  • [Sleep Tight / Originally by ENHYPEN / Lyrics and music by ARMADILLO, JAKE, CA$HCOW et al.] [Keyboard - Kim Hyeseung]

  • Sleep tight girl Pat your shoulder with my heart Follow my hand slowly Feel the rhythm A kiss on your closed eyes, with my heart Baby come and lay with me tonight

  • This night, under the moonlight sinking deep Without any worries, just sleep tight A lullaby for you You gon' sleep tight for tonight

  • You gon' sleep tight for tonight You gon' sleep tight for tonight I'm gon' save the night You gon' sleep tight for to

  • You gon' sleep tight for tonight I'm gon' save the night [Leemujin Service]

  • “Leemujin Service,” bringing you top-tier satisfaction with the best live performances. Today, we’re joined by ENHYPEN’s JAKE. Welcome! For all the viewers who’ve been waiting, could you say hello first? Hi, I’m JAKE of ENHYPEN.

  • - It was actually a really long time ago that HEESEUNG was on the show. - That’s right. It’s been quite a while. It's almost at Episode 200 now, and I'm finally here today. Thank you so much for coming. Thank you for inviting me.

  • [June 7th, 2022] As you mentioned, HEESEUNG of ENHYPEN appeared on Episode 16 and since then, ENHYPEN hadn’t been back. Why is that? I remember treating him really well, so I'm a bit sad about that. I... I know nothing about that(?). I haven’t even asked you anything yet and you're saying you know nothing?

  • [(Super nervous)] Anyway, it’s really great to finally meet you. Nice to meet you. You’re starting promotions with a new album. The song you performed just now, what song was that? Yes, it’s a track called “Sleep Tight” from our album

  • "THE SIN : VANISH." I participated in making it as well. It’s basically a message saying, “I hope you sleep well.” ENGENE always says really kind things to us. Sometimes they even say things like, “Sleep without dreaming.”

  • They care a lot about our health too. So this time it feels like we’re saying those words back to them. Both the lyrics and the vibe feel really warm. It’s a B-side, right? What’s the title track like?

  • It’s... a really intense hip-hop track. - Intense hip-hop? - Yeah, really intense. The title is “Knife.” Oh... even the title sounds intense. I think... it'll be a hit. I'll listen to ENHYPEN’s title track “Knife,” released on January 16th.

  • Okay, thank you. By the way, seeing you in person today you’re so handsome... Really? Thank you. Especially your nose bridge, honestly, I’m jealous. This bone sticking out here, what do you call it?

  • - A hooked nose? - Or is it “obbli-nose”? A hooked nose? What is an obbli-nose? Oh... obbligato is actually a music term. I was making a musical reference just now. Oh, okay. Anyway, I tend to notice people with nice noses and you’re really good-looking. It’s already been over five years since your debut

  • so you’re now in your seventh year as an idol. Compared to rookie JAKE who just debuted back then what do you think has changed the most about you now? Hmm... we debuted during the COVID situation so it took a long time before we could actually perform in front of audiences.

  • Because of that, I feel like we started without knowing much. So everyday and every year, there’s been so much change, so much I learn and so much I realize. I actually started my career around that time.

  • "Sing Again" ended in early 2021 when COVID was easing a bit. That was when I quickly learned what I should value and what kind of attitude I needed to have. So I can really relate to what you’re saying. After all that frustration, you finally got to meet fans face-to-face for the first time.

  • What was that like? - I imagine it must’ve been incredibly emotional. - Back then cheering became allowed overseas before Korea. - Cheering? - Yeah, so we were at a huge stadium in Frankfurt

  • with almost 50,000 people. It wasn’t just our fans there though. We’ve done many tours since then but that was by far the loudest crowd. It was my first time experiencing anything like that, so maybe that’s why it felt even more intense

  • but honestly, the cheers were unbelievably loud. After going through all that frustration it probably hit you even harder. It was truly a feeling I’d never felt before. Alright, it’s about time for your live performance.

  • What kind of comments would you like to see? “Wow, he can sing.” [(Ooh)] “He’s got charm!” Alright then. Let’s hear a live performance that’ll get comments like “He’s good” and “He’s charming.”

  • What song did you prepare? I prepared “Like A Star” by Corinne Bailey Rae. It’s actually a really old song. The first fan letter I ever received mentioned a “star.” Stars exist constantly in the universe, you know.

  • Even when the weather’s bad, even when they’re hidden behind clouds, they’re always there. They’re always there, even when you can’t see them. The letter said that’s how fans are, too. Makes sense. ENHYPEN debuted when COVID was at its worst, right?

  • Yeah, we debuted then, and we couldn’t meet our fans for a really long time. Alright, since you chose the song with such deep meaning let’s listen to it right away. Corinne Bailey Rae's "Like A Star" this is ENHYPEN’s JAKE with his first live service.

  • [Like A Star / Originally by Corinne Bailey Rae / Lyrics and music by Corinne Bailey Rae]

  • Just like a star across my sky Just like an angel off the page You have appeared to my life Feel like I'll never be the same

  • Just like a song in my heart Just like oil on my hands Honor to love you Still I wonder why it is

  • I don't argue like this With anyone but you We do it all the time

  • Blowing out my mind You've got this look I can't describe You make me feel I'm alive When everything else is au fait

  • Without a doubt, you're on my side Heaven has been away too long Can't find the words to write this song Oh, your love

  • Still, I wonder why it is I don't argue like this With anyone but you

  • We do it all the time Blowing out my mind Yeah

  • Just like a star across my sky Just like an angel off the page You have appeared to my life Feel like I'll never be the same

  • Just like a song in my heart Just like oil on my hands It’s not just because you’re sitting right in front of me

  • but the tone you’ve set feels like a “handsome voice.” - Sorry? - What I mean is... Let’s say I’m digging through music and discover an artist I don’t know. I hear only the voice, knowing nothing else and sometimes I think, “This vocalist must be really good-looking.”

  • - You’re saying that about me? - Yes! Most certainly! “Oh, this person must be handsome.” - It's like your voice makes people think like that. - Oh really? It felt like a very handsome live performance. Oh, I appreciate it. JAKE, by the way, your nationality is...? I have dual citizenship. Australia and Korea.

  • So when and how long did you live here? I was born in Korea. When I was about seven I went to Australia and kept living there I went to Australia and kept living there and then I came back (to Korea) to audition. Oh yeah? That's around my high school sophomore year.

  • In your sophomore year. You stayed there for quite a long time. Sounds like you were really into music even while you were in Australia. I honestly didn’t really know what idols were. I didn’t know much about K-POP. But I really loved listening to music.

  • Around 2016, my mom showed me an article about BTS first entering the U.S. market. That’s when I started learning about K-POP, BTS

  • and K-culture all at once and that’s when I really began to get interested so I gave it a shot. And that’s how things ended up like this, huh. Yes. From what I heard, at a global audition in Australia

  • held by your current agency you passed with odds of 500 to 1. Is that true? Actually, it wasn’t held in Australia. I came to Korea during winter break just to visit. It was just a public audition. In Korea?

  • Yes! Anyone could just go and audition. I just went and stood in line. I see. You’re surprisingly laid-back. Most people don’t just walk up and stand in line for auditions. Looking back now when I told my mom I wanted to be a singer

  • she was like, “Then go on an audition.” So I did. And you passed? Yes. I’m jealous. What do you think was the biggest reason you became that one person who beat those odds?

  • I honestly don’t know. But I’d probably give you full points the moment I see you standing there. Really? Even when everyone’s lined up? Well, not everyone is like you. What were you wearing that day? Just a T-shirt. A black T-shirt.

  • Just a black T-shirt? And jeans. And white sneakers, my favorite pair. Then what about your hairstyle that day? My part naturally falls like this.

  • - It just falls back like that? - Yeah, just naturally, as it is. [(Simulating JAKE)] - What song did you sing? - I sang Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” which I really loved.

  • That’s pretty ordinary. Black T-shirt, jeans, white sneakers, and “Love Yourself.” There were probably more than ten people who sang “Love Yourself” that day alone. - That's possible. - 'Cause it's a popular song. That’s why I believe in fate.

  • Really? Believing in fate, that's not ordinary. Seriously... becoming a trainee through an audition is the very first step to chasing your dream, right? I actually planned to give up quickly if the audition didn’t work out. But you passed right away.

  • I feel like I need to hear that song. Would you sing it for us? Shall I? “Love Yourself”? Okay. If you want to sing along in the middle, feel free to. Okay. [Love Yourself / Originally by Justin Bieber]

  • [Lyrics and music by Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Benjamin Levin] For all the times that you rained on my parade And all the clubs you get in using my name You think you broke my heart

  • Oh girl, for goodness' sake You think I'm crying on my own, well, I ain't My mama don't like you and she likes everyone And I never like to admit that I was wrong

  • And I've been so caught up in my job Didn't see what's going on But now I know I'm better sleeping on my own 'Cause if you like the way you look that much

  • Oh baby, you should go and love yourself And if you think that I'm still holdin' on to somethin' You should go and love yourself

  • You really sang it for us. I did it because you told me to. Come to think of it, you didn’t sing a BTS song even though you said you were influenced by them. Actually, back then, my Korean was really... really bad. Really bad. So singing a Korean song would’ve been too much for me.

  • Now that you’re singing it again today how does it feel compared to when you auditioned? I think I feel a bit more relaxed now. Compared to back then? Yes! And my voice has changed a lot too. Right, I can see that you refined your voice. Oh yeah?

  • I mean, you still have that tone even when you talk but when you sing, it feels like you’re consciously shaping your sound. Rather than just singing whatever comes out it felt like you were singing with intention. Thank you. Even if you weren’t aware of it that just means you’ve spent time trying to create a beautiful tone.

  • Yes. Starting your trainee life like that couldn’t have been easy either. As you said, Korean must’ve been tough. Singing, dancing and managing relationships... there were probably so many things to care about. What was the hardest part?

  • I’d never been a trainee before, so I didn’t really know anything. My Korean wasn’t good either. It was a Tuesday. It was my second day as a trainee. I had practice scheduled all day but I didn’t have any lessons.

  • So I had no idea what I was supposed to practice. When there’s no assignment. But they just told me to come in and practice. So I asked “Is it self-practice?” So in my head, I thought, ‘If it’s self-practice

  • does that mean I don’t have to come in?’ I really shouldn’t have thought that. So I got scolded pretty badly. Of course I was supposed to show up. I remember telling my mom, “I don’t think I can do this.” That’s crazy. “I asked if I had to show up for self-practice, and got scolded.

  • Mom, I don’t want to do this anymore,” you really said that? No... It wasn't like that! That wasn't the reason. It was... too tough for me. Because it was a very tiny room. It was this room about 1.5 to 2 meters wide with a mirror. I just sat there all day like this.

  • What did you do in there? I didn’t know what I was supposed to practice. [Self-thinking chair] So I just sat there for like ten hours. I thought, “This isn’t right” but my mom told me to wait a little longer.

  • Little by little, I started taking lessons and I realized, “This is what I’m supposed to practice,” and things got better. So the beginning definitely wasn’t smooth. But once you started learning things like that your passion probably started burning even stronger. Yes. - You did a hard work. - Thank you.

  • What song did you prepare for your second live service? For the second one, it’s a song called “On the street” by Leellamarz. I love Leellamarz. I do too. I'm not kidding. I really like him. No kidding... Why did you choose this song?

  • I found it after asking the members if they knew any good Korean songs. I started listening to a lot of Leellamarz’s music, and it was all so good. So that’s why I chose it.

  • Let’s listen and talk more afterward. Leellamarz’s “On the street,” this is ENHYPEN’s JAKE with his second live service. [On the street / Originally by Leellamarz (Feat. ASH ISLAND)] [Lyrics by Leellamarz, ASH ISLAND] [Music by TOIL, Leellamarz, ASH ISLAND] My song is playing on the street

  • Should I grab a backpack and just go travel? Looking back now, time went by so fast How did you end up with another man? My song’s playing on the street It once filled this hollow chest of mine with ambition

  • How did you end up with another man? Ay Girl, how you do that? How could you do that to me? You running away from me I’ll chase you down with my songs When you’re alone with another man So you can hear my voice

  • If things were going well with him, I’m sorry, sorry Oh, yeah, wake up and it’s a festival Oh, yeah, everything’s rushed, so rushed Oh, yeah, I smile, acting playful Gotta keep myself busy so I won’t miss you Racks on racks Wrapped up in Chanel bags I’ve got everything you wanted now

  • Even it sounds like a cliché Guess I’m the type to cling and drag it out After it all passes and it still hurts, maybe that’s regret I’ll fold it all up and put it in a box When I’ve got time later, take it out once in a while

  • My song’s playing on the street Should I grab a backpack and just go travel? Looking back now, time went by so fast How did you end up with another man My song’s playing on the street

  • It once filled this hollow chest of mine with ambition How did you end up with another man? My song’s playing on the street Should I grab a backpack and just go travel?

  • Looking back now, time went by so fast How could you? It feels really refreshing. Thank you.

  • There’s this cute, slightly unpolished quality that’s unique to you when you sing in Korean combined with your effort to pronounce it well

  • and with that handsome tone layered on top it really comes across as very boyish. The performance itself felt very boyish. Thank you. Have you ever sung a Korean song all the way through like this before? Have you ever sung a Korean song all the way through like this before? It really feels like my first time.

  • So do you have K-ballads on your playlist? Recently... I found a song called "WA-R-R" by Colde and it was so good.

  • I think Colde’s "WA-R-R" would suit your voice incredibly well. Could you sing a short part of it? Then, I'll sing it briefly. Yes, thank you.

  • [WA-R-R / Originally by Colde / Lyrics and music by Colde] Crash My heart Falls apart Crash

  • Don’t do this to me, baby A day without you I don’t even want to imagine it I wouldn’t be able to do anything I’d end up becoming a fool

  • Crash Do slow-tempo Korean lyrics feel more difficult?

  • - I think so. - Probably, right? It’s not necessarily an advantage of slow tempo but I think you can think more about the lyrics and sing while considering each word, one by one.

  • I think that part is kind of an advantage. Right, that does sound like an advantage. Great! I’ve heard that there are a lot of episodes from ENHYPEN’s dorm life. I’m going to ask you some questions now and I’d like you to clearly tell me - whether they’re true or false. - Okay!

  • There’s a fixed shower schedule. True or false? Oh yeah? Sometimes! When we have promotions the next day, we only sleep a few hours. In those cases, we set a schedule. Kind of as a courtesy, to tell each other to be quick.

  • We even set the number of songs. The number of songs? - The number of songs you listen to! - Whoa, that’s amazing! A lot of people probably do that, though... Wow, that's interesting. Since one song is about three minutes... - I also usually shower within three songs. - Me too!

  • I see, okay, got it for now. Then let’s move on to the next one. I heard the members each order their own delivery food separately. Is that true? Yes, that’s true. [(Joking)] Do you have money to burn? We did try to agree on what to get at first.

  • Then we gave up. It’s just... it’s really hard to gather everyone’s opinions. So everyone orders their own and if you add it all up, the cost must be... I mean, it’s all to eat well. For me... I don’t eat a huge amount

  • but I place a lot of importance on food. On the other hand, as long as some people are full, that’s enough for them. - Those people exist. - Right. So opinions can clash a lot. Ordering separately sounds like a good solution. Then on the flip side, what delivery food have you all ordered together as a team? We had grilled ribs. Grilled ribs... that’s hearty.

  • Grilled ribs are really good. And we order samgyeopsal pretty often too. We eat steak and pasta the most. - You do? - Yeah! I’ll keep looking forward to more fun dorm stories. I saw an interview you did in 2025.

  • You said finishing two songs was your initial goal. - Is that true? - Yes. So did you? Yes, actually... it wasn’t just two songs but I set a lot of different goals and tried a lot of different things.

  • And thankfully, two songs made it onto this album. One of them feels more like an introduction track. It was actually my first time co-creating a track like this

  • so it was a very new experience and a lot of fun. Right, because there’s that unique vibe that comes out when a singer leaves their own imprint on a track. I’ll give it a listen as well. If it’s an intro, it’s probably track one.

  • It’s track one, and it’s a narration. Actor Park Jeongmin did the narration, so I really like it. - His voice is so good. - Since you said you do producing did you oversee all the narration lines, tone, and directing as well?

  • Actually, I didn’t do that part. I participated in the initial process of making the track... - And you're still learning? - Yes. That sounds fun. Good. ENHYPEN is an incredible group that has even performed at Coachella.

  • It's a new year now. Is there a new title you’d like to earn this year? Not something about where ENHYPEN ranks. You sometimes get those kinds of labels. Something about album sales numbers.

  • Rather than that, I want something a bit more unique. In fact, every K-POP group is different and has its own charm. It would be great to really show ENHYPEN’s unique appeal.

  • Then do you have any personal goals? I really want to work on music more. While working on this album, I realized something. A thrill, maybe? - A thrill. - A thrill.

  • I feel that thrill when I’m working on music. It’s like that pent-up feeling eases a bit when I do something creative. Because, as many idols would probably relate

  • things are very structured. There’s always... a schedule every day. What I mean is, music work is one of the few moments that isn’t predetermined. I get it. So you mean that when you take control and express your own world

  • it eases that frustration of having to constantly follow a set path. I think projects where I can do things my own way are really fun. So as you continue to achieve your goals and go on to influence this scene in your own way

  • I’ll be watching from afar - with high expectations. - Thank you. Now we’re down to the final duet service. What song did we prepare today? Bazzi's "Young & Alive." Bazzi. Bazzi. Why did you choose this song?

  • It’s a song I’ve loved for a very long time and I listened to it a lot even when I was a trainee. - It’s a song that’s great to listen to while driving. - Right. And since it's "Leemujin Service." Right, we’re driving now. I’m behind the wheel. And I like the title.

  • "Young & Alive"! 'Cause we're young. It’s like, we’re young, so let’s live happily. With this song we’ll wrap up today’s drive with JAKE. Bazzi’s “Young & Alive,” it's a duet service by JAKE and me.

  • [Young & Alive / Originally by Bazzi / Lyrics and music by Rose Betts, Kevin White et al.]

  • [Leemujin Service]
