and...
CR, Hainaz and Panther will meet. And I will meet them. No ghosts will be found. Those who are considered experts in finding ghosts, themselves say that there are no ghosts in Bhaangad. But there is another experiment in science that completely settles this. In 2008, researchers from Goldsmiths University in London, did an experiment called the Haunt Project.
They took an ordinary, empty, white room. Nothing old. No scary atmosphere. They installed hidden devices in it. That were producing EMF and infra sound.
And then he called 89 people and said, "Sit in this room for 50 minutes and tell us how you feel." The results were shocking. More than 20% of the people said that they thought someone else was in the room. Many people felt dizziness. And 8% of the people felt terror. In a room where literally nothing was there, except for EMF and Infrasound.
But the real shock came when researchers analysed the data. They found that whether the devices were on or off, people's experiences were almost the same. The people who felt the most strange were the suggestible ones. The role of the ghost was more important than the EMF and Infrasound. It was about suggestibility. It meant that if you told people to go to a certain place, they would feel strange.
people start feeling weird when they go there. There's a saying in our country, "To make fear a ghost." It's exactly the same. If you believe in ghosts, or if you're told that ghosts live here, then a moving tree also looks like a walking ghost.
Think about it. What do tourists get to know before going to Bhangarh? That this is India's most haunted place. That this is India's most terrifying and haunted fort. You watch thousands of videos on YouTube, listen to stories, scroll through Instagram, and your brain is already in haunted mode. And if you look at a normal shadow, you feel like you saw a ghost. There's a phenomenon in psychology called pareidolia. Our brain is in random shapes.
He started seeing faces and figures. In 1976, the Viking orbiter took a photo of Mars. And in the photo taken on Mars, a face was seen. Everyone saw it. People wondered what it was. What a big mystery! Do aliens really exist? But the reality is that evolutionarily, our brain has developed in such a way that we see faces everywhere. Our brain tries to find faces in everything.
Even if there is no face there, in the shadows of broken walls, in the dark corners of the old pillars, your brain automatically starts to see human figures. The truth is that the experience of Infrasound, EMF, Suggestibility, and Pareidolia, is the result of the people who call it a ghost.
If you ask why the Archaeological Survey of India has put up a signboard, that says that it is forbidden to enter after sunset. Many people believe that this signboard is the official proof of the Bhaangad being haunted. But the real reason behind it is the safety reasons. The Bhaangad Fort was declared a centrally protected monument in 1951.
The structures here are completely broken. The walls can fall at any time. And there is no light at night. But the biggest reason for this is that the Bhangarh-Sariska Tiger Reserve is only 50 km away from here. Sariska is spread over 866 km2. And since 1978, under the Project Tiger, it has been a Tiger Reserve. There are Bengal tigers, leopards, hyenas, monkeys, and many other animals.
These animals often come near the Bhangarh Fort and attack at night. And do you know those voices? People say that strange voices are heard from this fort. Sometimes of crying, sometimes of someone laughing. Actually, those are the voices of the Hyenas. Watch more videos of the real voices of the Hyenas. Actually, it seems as if someone is screaming or crying from afar.
Apart from this, monkeys live inside the fort. When they move at night, trees shake, and the leaves make sounds. But it seems that someone is nearby. The ASI has said that Bhangarh is not haunted. In 2016, the Deputy Superintendent Archaeologist of the ASI's Jaipur Circle, B.R. Singh said that the fort is not haunted. These are misconceptions. In India Today's investigations, officials and local guides said that nothing is haunted here.
"It's just that the animals are making it unsafe at night." A local woman also said that she had been living near the fort since she was 4 years old. "There are no ghosts, just wild animals." "The real danger at night is not from the ghosts, but from tigers, leopards, and falling walls." "And that's why the ASI has put up a signboard." "It's also written on this signboard that it's forbidden to bring in animals." "And the Kevda trees belong to the ASI."
This shows that the whole thing is an administrative notice, not a warning from the ghosts. Now let's get back to the story I told you about in the beginning. The story of three friends. Actually, who were they? No one knows. What were their names? No one knows.
When did they die? There is no news report about it. There is no police FIR. There is no document about it. This story is also a folklore, which was created to storm the Bhaangad myth. This saying, that after the night in Bhaangad, no one comes back alive, is also a lie. Many people have spent the night here, and they are still alive. But there is a mystery that has not been solved yet.
How did a city of 9,000 houses actually become a city of ruins? The real story of this is no less dramatic than a curse. Madhav Singh had settled in Bhangarh. After that, his grandson Ajab Singh built another Ajabgarh fort near Bhangarh. And he started ruling from there.
Bhangarh's importance gradually decreased. And in 1720, the King of Aamir, Sawai Jai Singh, attacked Bhangarh and Ajabgarh and captured them. Sawai Jai Singh settled in Jaipur. And Bhangarh became a secondary town. But Sukhe completely destroyed Bhangarh.
In 1783, due to the unusual El Niño events, North India was in dire straits. It is called the 'Chalisa Akaal'. Because it was in 1840, the year of the Indian Revolution.
This wasn't an ordinary flood. It was so dangerous that in the Dwaab region of Punjab, half to two-thirds of the population died. There was already a shortage of water in Rajasthan. And when this flood came, it became impossible to live in cities like Bhaangad. People left the city in search of food and water. And Bhaangad turned into a ruins.
"No curse, no black magic, but political decline, war, and a devastating famine, destroyed a shining city." You might be thinking, if the truth is so simple, then why are the stories of the ghosts of Bhaangad still alive? The first reason is the psychology of humans.
People naturally remember stories more than facts. You might forget that Bhangarh was destroyed in 1783. But a tantric performed a black magic to get the princess. And cursed the entire city while she was dying.
You will remember this story for life. Our brain wants to hear the narrative. People fled when the time came. It sounds boring to hear. But a tantric cursed the entire city. It feels satisfying. Because there's a villain, a cause, a clear narrative in this story.
According to the author Anuradha Goyal, when a historical site is abandoned, and people don't know about it, a mystery is created around it.
Over time, layers are added to it and the sites turn into ruins. This deepens the mystery and starts calling them haunted. The second reason is tourism. India's Most Haunted Place tag gives lakhs of tourists to Bhaangad every year. The local economy depends on these stories. And no one is interested in debunking them. The third reason is social media. On social media, everyone wants to share their haunted experience in Bhaangad.
If you go to Bhaangad and nothing supernatural happens, no one will want to listen to you. But if you go there and say that you're feeling something strange, and your phone battery suddenly drains, then that video will go viral. Scientist Marie Curie famously said, "Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less." There's no need to be afraid of anything in life. You just need to understand it.
And the better you understand, the less you will be afraid. What did I tell you? Don't be afraid. Ghosts are not real. I have explained this in detail in this video as well. By clicking here, you can understand it better. And you can find the NordVPN link in the description below. Thank you very much.
